Golden Apple Inn — Hotel in Bartlett

Golden Apple Inn North Conway New Hampshire. $150 facepaint on sheets! They made my husband strip both beds even the bed that didnt have face paint on it and put it in garbage bags. I was at storyland with the kids, I didnt believe it. When we got back I talked to the lady at the front desk, she claimed the manager wasnt there and the charge had already been made on my card, she said storyland face paint doesnt wash out and the $150 was to replace the bedding. I told her storyland is 5 minutes down the rd and this must happen all the time (meaning they should use different bedding or issue a disclaimer) she said yes it happens all the time and each time they throw them away and charge the guest $150! I asked about the bed that didnt have facepaint on it she said it had something else on it. Honestly felt like a scam. I asked for something to cover the beds with because we still had to stay there another night and I was worried my kids would get "something else" on the bed and we would get charged another $150 to replace all the bedding. She said she didnt have anything, so the whole rest of the time we were there I was worried about my kids getting something on the sheets and it made the rest out our stay there very unenjoyable. I havent stayed at a lot of hotels but I cant imagine this expeience is typical? Not family friendly to say the least. I actually had to put a hold on my card and take pictures of the sheets before I left so I didnt have to worry about getting (scammed?!) again 😭 I told the lady at the front desk it was very bad pr and I was going to give a poor review, it's only $150 for me but could potentially be a lot more costly for them if they didnt change their policies, so I dont feel bad, I just hope I save another family from being scammed by this hotel! I'm home and in still in shock. I wish I had gone back to the hotel to get the diapers we forgot instead of my husband. I didnt want to make a scene in front of my kids and ruin our trip, in fact we made a joke about it because that's all we could do in front of our kids at the time, but now that I'm home I'm going to make sure my complaint goes as high up as it can go so I can spare another family from going through what we did! I hope a bad review is enough to make a change its such a bad policy a lawsuit is bound to happen, not to mention its completely irrational...

We have passed this place many times but never stopped. It is out of Conway about ...idk 5, 6 miles maybe...WE LOVE THIS PLACE. In fact, we got a room Aug 20 and 21 then went back for a pre honeymoon the next weekend and got a room for 3 nights. This hotel is beautifully kept, nice rooms with fridge, microwave, Keurig, sink and blow dryer. The walls are clean (no booger wall) the floors are carpet and the paint is a nice neutral color with queen or king beds. I love the down comforter so much that I asked for another for the pure feel of sleeping in a cloud. They got me one and I slept both nights like a baby. The pool is heated and has a gorgeous view of the woods behind. There is a playground for kids with clean and neat sidewalks. We met the owner and he was so nice and accommodating for us. In fact, he remembered that we stayed the previous weekend. Just a really nice place and honestly, a great price for 2 nights. We stayed at the Quality Inn for almost double the price and the room was no where near as clean and neat as this. You gotta stay here, you will love it. Minutes from hiking, swimming, skiing and just a little ways from Conways...

Spotless interior and exterior. Up to date fixtures and decor. Very comfortable, clean room, bed, fresh linens, immaculate bathroom and shower/tub.

Checked in at 9 PM on Friday January 25, 2019. It was very quiet and bright inside the main entrance. The reception desk was to the right. It was a quick, pleasant experience to check-in.

I was worried because there were several feet of snow and my room was only accessible by walking up a small exterior ramp and then halfway down an interior hallway. I was disappointed I could not park right next to my room because it was about 15°F and windy and I had several trips to retrieve my gear.

The overall comfort, cleanliness, appearance of my room and the good night's sleep I had while at the Golden Apple Inn made any disappointment or reservations I had previously fall to the wayside.
