Cameron Inn — Hotel in Canistota Township

Nothing like a real hotel or motel. Place is dirty especially the outside. Beds are comfortable. Rooms are big enough. Full kitchen to cook in and share. Stove is horrible lowest settings still to high. Fridge barely cold. They cater to Amish that visit Ortman Clinic, so they don’t keep their standards up at all they figure they will return no matter what as most guests are staying a week. They take advantage of their continuing amish returns and dont keep the place kept up. Grounds are overgrown and garbage everywhere. Carpet filthy and stained. Price is acceptable for the area. No staff around so if you need anything you’re on your own. Also be careful in this town angry men who attack women in this town didn’t feel safe at all. Do not recommend this place at all. I will never stay in this town again. Not a friendly town at all. Rude people is what I found mostly!! You would think all the business the Amish bring to this community they would treat guests visiting their community better! Shame on...

We were on our way to Mt Rushmore, and had to stop for the night. About 5 miles off I-90 is a little town called Camisota. The motel we stayed at was the Cameron. Very very reasonable at $43.00 for a room with frig, microwave, coffee maker, whirl pool tub in the bathroom, recliner, and queen sized bed. Very comfortable, people very nice. Breakfast was in the Brick Oven Restaurant right down the street. It is in an old fashioned hotel, the breakfast is excellent and hot at $5.25 each for 2 eggs, bacon, potatoes, toast and coffee. If you are headed across South Dakota and want a nice place to stay that's a few miles off of I-90, this is the place. They have regular rooms and suites with full kitchens. There is a grocery store across the street. Two restaurants are in walking distance. There is communal kitchen that you can use if you get a standard room. Rates are reasonable and the place is clean. We had a family reunion there this summer and reserved the communal kitchen and adjoining great room. It...
