Recently had two experiences (one work related and one personal)
Had an amazing experience with our DECA chapter. We brought our schools club for one last hoorah to end out the school year. Despite the freezing cold in the middle of May (which obviously they cannot control) it was a lot of fun. Erin greeted us and got us our bands, as well as complimentary return vouchers for their land or water activities. Stephanie had activities for our members to do to build up their leadership skills and to bond with each other. Then we got to do the ropes course which was A LOT of fun despite the weather! After, Matt ensured we had golf carts to cart the 22 of us over the The Rec center, where we warmed up and enjoyed some delicious pizza (seriously, its REALLY good and filling). Overall it was a wonderful experience. We got all this and it was cheaper than other local places we compared it to, and the other places didn't provide food. I cannot wait to return in future years with our chapter for some more team building and bonding.
We also as a family, went camping. We did a site with a pop up. It was with our 3 children (15, 6, and 10mo). I cannot even express the amount of fun we had. I made a rule that there were NO ELECTRONICS allowed, and you no what... there was so much for them to do they didn't even fuss. We went fishing and swimming (the pool was very warm, even with the weather in the 60's). We put Boo Boo and Yogi to bed, and then woke them up. We made donuts with Cindy Bear. We enjoyed the fantastic drone show (seriously, don't sleep on this activity). The kids had a BLAST with the silent disco and the bubble foam party (even my 15yo was laughing so hard and enjoying himself- which he is a tough teenage critic), they have so much walking/biking area so we went on many walks, went to the parks, Boo Boo made a special surprise with bubbles for our kids (this was an extra we paid for, but super inexpensive). The kids even played at the arcade. There were even activities that we just didn't have time to do. We had lunch one time from The Pic-a-nic Basket, which was very yummy and inexpensive. The bathrooms were super clean, every time we went it always smelt and looked like is was freshly cleaned. They have laundry on site though we didn't need to use it. They have a really cute gift shop which we all took part in getting some fun merch (I LOVE MY HOODIE, I wore it all weekend!). With it being colder and the lake being still too chilly we didn't visit Bear Paw Beach, but it's on our list for next time. Our older children told us, they could not wait to go back, they would like to go longer that just a weekend, and there were even tears shed as we were leaving.
I cannot recommend this place enough. It was so much fun for...
Read moreVisited for the first time with my family on the Saturday of Fourth of July weekend, and it was hot and sunny so I'd imagine it was busier than usual. We arrived by 11am and there was ample parking and no wait to enter after purchasing tickets ahead of time. We only utilized the swim area and not the other attractions.
We purchased our 12:00 tickets for the adventure floats ahead of time and the ticket said to arrive for orientation 30 mins ahead of time and made it sound like if you weren't there within 15 mins you would need to reschedule. When my 6 year old nephew and I arrived at 11:30 the teenager told me to come back at 11:55. It was pretty unorganized from this point forward. The teen girls in charge of organizing all participants were flustered and kind of rude in their tone. They didn't check my nephew for his height and the safety video got started at 12:10 and you couldn't even really see it. Nobody checked to make sure we had wrist bands, so anyone could have really entered. I think some minor adjustments could make this experience better. We did end up having a lot of fun and surprisingly all the patrons were pretty polite and mindful of each others experience. The lifeguards were attentive and it felt overall pretty safe. They recommend sticking with your smaller ones and I would advise the same for safety. The beach was overall pretty clean but I did witness a few people breaking rules bringing in glass bottles which was disappointing. I think this could be improved by having staff roam around throughout the beach area. Overall experience was positive and would come again.
However, one major major flaw on the day was the concessions. We had no clue how long it would take to get the food expecting it would operate something like a baseball game. Food and drinks are in a separate line which is just bizarre because they are both long and slow lines. We ordered a burger, a hot dog, and fries, and it took an insane 47 minutes of standing around before we got our food!!!! Had we known it was going to take that long we would have ordered using the QR code and enjoyed our time on the beach while we wait, but they didn't make it clear upon ordering at the register. It made for a lot of angry patrons that put a slight damper on an...
Read moreMe and my family members attended bear paw beach and the yogi bear campsite. The beach is nice. There was an issue with scheduling and angry customers. In my situation I paid to visit the camp and the 50mn adventure obstacle @4:30pm. It turned into 15mn obstacle because of the angry customers. I only got a gift card back for the course at the visitor rate $25. Mind you, I am not able to come back right away, and was told I would have to pay extra for the next visit if I do not pay the visitor pass $17 for yogi bear again or pay full price for the course $30. There is racial bias there. I did see two Caucasian women get there refund back in cash. They did not even pay cash. They used a card. I am Hispanic. I was asking for it to go back on my card only. I showed them a receipt and all. As for the angry customers, their group was cut because of lightning/ racial bias also. They were scheduled at 3:30pm. The manager did not know how to de-escalate the situation. The women asked to get a refund or to let them go in the obstacle. The manager bypassed her request and did not offer either one. Mind you this group was one of the only groups that was black. That made them upset. There was a safety risk with the capacity, but they were angry enough to try and go in with the 4:30pm group. So the manager called the whole 4:30pm group out because of the capacity with the only 3:30 group that was cut end up going in to protest the managers bad service decisions. It’s sad to see that this racial bias was happening. And that a manager was unable to de-escalate the situation. When the women asked for a refund due to the circumstances. It would only be reasonable to do so at the customers request. Rather than risk the safety of 400 visitors. Which is the capacity of the obstacle course, stated by the manager. Please do better customer service and ethics wise. Please retrain your staff and be sure they don’t uphold this racial bias, even if it’s subconscious. This type of behavior from the companies representatives is highly...
