Review by a tent camper. Despite the rainy forecast, this campground was hopping with campers, including other tenters like me. The tent site rate was budget friendly @ $24 per night when I was there. I'm glad a previous reviewer recommended specific tent sites, B20 being the highest on his list and which I was able to reserve. Restrooms clean, dry, with working hot water, and an electric outlet that has juice. Hot showers with good pressure included in the campsite fee. Good cell coverage. A walking path will take you to Brookings about a mile or so away. You can walk to various points on the beach via additional walkways, some of which include steep inclines or careful clambers over driftwood and loose pea gravel. Tent sites B16 and B18 are untenable in my opinion, as the available footprint for a tent in either of these sites is miniscule. Other B loop tent sites might be OK when there's no rain, but otherwise, finding a level spot that doesn't collect water in this loop is a challenge. B9 OK. An adjacent lumber operation produces considerable noise every night (all night), except possibly weekends. On a return stay, I'd go for the C loop, specifically tent sites C5, C6 (best), and C9 for their size, level ground, and better...
Read moreAmazing campground! Price was very reasonable, our site was easy to locate, back into, and get setup on with a sign showing it was reserved. It had sufficient room for relaxing with bushes to allow for some seclusion/privacy. Reserving online was easy with pictures and details for each site available. The grounds were very well kept and maintained, it was quiet, and the views nearby were fantastic! Easy to get to town right off the main road and plenty to see/do nearby. We absolutely would return again and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good sized, quiet, affordable, and family friendly campground to stay/vacation at!
Thanks for a wonderful stay! I loved the views and even having some wildlife walk right along our site to really make for a good start to the morning.
There was some nearby heavy equipment possibly down the hill from the main camping grounds that I could hear in the evening for a bit with reverse beepers sounding, however it didn’t last all night and I suspect it would not be a regular/daily/long...
Read moreEasy access to the coast and town. Nice spacious sites. Clean restrooms and showers. The camp hosts are really nice, the rangers- not so much. My dyslexic hubby accidentally parked us in like 32A instead of 32B. And the older male ranger that knocked on our door was VERY rude about an innocent mistake and kept shouting at me that I needed to move RIGHT NOW. He had also yelled at my husband the first day we arrived because he pulled over to not block the entrance since no one was in the hut. As I went to find a camphost, all of whom were off duty at that moment. Instead of helping us, he just shouted- “ARE YOU BROKEN DOWN, you can’t park here!” So maybe he needs a day off to go touch some grass and relax. I also definitely don’t understand charging a DAILY fee of $7 for an “extra” vehicle, because we have a motorhome and car- but if we had a truck and trailer there’s no fee. Kind of BS, since it all fits in the site the same and that ended up costing more for the week than the initial...
