Desert Rose Inn and Cabins is an excellent resort if you’re looking for a quick stop. Looking to relax? This is the place for you. The rooms were spotless. The cleanliness of the facility was seen everywhere you looked. The staff was friendly, hospitable, and informative. The pool/hot tub are excellent options for those of you who like to swim, and the fitness center is small but manageable with an excellent view of the mesa. Located at the end of the road, you truly get the sense of isolation being out here with modern comforts. The only reason this resort didn’t get a 5 star review is because I booked it a few months in advance when it said that the on site restaurant “Duke’s” would be opened. Only a few days before our stay did we notice on their site it was closed now until March. This did put a damper on the trip, because the largest appeal was having the on-site dinner option because this was meant to be a quiet and cozy birthday getaway. There are such limited food options this time of year (winter) that you may as well say there aren’t any at all. We did end up having to drive 50 miles round trip for some fast food our main day here. Luckily the resort provides a fridge and microwave, so you can stop at a local gas station for microwave meals, or bring home leftovers from your one dining option that was at Bluff Dwellings. Excellent food at the Cedar Shack Cafe and I’m grateful the staff at Desert Rose let us know about them. All in all, it’s a great place to stay the night, but any longer than that, the circumstances may alter the experience you’re able to have. Definitely check this resort out. Maybe they’ll have the restaurant open when you stop on by! I want to try it one day. I wish we would have been offered a discounted rate since we no longer had an on site food option available to us. They do offer a free breakfast buffet to all guests. Pretty standard to any continental breakfast you will find anywhere else.

Read moreDuring my two-night stay at the Desert Rose Resort & Cabins, I found myself utterly charmed by its beautiful setting, inviting pool, and lush surroundings. Nestled just a scenic 55-minute drive from Monument Valley, the journey itself offers a memorable highlight—you’ll pass the iconic “Forrest Gump Point,” a cinematic spot that somehow makes the drive feel symbolic and cinematic.
From the moment I arrived, the staff’s warmth and hospitality stood out. They were friendly, attentive, and seemed genuinely dedicated to making guests feel at home. On-site, Duke’s Restaurant serves up remarkable dishes—I’m in awe of the chef and the team behind these culinary creations. Unfortunately, I learned too late that the restaurant is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. My stay included one weekend day, and I wasn’t able to savor Duke’s cuisine on that second day—one minor downside to an otherwise stellar experience.
That said, if you’re just passing through or planning a trip to the region, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Desert Rose Resort & Cabins: it’s a place where you can truly indulge in life’s simple pleasures.
If you’re after a heartfelt, historically rich, and warmly inviting getaway in Bluff, the Desert Rose Resort & Cabins should be at the top of your list. Immerse yourself in the tranquility, savor the views (and any weekend-day meals you can plan!), and appreciate how the resort carries forward the legacy of Bluff’s storied past in its...
Read moreThis was the perfect gem in the middle of nowhere. We stayed in the courtyard rooms of The Desert Rose Resort and the room was spacious, upscale and we even had our own private covered porch with amazing views. The bed was so comfortable, and the towels were so soft. The attention to detail was amazing. Check in was easy, and the staff was very friendly. The courtyard building had a beautiful lobby with oversized comfortable furniture and a gas burning fireplace to unwind if you wanted. The pool was also in this building and not crowded at all with one or two people in the hot tub. Breakfast was served (included) in the main building (just a few steps out the lobby door) and it included a wide variety of hot and cold items in a pretty room. It also had a restaurant attached to the inn (Duke's) which was pretty upscale (for the area) but a delicious meal, especially when you are travelling and tired of the same old foods. Monument Valley was 40 minutes away, and Mexican Hat about 25. It was also close to The Valley of the Gods and the Mogi Dugway and Mooley Point (all highly recommended). If I were to be in the area again I would look forward to staying at the...
