So I stay at alum creek a lot and love it but the last time I stayed before heading back to Montana I was there 2 weeks and the last day before we left a storm came through and a tornado was close to the camp ground it was March most of the people there was in campers I and a few others where in tents they wanted everyone to go to the restrooms my family was hit by a tornado 2 weeks before that in London Ohio so my kids where very scared so instead of going to the restroom we left the area until the strom passed through We came back that night and the campground was a complete mess. Everybody that wasn't campers seemed to be okay, but all of the people that were i tents lost a lot of stuff. I have pictures of my tent. It was halfway in a tree with the fireplace on top of it. My tent was shrudded and destroyed and half of my stuff with scattered throw out other campsites were not able to clean it u or stay there because it was so bad so the Next day we came to save whatever we could , which we was only able to save a few blankets And as I know that this was not the camp spot, it was not art either, and we lost everything we had for camping. And we are a family that travels between Montana and Ohio year round. And we use our camp stuff. Pretty much every night thousands of dollars was gone. We weren't even able to stay at the campsite they did not offer to give us a free night. They do not offer half our money back or a refund I caught a couple places like red Croft. And they told me to call the campground and ask for a refund and see if they were willing to give me my money back for the night that I wasn't able to stay since I had already lost everything. I have been 3 months calling. They said they will give me a refund and that they will call me back. They give me the run around and this was March, the 13th. I have given them plenty of time. And I am sick of trying to call them. And not getting anywhere with them. I leave many messages. I've even talked to people and they always said they will call me back and no one ever does they say they will refund me for that night but they havent I'm 2 hours behind here in Montana I call 3 to 5 times every week since the last week of march We stayed at the campground every time. We're in ohio and we stay two weeks every month or for 3 to 5 months and this is how we...
Read moreWe love this campground. Well we loved it a lot more before they changed some things since the last time we camped here a few years ago. This time we rented what they are calling a large camper cabin site E5 which is very nice. I think this used to be called a cedar cabin but not sure. They still have the old signs up and that is what the sign says. I thought that I remembered larger cabins before but I don't think they exist anymore. They have changed where you check in at. Now you bypass the front gate where there is no one to stop anyone from coming in at anytime so there is very little security. You now have to check in at the nature center with very little signage and no parking so you have to park on the side of the road which is a bit dangerous. Very little in the way of merchandise or refreshments to purchase in the nature center. It is really kind of a hassle. Not sure why they changed things since it seems less secure. I really don't see what would stop someone from just coming in after 9pm when the nature center closes and just park and camp for free for the night. There seems to be a lot more empty spaces then there used to be. Now you cannot just show up and rent a camping space as a walk-up. You have to go through the Dept of Natural Resources website to rent sites. Not sure these changes are for the better. I used to feel safer and love the campground more before all of the changes. With all that being said we really enjoyed our stay in the cabin. It had air conditioning which we loved. That was a real life saver since it was over 90 degrees when we were there. There is no microwave just a mini fridge and small portable stove/ burners. There is a TV with regular antenna. The mini fridge keeps thing cold. Top is a freezer and the shelf under that actually freezes stuff too. Our grapes and blueberries were frozen which wasn't a big deal. Place was fairly clean. What I did really like is this cabin has a deadbolt with a code lock which I felt very secure in. Although it would be easy to lock yourself out if you forget the code. Overall we really enjoyed this cabin. Bathrooms were very close as well as the mini beach that's in the campground. Things were quite because there wasn't a...
Read moreWe camped here for a week. Beautiful campground. Very beautiful area. Lots of stuff nearby to see and do. The camp office staff were very friendly and helpful. The camp office sells ice cream! The campsites are mostly on the small side, and there's a lot of poison ivy. The site we were in was close enough to the road outside the park that we could hear a lot of road noise. The one bathhouse I used was in the next row, not the row I was camping in, but it was easily accessible by a path through the woods. The only issue I had with it's location was the fact that, had I not been told about the path, I wouldn't have known where it was. The bathhouse was clean and nice. I was very frustrated with the sinks and soap dispensers. They're automatic, and they don't turn on easily. There is only one well lit shower, but the showers themselves were very convenient. They function as they should and include a separate partition to get dressed in. There were a lot of people speeding through the park. I attribute this to the fact that unlike some campgrounds, this one doesn't have a main road that branches off into different groups of campsites. Every road in the park, after the camp office, has campsites, and the campground is a decent size. Overall I had a very pleasant experience, and I will...
