My stay started off pleasant, unfortunately it did not last for long, the biggest issue was the âpolicyâ regarding housekeeping, if a do not disturb sign is placed on the door the hotel staff should honor that, I was informed the housekeeping staff schedule and board and that management told them it was required for them to come inside the room so I had a brief discussion with one of the housekeeping staff and informed her I was not notified by front desk. I heard on other side of the door housekeeping being asked if they came into our room and what sounded to be a woman replied yes, though housekeeping NEVER came in our room, so I contacted the front desk to get further details regarding this matter, he stated that they were required to come in and that I can speak to management, but sheâs going to tell you the same thing. I asked approximately when will management be available, he stated â I donât knowâ I went to the front desk and asked for two rolls of toilet paper and decided to get more clarity about the housekeeping ordeal because now me and my family arenât feeling welcomed or comfortable about the rest of our stay here, so I asked the man at the front desk if I donât want cleaning services, what will happen, and he proceeded to tell me about how housekeeping are required by a state ordinance, so I asked him does he have that in writing, any documentation or a contract and he told me to google it, but he stated if we didnât want cleaning service, we would have to get out, then he called forth another staff member whom I learn whose name was Tammy, who only agitated the conversation by getting defensive and she also told me you can speak to the manager but sheâs going to tell you the same thing, I asked when she will be available and the response was I donât know, and walked away from the desk completely disappointed. I decided to complete a survey about my stay regarding this matter and got a response from the manager Katie Perkon, whose response was argumentative and defensive, speaking about a matter that she wasnât physically present at any time, so itâs clear that Tammy and the guy at the front desk lied about the details regarding that exchange, no surprise. Itâs clear certain staff at this hotel have this defensive attitude, and no proper human relation skills or true hospitality, and like to use deceitful tactics to justify their actions and behavior, there have been other inconveniences my family and I experienced during our stay where the only solution was to move to another room, in which we complied and followed until we didnât want to keep moving to a new room any longer. Just disappointed with the disrespectful and arrogant attitude exhibited by some of...
Read moreDefinitely has the capacity to be a 3.5 star reviewed hotel at least. The front desk staff were nice, especially Tally who checked me in. The housekeeping staff were also nice. Considering that this work may be stressful, it was good to see those I interacted with generally being nice. There is generally a breakfast 'item', not breakfast and that was advertised correctly when I booked - a muffin, I think and coffee as well.
A couple of minor concerns - when I first checked in, there was a lump/ball sized paper ball (that was probably made wet before being thrown) stuck to the wall that was ugly/turn off. They removed it the day after I checked in due to the check-in day being a holiday. This should/could have been removed before checking me in. Also, one of the housekeeping ladies looked at my white bottom and asked if I had wrapped the bedsheet around my waist - an unnecessary microaggression. Please ask your staff to not present such questions even if tempted to ask them. Thirdly, when I first entered the building, the smell felt very stenchy and unpleasant. It might have been the fragrance you are using that I did not like, but at least to me, it felt like bad odor. Lastly, while I booked with points, they still charged my card (not incidental fee) for whatever reason, but refunded it appropriately after raising a concern.
The real reason I am only giving 2 stars is not due to the above points but the following one: The staff told me not to smoke in the room, but when I entered the room, all I could smell was residual cigarette smoke - both in the room and the bathroom. When I brought up the issue, they just offered me a room spray which barely helped. An alternative room was also not offered. Every time I left the room and came back in, the smell became apparent and then while in the room, I got desensitized to it. I am also not sure if there are risks from second-hand smoke, but the smell itself was a sufficient turnoff. Since it was a 5-day stay, I just put up with it. This is something that should be addressed and rooms with smoke smell should not be rented or if they are, after consultation with and consent of the customer and offered for free.
All in all, for the low cost of accommodation, the kindness of the staff and the general environment are reasonable and if some of these issues are addressed, it could easily rise up to be a 3.5 star reviewed hotel for a low price hotel. Wish...
Read more2/3-4/23 around 8:30 am, I awoke to water flooding out of the ceiling fan in the bathroom! I called the front desk, 2 diff clerks rushed to see & put a huge, dirty garbage can on the toilet but neither brought a new room key! Calling 15 min later, the female desk clerk rudely said they were dealing with multiple issues including the elevator being broken. I said that I'd need a new room on the same floor since I couldn't carry my luggage up/down stairs. That's when this rude woman (Katie?) actually said,"You're checking out in like, 2 hours. You're not GETTING a new room!" as if I was 'scheming'! I said,"How am I supposed to shower with the water turned off?!" She actually said,"You're welcome to use the sink." Frustrated, I said,"You know if there's no water in the shower, there'd be no water in the sink, right?!" Knowing she couldn't counter that, she pivoted to being a Karen, pretending to be offended/scared saying,"Don't come at me like that! I'm dealing with multiple issues here!" I said,"I've saved this hotel I don't know how much by reporting this flooding and you're acting like I'm the problem for wanting to shower?! If I can't shower and brush my teeth before I leave, I need a full refund." She hung up on me then made sure to leave the front area before I checked out. I was surprised they didn't try to keep my $50 cash deposit. This was a terrible experience. P.S. Don't be fooled by any response to this review from management; they specifically hire these low-wage types (instead of those with hospitality degrees) to be the junkyard dogs guarding against issuing refunds. Even the booking website called & she wouldn't authorize a refund. Considering a small claims lawsuit because I have pictures! P.S.S. Anyone doubt my version JUST from Katie's Jerry Springer-response? Glad I waited to upload the pics of what Super 8 thought was a 'SMALL' leak; small wastebaskets are in the room, they brought what was needed. Anyone know how plumbing leaks from the ceiling are handled by NOT shutting off the water?! No mention of the broken elevator. How many amenities have to be broken for Super 8 to refund guests?! And who in the world would want to return anywhere Katie...
