This place is absolutely beautiful and we cannot say enough good about it!
I booked a reservation of the Garden Room (romance room it was called) with "Red Stick Romance A La Carte" without the dinner. And we were not let down! It was a birthday surprise to my wife.
My wife loved the rose petals on the bed, the private balcony, and the Jacuzzi tub. We had iced champagne with a cheese/fruit tray. The food was so tasty and the champagne was very nice - we sipped it on the balcony overlooking the trees.
The bed sheets are so comfortable, we will be purchasing a pair our next visit. We will pick this over a hotel any day!
Then came the breakfast in bed. Janice, the food was so good! The French toast was our favorite. We also requested mimosas with our breakfast as part of the package (mimosas or bloody marys) and it was a good call! Normally I am not a champagne drinker, but maybe it was the environment or the name of the champagne but I drank just as much as my wife did! Nothing like some mimosas on the balcony to help wake us up and get our day started.
All in all it was a great stay and we are very happy we chose The Stockade. It was between them and another B&B, but I was impressed with their website so chose The Stockade - good call!
Janice was very nice, the food was amazing, the room was great, and we loved the romance package. Would definitely recommend to...
Read moreRecently, I stayed at The Stockade Bed and Breakfast for 4 nights during the week while I attended a seminar in Baton Rouge. I cannot write a review that would justify how much I enjoyed my stay, but I will try. I had the pleasure of staying in the Garden Room, which was beautifully decorated and so comfortable that I felt like I was coming home each night. The shower – how awesome is that shower! I have stayed at The Stockade before in other rooms, all of which were just as comfortable. I enjoyed the balcony in the evenings which overlooks the treed and private back yard. My room not only was comfortable, but quiet as well. I felt like I was the only one there, but I’m quite sure that the B&B was full some of those nights. Sammy’s Grill across the street was so convenient when I was too tired to go out to dinner somewhere else in Baton Rouge. The innkeeper was pleasant and helpful, providing me instructions on how to get downtown each morning in the least amount of traffic. I did not get to enjoy the breakfasts because my seminar started too early, but I could smell it cooking when I left each morning and I know from past visits that it is always delicious and a delight of the guests. I cannot recommend The Stockade enough. It’s so much more comfortable than any hotel I’ve ever stayed at. There’s no doubt that I will stay there again next time I visit...
Read moreMy husband and I were on holiday from the UK and stayed 2 nights in October. What a great find and we we’re delighted with our accommodation. |Our room was clean, comfortable, well appointed and spacious. Located at the front of the property I can honestly say we heard no traffic noise at all and enjoyed a good nights sleep both nights. |Breakfast was freshly cooked, beautifully served and delicious. |We wanted to visit the plantations situated along the Great River Road which was an influence in where we chose to stay and in this regard the location was excellent. If our hire care hadn’t had to be returned the afternoon of our arrival I’m sure it would have been equally convenient to downtown which we had hoped to explore. With a restaurant and bar directly opposite which we enjoyed both nights, we were happy vacationers!|Janice and Gerry were fantastic hosts and made us feel extremely welcome. We were returning to BR the weekend of the Tigers v Auburn game which we were lucky enough to have tickets for. We would have loved to check in with them again but sadly (for us) they were already fully booked. Tells you all you need to know. Thank you for a great stay and wishing you...
