The Good What a beautiful, convenient location. We've been to Sanibel/Fort Myers numerous times and we've always wanted to stay at this hotel. We were excited about the onsite restaurants and the views and the closeness to Sanibel/Captiva.
We stayed in the Sanibel Tower (main building). When we arrived, we were greeted by valet. We checked in and self-parked our car - which was very convenient and close to the elevators. Parking was also underground (kind of) so even if it was raining, we didn't get wet walking to the car.
The room was on the 10th floor facing the Sanibel bridge. It was awesome... especially at sunrise and sunset. The showers have shampoo, conditioner and bodywash in them. That's convenient.
The hotel smelled like flowers. It was lovely and tropical. The pool was refreshing and the service was great.
The Bad The onsite restaurants. There was a bakery (which we couldn't find), Charley's bar, the Tarpon House and a steakhouse. The bar and cafe sold the SAME food - just differently priced. That was disappointing because we thought we'd experience different meals at the different restaurants. The bartenders and servers leave the bar to go to the other cafe to get the food. Weird. The first night we were there, 6 of the kegs were tapped because "the deliveries were late". The steakhouse was CLOSED. That was VERY upsetting since we stayed here specifically for this eating establishment. Nothing was noted on the website or the reservations telling us that it was closed. Very annoying.
There was also a pool bar but that closed at like 4pm every day, which was strange because it was WAY better to be by the pool when the sun was setting. That bar wouldn't gotten WAY more business then. There were even people sitting at the closed bar eating their own take out!
The Bimini Bait Shack (which is not a resort restaurant, but next door) is TERRIBLE. Don't go there. it's all greasy fried foods and no air conditioning.
The hidden fees. The "resort" fee was mentioned on the reservation [Hotel Fees ($156.95 USD Resort fee) will be collected by the property itself at check-in or check-out]. A resort fee is a mandatory daily charge added to a hotel's advertised price to cover various amenities and services, such as Wi-Fi, pool access, fitness classes, and cultural activities. The only amenities were the WIFI and the pool, but the DAILY resort fee, according to my bill, was $25! We stayed 6 nights so we paid an extra $150 for an hour of swimming and WIFI use.
You have to PAY SEPARATELY to park there. Self-Park was an additional $20 a night! I don't understand why you would pay to park at a place that you are already staying at. I could understand if I was near the airport but we were in the middle of nothing so the only reason we'd park there is if we were staying there. Come on.
The Word Salad online. Every room on the "water view' side had a great view. They label the rooms differently when you book and the price increases for "better" views. We paid over $315 per night because we had a 2-queen room Sanibel View. Meanwhile, rooms that were "water view" had the same view, just cheaper - WAY cheaper. I hate that. There's water on BOTH sides of both towers so whatever room you stay in, you'll have a view. Book the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy bf booked this trip without a clue of how astonished we would be with our experience! |To start- we were welcomed with so much excitement. And being welcomed that way totally made us smile. We decided to take pickleball lessons with Ninkaā and we arenāt pickleball players. We had the BEST lesson! It was social, engaging, and full of laughter. She loves her career you can tell she is happy and fulfilled . We spent almost every day we could at the spa. The massages were ON POINT. My male masseuse Michael (sp?) is a phenomenal masseuse. I am an avid massage goer and his was so beyond amazing deep tissue with true knowledge of muscle and how to readjust. My whole body was off kilter and it helped. We did the couples massage experience with aromatherapy in the lounge, eucalyptus towels, water, apples, rose petals, and a private place to be as we waited. My boyfriendās massage helped him so much! He is not so commonly someone who goes and he lifts weights and all that- he was like OMG that was SOOO good. So thank you to his masseuse as well. I wanna say her name was Sarah or Shannon but I forgot where I wrote down her name. We also were greeted by Brandy who signed us up for everything, made me giggle and not feel so weird about using ALL the amenities- Egyptian tea and all. ||Evelin at Tarpon House was the best server. Ā Ā Ā Read moreI would like to speak to the general manager because my stay has not been very good at all. My expectations as a Marriott resort were left short by 1000%. First, upon checking in at approximately 10 pm after a long 3-hour drive and arriving in our room we were given a room facing an empty pool that wasn't the nicest welcoming but understood if that was all they could offer me. Next, went in to shower and was greeted by construction debris all over the sink. Clearly, no one checked the room before I arrived in it. I called the front desk and they dispatched someone to come clean it. They took over 30 minutes and I was dying to just go to sleep! The bleach smell was overbearing but it was better than the construction debris. changing rooms was not even offered. The next morning we left for the beach. Mr. Nelson was kind enough to offer us chairs, towels, and waters. That was very kind of him. Upon our return to the room at around 2 pm Housekeeping had not been done. I called the front desk to ask why and their response was "They'll get to it" and hung up on me. So we decided to go downstairs to enjoy the sun and the pool while giving them time to clean. After almost an hour and a half in the sun, I had a bad headache and went to my room. To my surprise, it was now 4:56 pm, and STILL no housekeeping. I called yet again the front desk to advise and the kind lady was very apologetic and asked if I wanted them to come right away I asked to please now give me an hour because my head was hurting and I needed a nap. After 30 minutes housekeeping showed up at my door and pretty much told me it had to be done now or she was leaving. So she started cleaning while I was showering and my partner was waiting in the balcony. This was ridiculous that our privacy was violated and forced to be uncomfortable because housekeeping didn't do their job at the proper time. They had all day! Then comes the evening. I was awoken by banging and pounding on walls. I called the front desk and no answer, I wrote on the app, no answer, I called from my cell phone. NO ANSWER. For over two hours, I was trying to reach the front desk and NO ONE ANSWERED. This was from 10-12 am. I was FURIOUS! Then in the morning NO ONE would apologize, offer anything for my horrific night. So I advised that I was NOT going to be paying for one of the horrible nights of my stay. That was granted but NO SUPERVISOR bothered to apologize for such a HORRIFIC weekend. Besides the fact, they overcharged my bill by adding an extra day of parking and double self-parking and valet for each night. I mean everything was a complete MESS! Lastly, my checkout was rushed as if there was a fire. The older man who helped us with our bags from the room was rushing us out the door he almost made us carry bags since he was rushing. By the way, NO ONE was waiting for him to finish. He had enough time to finish with US. As you can see my experience was HORRIBLE and I have yet to hear an apology from the managers or any compensation like extra points or anything for my troubles. I'm still waiting for a response from SOMEONE to make me the least bit pleased with feeling appreciated and apologetic for the disaster your hotel caused on my...
