Chairlift at Doves Rest Cabins — Hotel in Canyon

We had an amazing time at Palo duro and we owe it to this place! There is so much to be said in favor of staying here and not enough space to say it in. We enjoyed our long weekend in what felt like complete solitude. All of our needs were anticipated beforehand down to even the laundry pods. We ate most of our meals in the cabin because there was a full kitchen and everything we needed to prepare meals. This saved us a great deal of our food expense and time as well since there are no close by towns. The views are breathtaking right from the windows of the cabin. We were blessed by a whole herd of sheep arriving one evening and grazing in front of the cabin. The park entrance is a short drive down the road and we went twice to hike and explore down there however there are several going trails right outside the cabin for along the rim which were also lovely. We hardly saw any other people the entire time we stayed. There were board games in the cupboard which we played and enjoyed and one evening we watched a movie together while a storm lit up the horizon outside the windows. We absolutely loved our stay in the ChairLift at Doves Rest Cabins! The cabin was beautiful, very clean, and well organized. The beds, while rather high, were very comfortable. The ChairLift’s location on the west rim offered spectacular views of Palo Duro Canyon; especially, the dramatic sunrise and sunset lighting impacts on the landscape each day. We enjoyed pinpointing the cabin’s location relative to points visited during trips into Palo Duro Canyon State Park. First of all, you come here for the views and it did not disappoint! The cabin was very nice and came with everything you needed except for food of course. The living room is set up to take advantage of the view at all times. Perfect for sunrises as the windows and porch face east over the canyon.
