A stay at the Covered Bridge House is a must if you are in the area! The home and all of its touches radiate with the over 25 years of experience from the owners!
The stay started with a delayed flight which set the arrival time well past the originally thought 8:30 p.m. Nancy was understanding and gracious to the situation and was waiting with bells on at arrival after 10:45 p.m. The room was everything one would need. Very clean, very cozy, and stocked with all of the necessities!
The breakfast was amazing both mornings! Blueberry pancakes and bacon one morning and because I wasn’t really feeing French toast (that was a me thing and not a them thing, I am sure it would have been amazing) I got poached eggs, potatoes, bacon, and toast! Not only was the food great, but the brief and enjoyable conversations with the owners were always a joy and learning opportunity! They bestowed knowledge of the area and gave great recommendations on food, hiking, and things to do! Be sure when you come to try and have those conversations, they really are the cherry on top of this amazing bed and breakfast sundae!
Finally, don’t forget about the amenities in the back yard and throughout the house! The last evening the owners, by request, happily fired-up the hot tub and started a bonfire to go with the locally sourced beers which had been found in town (and were stored in the fridge in the centrally located guest pantry which also was fully stocked with coffee and teas)! The morning of check-out, a fire was on in the lounge room, which allowed for some light reading with the warmth of the fire before the stay was complete!
As I said in the beginning of this review, a stay here is a must! As with most bed and breakfasts, the rooms allow for rest and the food and beverage fill the belly, but what truly makes this an A+ experience is the ownership and the little touches they add to go...
Read moreMy husband and I just had a wonderful stay at the Covered Bridge House over father's day weekend, 2021.||Nancy and Dan pay attention to every detail from towels for the hot tub to delicious homemade breakfast options (including otherworldly freshly baked muffins).||We stayed in the Crawford Notch Room and experienced a pristinely clean and comfortable space.||We enjoyed fly-fishing in the Saco, and returning to a soak in the hot tub right outside our door.||The ambiance Nancy and Dan create - from the Mason Jar lights in the trees to the assortment of interesting antique books at the bedside table make for a unique and memorable experience.||The outdoor highlights are second to none - from the White Mountains National forest, the Saco river at the back door, the charming covered wood bridge, to the Adirondack chairs positioned just so around the fire pit and by the riverside - you can do nothing less than relax and let the tranquility take hold.||Highly recommend and looking forward to...
Read moreMy adult son and I stayed in the Covered Bridge House’s 2-bedroom suite. The beds were comfortable and the inn very quiet (we were there on weeknights with only 2 other rooms rented the first night and one other room rented the second night). The bathroom is across the hall but used exclusively by the suite occupants, and was not a hassle or awkward at all. The room and bathroom were spacious, and each room in the suite has a separate door accessing the hallway for additional privacy. Dan and Nancy are gracious, friendly hosts with a generous breakfast to start the day — the weather allowed for a garden patio start to the day and we enjoyed the quiet backyard after hiking, wading in the river (with tubes available to float down the river if you’d like). Several dining options are a short drive away, and the inn is convenient to many trailheads and other attractions....
