I have just returned from a weekend at Bretton Woods. We stayed at The Lodge and unfortunately our experience was quite disappointing. We have been coming to Bretton Woods for years as our daughter (8) participates in the New England Disabled Sports program. We typically rent a condo or stay at the main hotel, but this weekend it was just three of us and the vacation week price at the hotel was far too much so we opted to take a room at the Lodge. We arrived at 10:30 pm to find a handwritten sign on the door of the Lodge telling us that we needed to go to the main hotel across the street to check in. It was -18 degrees and my 8 year old was asleep in the car. Once we were checked in and back at the Lodge, we trekked up the stairs to our room. Upon entry, there was dirt on the floor of our room. The boot trays by the door were caked with salt and sand and did not appear to have been cleaned for quite some time. The tiles in the bathroom floor were also dirty and chipped. Parts of the door were falling onto the floor. The drain in the shower did not work correctly so when taking a shower, the water was midway up my calves. The shower then dripped all night long each night. There were cobwebs around the room including on the sprinkler head on the wall. We found hair (not ours) in the bed and the sheets were stained. My husband put a towel on his pillow so he would not have to put his head on it. The bed was made each day but the trash was not removed and the small sink near the closet was not cleaned. The toiletries in the bathroom were old and had apparently exploded and were leaking. ||||As I said, we have loved coming to Bretton Woods for years with our family of 5. Each of our children has learned to ski at Bretton Woods and as I mentioned, the NEDS program has been wonderful for our daughter. She survived a stroke in utero and has loved the individual attention she has gotten from the amazing coaches.||||Unfortunately our room in the Lodge (202) is in a state of disrepair. In addition to that, the cleaning crew did a less than acceptable job each day. For the over $800 we spent on three nights at the Lodge, we certainly did not feel the cleanliness or overall state of the room was acceptable. We chose not to complain because honestly, even if the room had been cleaner, the general state of disrepair and grime would not have been remedied quickly. I initially sent this as an email to the manager of the Lodge and the Omni Mt Washington Hotel but have not received any response. We will not stay at the Lodge again. While we would like to return to Bretton Woods, we will certainly think twice about where we choose to stay. The overall amenities of Omni are excellent and for our daughter , who does have a physical disability, staying on the mountain is ideal and she (and we) absolutely loves the NEDS program. Unfortunately as I mentioned, the accommodations at the Lodge are subpar and not at all worth...
Read moreWe stayed here this past weekend. We actually stayed at the Omni Resort a Month ago, so are able to compare the two. First off, the price of the room at the Lodge is obviously better if you are looking to save money. You have full access to the Resort amenities so we felt we didn’t need to splurge again on the resort room (although worth it to go once). The room is fine, it’s a hotel room. Bathroom was outdated and shower curtain was totally nasty. But otherwise the room served its purpose. The biggest issue is there are NO guest services over here. Upon check in there is no where to check in. There is a closed main office with a sign that says “check in at main lobby” If you had no idea the resort and lodge were affiliated you may not know that it means to go across the street and check in at the resort. We actually had to direct people from our balcony on where to go. Maybe better signage if your check in is closed? The lodge is like the forgotten property.. there is no one here. Need to reach the front desk? The front desk and guest services lines have been disconnected when you call from the phone in the room. Need a towel or some toilet paper? Good luck cuz you ain’t finding some or getting ahold of anyone to get you any. Need ice or cups? There aren’t any. Upon check out we didn’t actually know if we needed to go back to the resort to return our keys. So we called the resort line, get someone in reservations who transfers us to the operator who then transfers us to the resort front desk and they don’t even know what we’re supposed to be doing over at the lodge. Not sure if it’s COVID related but I expected better from Omni. To make a long story short if you’re looking to save some money, but still get a nice view, this is the place. But don’t expect anything else and any...
Read moreI was actually a little nervous when I realized booking “The Lodge” I would be across the street from what looked like an amazing resort. I tried to get the actual Omni, which is what you see across the street and on the hotel website..but it was sold out. Once I got there I realized I struck gold! The main building was so large that I was walking for days to find the coffee shop and pool. I had asked the front desk where to go but the directions weren’t clear and I was just in tears in the lobby. A very nice man that worked there came out, asked if I was ok, escorted me to the coffee shop, and then offered to get me water while I sat down. I have Lyme disease and my body was just shot from the walking. (Walking because my car was parked so far from ordinary, apparently they valet, I never saw anyone)…anyway the guy was so kind and made sure the coffee I ordered was taken care of after seeing me so upset. Customer service is above and beyond. Why did I love the lodge across the street? I parked my car right out front of my room, the bed was literally the most comfortable bed I’ve encountered at a hotel (and I travel a LOT, been to some very high end exclusive resorts too..nothing was ever this good!) The hotel is very private and set up on a hill that looks at the mountains and main hotel, a gorgeous view. We had a slider door that led out to a nice, private sitting area. I absolutely loved it. There is a coffee maker, a tv, a mini fridge…and it was CLEAN. I highly recommend this place. Don’t be fooled by the lesser price and location. It was absolutely perfect for what I felt like staying in the mountains should be like. The actual resort was way too busy and large for my liking. We attended a wedding a mile away and this was the BEST place to relax...
