I have to admit that this was one of the worst steak houses, from all over the world, we have been to. We travel a lot international and are writing articles for food magazines back in Switzerland. As appetizer we shared a crab cake which was really good, so we had high expectations for the main courses. We ordered lamb racks (raw-medium) and a NY Strip Steak au Poivre (medium), as side dishes caramelized Brussel Sprouts with Bacon and Sautéed Broccolini. First the good thing. The Lamb was good made, nevertheless not as ordered raw-medim, rather on the medium side. The Sutéed Broccolini was okay, a bit undercooked as too chewy. The absolute desaster was the NY Strip Steak which was totally burned on one side! And I mean not a bit burned! It was served without any comment, loveless arranged with a blotch of the pepper sauce on it. Not a nice picture for a piece if meat. The caramelized Brussel Sprouts with bacon were as well totally burned, only rosted black on one side in a pan. No sign of the caramelizing, the backon dry and hard (made the appearance of beeing pre made bought). As we claimed the it was explained to us that this is the way they do it and people like it. Anyway the steack was exchanged, I accepted the Brussels Sprouts and was eating the ones which were not overburned. In general I beleve it is extremely sad if a piece of meat, no matter from which animal has to be returned and will be thrown away! As this was an animal dying just to be thrown away. As an excuse we got a plate of the clamb soup which was good. The replaced steak was berrer made, but too well done for medium. The meat was chewy. So again not a nice food experience. So to sum up, we had som good food there, but as a code of honor a chef should not send out a meal like this. This gives me a big ? of the chefs standards. The service was good, I have to point out that this bad experience was only caused by the...
Read moreWhile most people in my party of 6 gave it a 3 star review, I think it's more like 2 stars, maybe 2.5.
The "esteemed" "Courtside Steakhouse" was a major disappointment. 1) While the waiter was nice, he was totally too casual for a place like this which charges premium dollars! 2) For a steak house, one of my parties steak was brought out rare while he ordered medium, sad. My "special" fillet steak with crab cake was OK, honestly mine are better tasting and the crab cake was 95% breading. My wife's appetizer of "Lump" crab meat was more like a small tablespoon of shredded crab. 3) The waiter essentially tossed the dessert menus around the table like a Vegas dealer and never even engaged us about dessert. 4) The wine prices were outrageous. I can understand markup but a $90 retail bottle was listed on the menu for $425 and that's just highway robbery. 5) Overall, for the above issues, the total prices was way too high, probably double the price, in my opinion, for what was received. I'm not against paying that amount for a great experience, but this was far from great.
We dined on a Saturday night and it was not a full house. Oh, and I forgot, we waited probably 15-20 minutes after we finished our appetizers before dinner was brought out.
Not what we would expect form such a high priced...
Read moreWe were unfortunately disappointed with our recent experience at Courtside Steakhouse. We were in town for a conference taking place at the resort and thought we would have dinner at the on property steakhouse for convenience. Our waiter was relatively nice but honestly difficult to deal with. When asked how items were prepared, members of our party were asked "if they had a problem with that" rather than saying something to such as "its normally prepared this way but I'd be happy to ask the chef if he can accommodate your request". The same happened when asking for a fresh brewed cup of coffee. Even Denny's will at least tell you they are happy to brew a fresh pot. Here we were told, "well I COULD do that for you but I assure you there's nothing wrong with the pot we brewed earlier".
The food was certainly pretty good but the service and the fact that the restaurant is currently only accessible via stairwell due to a broken elevator made our party of partially handicapped individuals less than enthusiastic about visiting again for future visits to Ft. Myers. We expected better service than a diner when eating at a white...
