I booked one of the junior suites for my boyfriend and I to have a romantic evening given that we are currently long distance and we only get to see each other twice a month and I was super disappointed with the experience. While the room was beautiful when we arrived we discovered that the fireplace wasn't working. We let the front desk know and they sent a maintenance person who was in the room for quite sometime making lots of noises trying to get it to work. I was disappointed that the hotel staff didn't make sure the fireplace was working before assigning us the room. It was awkward and frustrating to sit in the room while he worked on the fireplace when we should have been enjoying our time together. Before we checked out the next morning we used the double head showers, which were an awesome perk, but 10 minutes into the shower the entire bathroom was flooded. The water was everywhere! The water was into the bedroom and toilet area and we had to put down all the towels just to finish getting ready. The smaller disappointments were magnified by all this. For example, there were no glasses in the room. We settled for drinking wine out of paper coffee cups. In the morning, it snowed and the parking lot had not been plowed. The motor of whirlpool tub was sooo loud that we opted for no jets instead of the noise. The only good thing about the experience was that the staff was very kind and courteous. I could have shared all this at the time but to be honest I didn't want to spend the precious time I have with my partner dealing with all these things when we paid good money to have an intimate experience. While we meet in the Bloomington area often, I don't think we will be staying here again.
Btw- before posting this publicly I reached out to the hotel and asked them for a survey. They told me I would be receiving one in my email which I...
Read moreFirst time staying and we'll come back again and again! The hotel was clean, quiet and conveniently located on a main route. The staff was SO friendly and professional; they were happy to accommodate our every need. Having a restaurant on the premises is a vanishing luxury so we appreciated that too. The only thing to work on is putting clocks back on the night stands. Not everyone rolls over to look at their phone to check the time. Thanks for a great stay and a delicious cookie!
Just a quick update. We've been coming here for events and conferences for more than 3 years now and while the staff is still outstanding - everyone from the front desk to the cleaning team, to the set up and catering staff, just super kind and helpful. Everyone seems to love their job. But, we've noticed that maintaining the cleanliness of the room in a "deep-cleaning" manner may have started to lag. For example, directly over the shower was a vent that was SO dirty and cruddy that it was creepy - we did not shower because I was certain something big and crawly was going to fall from that vent, OR, we'd breath something completely undesirable into our lungs while cleaning our bodies. As well, the sheets and comforter on the bed were yellowed with age - detectable because the duvet was still very white. Finally when we got into bed, though we had pulled back everything to inspect, we were getting in and out to wipe out something crumbly on both sides that must have been salt or something because we couldn't see it. But we could see the incredibly wrinkled sheet indicating that our bed linen probably hadn't been changed from the salt-eater who slept there before us. So, these things were disappointing. They're not our usual experience with this DoubleTree location and we hope it won't...
Read moreI travel for business two sometime 3 time each week, so I sleep in hotels a lot. My reservation is always made through the same corporate travel website; in the corporate travel website my profile states that I am allergic to feathers and requests a room be set at turn with no feather bedding. Most of the time hotels see the note in the file and I get a feather free room. This property did see the note, but as the note was not in the section of the reservation where they expect to see it they did not honor the request; I know this because that is what Josh at the front desk told me. Josh then walked away from the front desk and left me standing there. After Josh walked away the clerk I was talking to when Josh interjected with his comments told me there is no manager on duty but she would call her boss and ask him what to do. Taylor (the guest services manager) told the clerk I was talking to he had no solution, and I told the clerk she needed to void the transaction as I can not sleep in a bed that has had feathers in it without ending up in a hospital. At this point Josh returned with a top sheet, a bottom sheet, a pillow and a blanket, maybe he thought I was going to strip and remake the bed, or maybe he though I should sleep on the floor. I booked a room at a different hotel and left. The last time a hotel missed my feather free request was also in Bloomington, although Bloomington, IN. The hotels general manager apologized for the oversite, took a vacuum and new bedding up to my room striped the bed, vacuumed the bed and then remade the bed so I would sleep in comfort. Clearly the manager of the Bloomington, IN Marriot hotel understood that he is in the...
