(Stayed on 8-15-2020) I was planning a road trip to drive my daughter back to ASU in Tempe, AZ so I was looking for an interesting place to stop near the midway point. l lucked out and happened across this little town, Bluff UT, on Google maps. The rock formations from the satellite view were intriguing and I noticed a small little resort located right in the middle of these amazing red rocks so I immediately booked a room.
The last stretch of highway on the way to Bluff was pretty desolate so we were a little nervous about what we would find. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised! It looks like something you would find on a post card. We checked in and the staff was incredibly friendly. The driveway and parking lot are a graded gravel road so you might want to take it slow in your Maserati. :)
We parked right outside of our room so it was a short trip with our luggage to the room. It was about 100 degrees outside but the room was cool and relaxing when we walked in. It was nice and clean and since we were on the 1st floor we had a door that opened up to a small patio and a large community fire pit. Immediately above us loomed an enormous rock face. Visually it is hard to describe the awesomeness of the view. We explored the resort and watched the sun drop behind the rocks to the west which created an amazing display of colors and shadows across the landscape. Absolutely stunning!
There is a small little restaurant with a walk up window and outdoor seating right in the middle of the complex. We ordered a couple of pizzas for dinner and sat outside next to the pool. The restaurant was a little backed up on orders and so the pizzas took a while but the staff was extremely polite and delivered them directly to our room. They were delicious and worth the wait.
After a long day of driving we were exhausted so we sat by the fire pit and gazed at the stars for a little while. I was surprised at how quiet it was outside. It was almost like we were the only ones there but we were not. The resort was pretty full judging by the parking lot.
The next morning we ordered some breakfast burritos from the restaurant and they were great. We weren't able to stay long because we had to get back on the road but we will definitely be back with the entire family when we can stay longer and when it's just a tad bit cooler. :)
On the way out of bluff we did some site seeing and I wish we could have had more time. Immediately across the highway from the resort is an old abandoned gas station and I couldn't help but notice how much it looked like a picture of Radiator Springs. The only thing that was missing was Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater.
There is an Native American pueblo dwelling along the San Jaun river that is pretty close by but it requires a 4x4 vehicle so we will have to see that on the next trip. Valley of the Gods national park is just a short drive from Bluff. If you have the time it is an unbelievable drive if you are into that type of thing. We also drove up to the Moki Dugway which provides breathtaking views from up above Valley of the Gods. If narrow winding gravel roads make you nervous then you might skip this one but it's definitely worth it.
Overall this was an amazing 24 hours for us! If I could give a 6 star...
Read moreAfter traveling 4000 miles from our home in NC on a tour of the Western National Parks, after visiting Monument Valley and Valley of the God's, we passed through the small town of Bluff. On the way out of town, we passed the Bluff Dwelling Resort on our way to Cortez. Instead of traveling on, we decided to stop and stay at the Resort!!! Boy are we happy we did!!!! The front desk host were welcoming and friendly!!! They called the café and had them stay open so we could eat. The pizza is an absolute must. It was fantastic!!! Our room was immaculate and the shower was fantastic. After staying at many hotels during our trip, the bed had the most comfortable mattresses we had slept on and it was not even close!!! The decor was Native American themed and really complimented the culture!!! All the staff was friendly and my wife and I were really happy we decided to stop. She got up and took in the scenery!!! WOW is all she could say!!! The only negative during our stay was the walls are thin and we could hear muffled talking every now and then. This however in no way diminished our stay!!! We loved our accommodations and this truly is an Oasis in the Desert!!!! We are already putting this on our must to do list on our next trip out West!!!! However the next time we will spend more than just one night!!! Do yourself a favor and stop by. You will not be disappointed!!! Also take in the Fort Bluff!!! This historic site is like stepping back in time. It is Free and relies on donations so drop in a few bucks!!! It goes to a great cause in preserving our history!!! The people are wonderful and the gift shop there was full of Native American goods!!!! Do yourself a favor and stop in this wonderful Town!!! You will be better off...
Read moreDo yourself a favor and just book it. This place is great. If you’re looking for a negative, you won’t find one in this review.
We booked a deluxe room with two queen beds. Second floor with a nice balcony looking out towards a very pretty canyon wall. I walked up the hiking trail and enjoy an awesome view from the ridge. The shower was great and the room had a ton of usable space. We made dinner on one of the provided grills and ate around a fire pit as we watched the setting sun change the color of the surrounding rock walls by the minute. We got ice cream on site afterwards - highly recommended.
We stayed two nights - unexpected but we weren’t mad about it. Had some vehicle problems, I’ll spare you the details. The staff both on the hospitality side and maintenance side was awesome. Very accommodating and helpful. Shout out to Mr. Shane for doing everything he could to help us out, from looking over our truck and trailer to even offering us a ride in to Blanding for parts. Really nice guy.
The folks at the front desk were always helpful and understanding. Like I said, no complaints and nothing negative to say about anything.
Stay for a couple of days. The pool and hot tub are very enjoyable and there is plenty of shade to hang out under if you need to. Grab a pizza from the Cedar Shack and crack open your favorite drink for lunch, hang in a lounge chair and just chill down.
Everything was clean, modern, and very well managed and cared for. From the playground to the patios, the parking lot to the pool - top notch ten out of ten place. Like I said - just book it. We will be back every year from...
