Town N’ Country Motel — Hotel in Canistota Township

Where do I begin. I pulled up Monday morning. Nobody on site. 4 room. The office was rented out by a lady who was weird and yelled at me. Next I got ahold of owner to find out how to get in. He gave me a code. This room was paid in advance. I retrieved the key and entered the room. I was just in shock on how this could even be a room for rent. I look around and decided. NOPE!! There is no way in hell, I am staying. I called the owner to get a refund. He declined the refund. Owner asked for my concerns and I told him. He then said no Hampton Inn is located in this town. But he was wrong. He told me he needed to pay the mortgage and there is no refund. I replied with I am giving you a notice. A required 48 hour by law notice. But what I should of said was not law and I meant to say policy and to refund Wednessay and Thursday and to keep Monday and Tuesday fee. Again he refused to refund the money!! Later I received a txt message from him, if I would go back and take photos of my concerns. Which I did. But, I should have left it well alone but I was being nice to walk there and take photo. I took photos and a video. Sent them to him. Along with my concerns to each photo. He told me he put that board under the frigerator himself. Well, I could of done a better job at remodeling this area. Please view photos. This is no joke!! I got excuses after excuses and was told there was no way the corn was in the room. But the photo shows corn. Floor was never swept. I honestly do not know how anyone could of rented out this room for that fee. The current owner is using photos from the last owner. This place literally is not what he advertised. Please read reviews before booking.

My concerns: Floor not swept. Ceiling tiles in bathroom missing Rust around ceiling, water stain tiles. Clearly no venting in this bathroom. Rotted out board under frigerator. Corn on the floor, which makes me think mice problem. Comfortable on bed not matching, however he had someone change it after I complained and before I took photo.

Still no refund!! But remember he needs to pay his mortgage and has other bills cause everyone keeps cancel on him. Ok well does that tell you something, while your in Arizona. Maybe come back and get this place into suitable shape for renting out. If others are canceling then, I guess that was no shock to him when I canceled.

I would not rent this out to anyone. Sure he installed new floor, but installed to tight. Air bubbles under neither and floor does not lay down flat...

This place is a scam. It needs to be removed from Booking, Google, and AirB&B. I’ve already reported it on every website it’s available on. First of all, nobody is on site. It’s a horrible location to find yourself, NO lighting around the building until you’re driving up in the empty and desolate parking lot with clearly abandoned vehicles. You’re met with a sign on the “office door” to call for help with the phone provided inside that doesn’t work. So my husband pulls out his cell phone to call and we get no answer, head back out to the car, only to be met with a text message after 5 minutes or so asking if we were “looking for a hotel room.” Replied with the fact that we had already made a reservation through Booking and provided the confirmation number. Then to be told that the person managing the phone is NOT the owner and that “the rooms were full”. There was literally NO body there. Not to mention that I did make this reservation way in advance and let them know I would be checking in late. (12A-1A) so they knew it would be hard for us to find a hotel to stay at afterwards. Sioux Falls is a 40 min drive from here anyway. It’s 2:30AM and I still haven’t found a hotel. For some reason, the refund was sent through Cashapp. (as if he didn’t want it sent through Booking.) Do not provide this guy with any of your information.

My experience aside, THIS PLACE is a scam, and it’s likely DANGEROUS. DO not stay here. If you notice aside from my review, the only 5Star is the owner himself. Also, my refund was sent after being told the guy texting wasn’t the owner; by none other than - the owner.

I am thanking the fact that my husband was with me during this trip, and my children were not. This place is a huge red flag and I fear for young women and men staying here alone because of the alluring...

The guy I had spoke with was polite and caring. As I am sure I either woke him or kept him up answering my call after midnight to see if I could get a room! All rooms in Sioux Falls were well over what I wanted to spend, this guy put my cousin and I up.

When showing up yes it did take us a few to find the motel as it is further back off the road l! It’s not all fancy outside that’s true, but as my cousin and I walked in to our room we were both amused with the accommodations with the room. Had more than some of the fancy hotels had and the room smelt good compared to some of them that just smell of the heater or the a/c.

I use to work at a 5 star hotel and yes this one is not a 5 star hotel but as a family tan/operated small town this is a decent place to crash for the night. After booking I looked at the reviews seen the ones about dirty sheets so had to check mine and they were far from...
