Oh boy. It's the Elmcourt. It's a Brockton institution. As of April 2025 a room with shared bathroom can be had for $270/week or $65/night. Room with private bathroom is $75/,night with no weekly rate available. This makes it for sure the cheapest place not only in town but anywhere in the area. Consequently, all of the, shall we say, non standard things that you might expect are likely here. The rooms look like rental units near a state college. Stained rugs, walls more patch than wall, super cheap mattresses you can feel the coil springs through, and the box spring is likely partially shattered too. What little furniture in the room is completely random in style and age. The only unifying characteristic is it's all stuff the Salvation Army would bin if I were donated. Some of the rooms have a small bathroom type sink in them. The window all fully open but can be drafty. The heat is big ol steam radiators. I imagine it could get a bit nippy in the winter. There is no AC, not central, not window mounted it otherwise. There are mice. Like, many, many mice. In the course of 2 nights, with one standard mousetrap baited with peanut butter I caught 6 mice. Rats are not here. Nor are any bugs. I mean none. I suspect any mention of them in other reviews is either from before current owners or from someone who brought them in. The wifi has been out for something like 7 or 8 years. I would not bank on it coming back anytime soon. There are soda and snack vending machines. A small kitchen that can be used from 8am to 10pm. There's a laundry room with 2 each washer and dryer Generally at least one of each works. The only ice machine was shut off "for COVID" around 2019 and never turned back on, despite the fact that it does in fact make ice (I checked) so no ice. However at Vincentes grocery store about two blocks from here you can get an 8 lb bag of ice for $1.50 and a 4 lb bag for $1. Nonetheless, I know this place is not known for its amenities, but shit, there could be ice at least. They use actual keys here for rooms which require a $20 deposit. The shared bathroom is ok except the showers have that push button deal that runs the water for 40-50 seconds then shuts off. And the hot water leaves the chat at about the 13 minute mark. Second floor shower is better than the third. Never tried 4th floor. The stupid push button is easily Defeated. The thin end of a cheap comb or really anything you can jam in between the button and the surround will keep it in sufficiently to not have to dick around every 45 seconds. (Edit) Here are some interesting facts about The Elmcourt: In 2021 it was sold by the Yannones to Steve Young dbs Bryant Hotel LLC for $2.8 million. I find this amusing because it was called the Bryant when it was built in 1906, at some point was renamed The Elmcourt and stayed that way for decades, and now it's been returned to its original name, though only on paper. Everything having to do with the place, at least from the perspective of the customer, refers to it as the Elmcourt. Also strange is the fact that everything about the place states the address as 33 West Elm, and yet, according to the Brockton Assesors office, the address is 31 West Elm. Peculiar. Could potentially create a bit of a bump in the road for someone attempting to lodge a complaint about the place. Not that there would ever be a reason to. 😶 Edit: The Elmcourt has a posted, but selectively enforced rule against pets and children. Pets, that's legit. Children, not so much. That's discrimination under mass law. See here: https://www.mass.gov/info-details/discrimination-in-public-places Or look up mass general laws: c. 151B, c.151C c. 272, §§...
Read morePretty much every review of this hotel is filled with misinformation from people who seem to have fought with the desk clerk and are taking it out on Google Reviews. I've been staying here for six months while trying to find an affordable apartment (I could really use some luck with that sitch, but that's a story for another time). I will attempt to correct all of the wrong or outdated information in the other reviews, while trying to stay as neutral as possible. First, I'm not sure about nightly rates, but there are weekly rates. It's $289/wk plus $20 deposit which you get back after your stay, assuming you don't set the lobby on fire or remove your bathroom plumbing. You can stay for up to three consecutive weeks, then you must leave for one day, then you may return and start the process over. (It's a long story, but this 3-week rule had to basically be instituted because some customers were at one time trying to squat in some of the rooms without paying). Second, I believe pets were welcome here at one time, but no longer are. (If you MUST have a pet, just do what I do: you will occasionally see a mouse or two, depending on what room you're in. If you're lucky enough to have one in your room, just name it Mr. Jingles and pretend it's your magical therapeutic rodent companion. You'll never get bored!) Speaking of pests, not only have I never had a single bedbug incident, none of the other regulars have either. In fact, this building is almost strangley bug-free. I haven't even seen a spider or a house fly. Not that I'm complaining! I'll take mice over spiders any day. Also, when checking in, there is a limit to two adults to a room, and both guests must provide ID. As far as all the employees here being mean, that's just not true. If you treat them like human beings, they will be as helpful and friendly as the staff at any 4-star New York hotel. OK, maybe that's stretching it, but they're all pretty chill - especially considering some of the stuff they have to deal with. Next, most rooms have their own private bathroom. If most of the rooms are rented, you may get stuck having to share a common bathroom with a couple of people, but the prices are even cheaper for those rooms from what I understand. EVERY ROOM has a flat-screen TV and basic cable. Due to a recent fire, the Wi-Fi was damaged and has not yet been repaired. Also, some of the reviews said that some people were doing drugs in some of the rooms. This is absolutely true. But I only know this because WHAT DO YOU THINK MOST PEOPLE ARE DOING IN MOST OF THE WORLDS HOTEL ROOMS MOST OF THE TIME? DRUGS! Trash bags and bathroom tissue is provided on request, free of charge....
Read moreI currently reside here while looking for a place. The only reason I chose this hotel is the fact that its the cheapest your going to find ANYWHERE. I work in Braintree the commute is definitely not fun. I'm looking for a way to get in touch with the owner "Chip Yannone". I've been here about 2 months now on and off and have never seen or met him. I have issues to discuss with him and the front desk doesn't give out any contact info for him. Normally I wouldn't complain, you get what you pay for and at $54 a night you get a bed, tv, a sink, some mice, and a shared bathroom that is always dirty. However now they want to raise rates because of a small fire a couple weeks ago and because they are down 16 rooms? Well sorry that's not my fault. It's not fair to anyone staying here to charge them MORE when we already get nothing to begin with. Can never get clean towels, the power is going out at least once a day, construction and loud banging 5 days a week and the mice trying to eat my food and he wants to charge us MORE??! If anything we should be discounted!!! Oh and it says free wifi as one of the amenities, if anyone knows the Wi-Fi address and password that would be greatly appreciated lol no address even comes up for this place when you look up connections. Smh...
