Rude and absolutely disrespectful foriegn owned establishment. I posted a picture of my girlfriend and I on this review so everyone can see that we are not hoodlums or Riff Raff or bad people in any way.
It's the weekend before the fourth of July and most of our local hotels have raised their rates to the realm of a house payment. I'm searching for a decent rate when I see the owner of the local Red Roof Inn outside of his hotel. I walk up to the owner and ask him his rate for the night, he proceeded to eyeball me from the top of my head to the ground and then back again before saying $49.99 + tax. I immediately reply great I'll take it to which he tells me he doesn't have any rooms clean at the moment and it will be about 4p.m. before he is ready for me to check in. Now mind you it's 2p.m. and for some reason it didn't strike me as odd that he didn't have any rooms ready to rent. Well I proceeded to wait patiently in the hot sun for not the agreed upon 2 hours but 4 that's right 4 hours. So I'm finally in the lobby getting checked in when this man of the year type humanitarian of a hotel owner informed me that with that "special" rate the continental breakfast will not be included. I said that's fine because I'm kinda giddy inside at the thought that I got a "special" rate đ ! I'm still on cloud nine about the money I am saving when he tells me room 510 front side second building. This does strike me as odd because in 39 years living around this hotel I can't ever remember them renting any rooms in that building. It didn't take but a few minutes to realize just how "special" my rate was. If the rooms of the main building of the hotel were to be compared with a modest 2 bedroom brick ranch style house then the "special" room I got in the second building was the lawn storage building after a tornado hit it by comparison. Absolute filth covered the room. Debris all over the carpet, sheets and pillows so yellow I honestly thought someone had urinated on them, and last but not least a mysterious red spot in the shower stall. Lucky for me though the maid was present cleaning my room as I was bringing mine and my girlfriend's luggage in. She looked at us and apologized for not being finished but stated that the owner hadn't asked her to clean it until after she was done with her other rooms. Yep that's right the nice recently remodeled rooms in the building they actually use for "guests". Anyways I did suck it up and stay because 1) I had no where else to go and 2) if I had gotten a refund it would have taken 3 days to clear the bank so I would have basically been broke. My money was too tight at the moment to go without any of it for one day much less 3. Now for the kicker he had vacant rooms in the main building the parking lot never got over 1/3 of the way full all night long. Even though I suffered through all this the next day I still needed a place to stay for the upcoming night and I didn't really feel like moving all our stuff. So come check out time I walked to the lobby to pay for another night. When I told the owners wife who is working the desk that I would like to purchase another night she looked at me and didn't say anything for a moment before finally saying that said room is reserved for the night and the guy paid a month ago. I guess he must like the quaint nostalgia of filth while trying to relax đ¤ˇââď¸?! So that makes me outta luck for tonight because for the first time in history the Red Roof Inn of Caryville Tennessee has NO VACANCY! đ¤đđ¤Żđ The good news is I found a really nice room at the Super 8 next door and if I feel like it I will walk up after dark and snap a few photos so everyone can see just how much vacancy the Red Roof has. To end if you are traveling through Caryville Tennessee and the Red Roof Inn is your only option for lodging..... Do yourself a favor and drive up the road to Walmart and buy a tent you'll be...
Read moreHeartbroken, I left my lover in Ontario, and I was traveling southbound on I-75, headed back to Atlanta. Weâd spent the night before in Findlay, Ohio, my fur baby and I, after a harrowing re-entry into the United States â detained at the border, then a horrible detour in Michigan.
Once we left Findlay on the morning of July 28th, the weather took a turn for the worse. Soon, the traffic on I-75 began to back up. Every few miles it seemed there was a construction zone. Trucks in the oncoming lanes plowed through standing water, sending geysers into the southbound lanes and slowing traffic to a crawl. This went on. It seemed to take forever to arrive in Kentucky, but conditions didnât get any better. Several times, I stopped at an exit and searched for a pet friendly hotel on the road ahead, but no luck.
By the time we reached the Tennessee border, the rain came in torrents, along with thunder and lightening, mixed with dense fog. Dusk was falling on the mountainous highway. Tractor-trailer rigs bore down on my bumper one after the other on the downhill stretches, and there were more construction zones where the shoulders were closed and the lanes narrowed precipitously.
My heart pounded with fatigue and anxiety. My poor kitty, the sedation starting to wear off after many hours on the road, began to cry from his crate on the passenger seat. Next exit, Jesus please, get me to the next exit and I will stop no matter what. I cried, loudly, like a child. If there was no hotel, or they wouldnât allow my pet, we would sleep in the car.
Through my tears, I spotted the next exit: Caryville, Tennessee. It was a rural stop. There was one hotel that looked decent. I called, but no pets. Let me just find a place to park, I thought, and weâll just sleep in the car. I drove past a shabby rag-tag flea-bag motel, and up the hill and pulled into a parking lot.
There, across the road, like a mirage, I saw the Red Roof Inn. It looked clean and basic and safe. I went to the desk, and was met by an angel, Deborah Tucker, the manager. She was my sweet Southern auntie, so kind, pleasant and soothing, smiling and calm. Yes, pets accepted. Yes, a ground floor room, for $65 per night. Yes.
Relief flooded over me. I found our room clean and neat, and although the architecture was a bit dated, it was quiet, the furniture was new and the linens fresh.
Just down the hill â strangely, inexplicably â was a tidy little family-owned Japanese restaurant, Takumi, where I slipped in just before they closed and got a box of takeout teriyaki and rice.
My fur baby and I slept rock solid that night. I would stay at that Red Roof Inn, on purpose, if I ever travel...

Original Post: We have stayed at this location multiple times in the past and have never received such terrible customer service or such unsanitary rooms. Upon arrival, it took 45 minutes to check us in because both me and my sister in law who was staying in another room were told we didnât check the box for a pet room. We both did, and had proof. We were then told they didnât have a room for us because of that. We had booked this room weeks in advance. Finally, they got us a pet friendly room which smelled of cigarettes (was supposed to be a nonsmoking room) and urine. I refused to stay in that room as I am pregnant and it is not safe to do so. Finally, we were placed in another room. Still not perfectly clean, but it didnât smell as bad because it had wood floors. The woman at the front desk refused to give us our military discount and said âitâs only 5 dollarsâ but it is actually much more than that as my sister in law is also military and it saved her over $20 for the stay. There is a torn down building next door and nails/wood exc. in the parking lots making us worried we would pop a tire or hurt ourselves or our pup. The âdog yardâ was so disgusting and full of feces that we drove our pup to the lake nearby just to let him use the restroom. After years of staying here when traveling to Norris, we are extremely dissatisfied and will never be...
