Bretton Arms was disappointing from beginning to end. Traveling with my sister, we knew we were going to get in late. We were hoping for 10:00 pm, but with traveling in the snow, our arrive time was closer to 11:30pm. I called at 10:15 and the front desk attendant said he would be leaving at 11:00 and directed us to check in at the main hotel. Walked into the mostly empty lobby (a few guests gathered around a table) and heading to the empty check in desk. Tried to ring the bell...broken, tried to shake the bell...nothing, banged it on the counter a couple times, just to make enough noise to alert somebody...nope. After raising my voice and asking "Anybody there?" a person finally came out and checked us in, gave us our key and directed us to the Bretton Arms. ||||Arriving to a very parking lot, two parking lot lights were out and we had to navigate from the lot in snowy slippery darkness with our luggage. The room seemed comfy enough until further inspection.||||The room did not seem to be cleaned thoroughly. There was a streak of mouthwash down the side of the sink. The bathroom lacked makeup removal wipes and a grab bar for the tub.||||The bedroom window blinds were broken so you cold not open or close them. The room had two chairs, but no table to sit and eat or play on your laptop. No coffee maker. No information book about the hotel or surrounding attractions or restaurants. The nightstand was so sticky I had to peal off my jewelry from it the next morning and rinse in the sink.||||We slept late and got down to eat breakfast about five minutes before closing. They had already cleaned away the coffee station. Looked in the lobby, but no coffee there either, just some cookies. The breakfast buffet was adequate. Oatmeal needed salt. The servers very courteous and did bring us some coffee, and I do understand we were there right before closing.||||We did explore the main hotel (The Cave, Stickley's, Gift Shops) and everyone we came in contact with there were top notch.||||Upon checking out I voiced my disappointments and the very young desk clerk apologized and said he would contact maintenance. After I asked for a printed receipt he realized that he had checked out the wrong room and corrected it.||||I have been in and still am in the hospitality business. This was not what I would have expected from an...
Read moreI have been in the high-end experience and hospitality industry for the better part of the last decade, and have stayed at Omni hotels all over the country, and this location is wildly overpriced for what you get. We booked here for my birthday thinking we were getting a luxurious weekend in the mountains during peak fall season and honestly wished we hadn’t. The room was very outdated. The bed, which was called a queen, is most definitely a full size bed. I measured it. While this location is within walking distance to the main Mt Washington Omni building, we were pretty unimpressed with that also. The building is huge, and very old, but needs serious updating. There was a leak in the ceiling of the main dining area during breakfast, maybe expected with an old building, but the furniture throughout was also broken and very dirty. The food and coffee in the main building was disgusting. We spent over $350 on food over 2 meals and were so disappointed. Breakfast was a buffet (cold and undercooked) and we were charged $60 for it. We bought coffee ($15 for two iced coffees) at Morsels the cafe on the first floor and literally walked outside and dumped it out. There isn’t anywhere else to eat for 30-40 mins. Zero fluff with a very high price tag throughout the entire experience. The staff was very nice, but overall I would NOT stay here again and would not...
Read moreSeriously disappointing. But first, to their credit, the staff was beautiful along with the grounds. Now to why they get 2 stars from me. Grant it, I'm used to resorts where one gets, not only an amazing staff and view, but equally amazing rooms and anything else you can dream up of for a price not too far off from this Omni. This Omni was old and in need of a good overall remodel. I heard they did this and if they did, then it was poorly done. The room furnishings were worn and really poorly situated. (I'm not talking an antique look either--just old and worn) If you stay at the INN you will have flies in your room and dogs barking all day long and at times in the evening. The main hotel is not much better either as far as the rooms are concerned. The spa is OK, but walking around the grounds was very nice. You really don't get much for the price. I wouldn't mind paying high prices for things but I'd like to feel that I get what I paid for and with Omni in the White Mountains, I didn't. Not at all. The rooms really need major change. This is not a Luxury hotel. This is all about the land. Oh, and you don't get a view from the rooms. (unless its the very high end room which isn't much either) If you think THIS hotel is luxury...you need to get out more. If only Disney could take over...
