Our goal here is not to bash management of Birch Bay RV Park, but to rather provide you our experience, so you can make an informed decision about where you want to spend your precious summer weekends you work so hard all week to enjoy. If you are looking for a fun seasonal campground, I would strongly urge against staying here. The management has control issues, are very rude most of the time, and they will charge you extra for everything possible. We were on our 2nd season staying here as Full Time RVers. We have traveled to numerous campgrounds for weeks to months at a time, and have never been treated so poorly as we were at Birch Bay. Knowing that we lived there (and it was our home location), they kicked us out mid-season, giving us a week to leave without discussion. This, for doing absolutely NOTHING against the rules. We were up singing around a campfire with many friends (from the campground) on a Saturday night, up until quiet time, which was 11 PM at this time (as read in our contract. I see now that they have changed that to 10:30pm). At 10:59 PM the music was shut off. At 11:02, management called our cell phone and said, “Party is over…meet me in the office at 9AM”, where they proceeded to say we needed to leave and had a week to do so. The last comment made from management was to “make sure your friends knew you are taking the fall!” Who does this?! A couple hours later, management did come back and offer us a different site back in the woods, but again, made a comment about making sure our friends stay away! So, not only did they kick us out without talking about noise levels acceptable during normal hours, they then wanted to control who and how many friends we hung out with! We left the next day! I wouldn’t recommend this campground to my worst enemy. If you like to be controlled and treated poorly, this may be the campground for you. I know they will come back with a rebuttal as they always do too turn the blame against the camper, but how many times can they do this too campers before people see right...

New management is extremely rude. Fulltime rv'ers for 4yrs and endless campgrounds and have never been treated so rudely. Were yelled at about moving a shed and accused of lying about it when we knew we told them our schedule because our friend who would help wouldn't be in town until a certain date. They left a huge branch hanging over our site all summer ( I have date stamped photos over the summer to prove it) which luckily never fell down on anyone. They ripped our marine grade table cover and never even came to look at the damage. Our new boat was vandalized and the owners never even said they were sorry. We know of SEVERAL people the male owner was extremely rude to. I would highly caution anyone from becoming a seasonal here because they put a new clause in their contract that they can kick you out at any time for any reason and with no refund. We had a friend that this happened to when they couldn't come back because of an elderly sick parent. They gave a six month notice and the campground had a waiting list. They are all about the money. Be careful with heavy rigs because the sites are full of sand and we sunk 6 inches. We were great seasonals that brought two other couples with us and various friends came and rented weekend spots. We paid our bills on time, followed all the rules and gave them no reason to kick us out. The male owner is a hothead and they will kick you out if they want. So sad to see such a beautiful campground become such an uninviting place to be. The pics are of the huge hanging branch and the 5 ft birch branch that was left laying on top of another tree after they removed the birch tree. It finally feel down the day we were moving things out amd luckily we...

This was our 2nd stay with Birch Bay RV Resort, and it was equal to - or better - than the last.

The staff at Birch Bay are fantastic. From the moment you arrive, they make you feel welcome. My family had been making a relatively last minute (if you've ever camped in Minnesota - you know you need to plan months - if not 1 year in advance) reservation (so...2 months in advance) and the staff was extremely helpful in squeezing us in. They advised us which dates they had some openings and worked with us to make sure that we didn't have to change sites after our 1st night.

We were only able to stay 2 nights, but enjoyed every moment. This year, they updated the place and added a few new out buildings and a pool. The pool was definitely busy, and the kiddos loved it. I'm a huge fan of the lake and the activities it provides. Unfortunately during our stay, the weather wasn't optimal - but we still managed to find some time out on the water to use the toys.

Sites are relatively big. Have a firepit. Bugs were somewhat controlled (it's summer in MN...). They have a playground, that is new and relatively big for the littles. Some sites have a decent amount of shade - while others are in the open and it would be desirable to have a shade tent.

We'll...

Birch Bay is a very nice campground located on a lake with decent proximity to town for restocking activities. Our issue is with our site F4 issued to us for our 1.5 month stay. It was not suitable for a 40 foot class A coach. Site was not deep enough and had severe slope. Owner tried to reduce slope with a backhoe but we were still left with a sloped coach situation with full jack extensions and the rear jacks in sandy loose rocky soil. The owner had to loan us a manual step so we could simply reach our first step of our coach. Each Dump of the Black and Gray tanks involved a manual manipulation of the waste water uphill to the drain. Upon leaving the resort to our next stop we noticed the damage done to our rear right jack in the soft rocky soil it was submerged in at Birch Bay. We have contacted the resort about this but so far no offer of compensation. So our advice for this property if you are a first time stay is (1) see and survey your site before accepting and paying. (2) bring extra leveling pads as a lot of slope on most sites where plenty of concrete blocks get used for leveling.

I can not say enough good things about Birch Bay RV Resort. The staff were so friendly and did an amazing job keeping the resort clean and maintained! The camping lots were very spacious, and our pull through lot had a concrete pad, which was a bonus! The shower house was also very clean. They have daily activities planned for the kids, which they enjoyed, free candy bar bingo, decorate your own donuts, coloring contest, live music, etc. Very much a family-friendly resort. We already re-booked for next year, and we can't wait to go back.
