I was staying here on Business as I do every month for several days. I had accidentally make my checkout date the 12th instead of the 13th. I noticed that the night of the 11th and called the desk about 2 AM.. I was working nights. They told me no problem. Then in the morning I was called and told I needed to vacate my room as someone had it reserved for the 12th night. I reminded them that on at least 3 occasions when I arrived there the room I had pre booked had been unavailable to me. And asking me to pack up my room and move and than unpack only to have to repack everything when I woke up at 4:30 PM to leave wasn't reasonable. I told the person on the phone also as a Diamond Hilton member I expected better. I was going to bed and notice a note had been slipped under my door. It informed me I needed to check out then and I had to move rooms. I called to speak to the manager. She insisted that if someone pre books a room I have to leave. When I questioned her on why then for at least 3 times when I arrived and my room wasn't available that hadn't been done for me. And 1 time I was told the people had decided to stay. She was unable to give me an answer. Especially when they hotel was empty. I ended up moving rooms after being assured that it would be quite like the room I was in as I needed to sleep during the day for my last 14 night shift in the Emergency Room. The manager tried to hand me a pack with water and a couple of candy bars. Like that helps me from loosing about 1 hour of my sleep time. I got settled in the new room and then the noise began. people stay right next to me had a young child and over the next 1 1/2 hours they and him went in and out of the room to the hall and slammed the door. That finally ended and I was able to sleep. After leaving I again noticed the parking lot had under 10 cars in it. How is it possible that they were unable to find another room for the people checking in when the hotel at the time I was leaving was this empty. I have been overlooking a lot of the problems at the hotel. After checking in 1 time I noticed again a note slipped under my door informing me that they were doing boiler work and there would be problems with hot water. I called the desk and why I wasn't informed of this before checking and they they said they weren't doing it that was. They also after being questioned stated there would be noise and it might be hard for me to sleep during the day. And I was also put on the first floor where there is much more car and people noise for people trying to sleep during the day. I had pre booked a room on the second floor. The breakfast buffet has a small selection and the food sin't as good as when I first started staying here. Definitely not as good the the neighboring Holiday Inn Express. When you go to use the business area with computers and printer there is never a pen or note paper if you need it. If you forget to bring it down from your room. The maids when knocking on doors and asking about cleaning the rooms can be right next to my door with the Do Not Disturb sign and knock very loud and will ask several times very loud about service at the surrounding rooms. Even if you ask the front desk to remind the maids that I will be sleeping during the day it makes no difference. This episode was the final straw. I will not stay here and they lose 60 -70 nights a year from me. I took pictures of the empty parking lot to show how empty...
Read moreIt was okay, but it had some bumps this time around.
We have stayed here before, and it was wonderful (July 2020). However, this time had some bumps. The location and staff were amazing. The pool and pet llamas were great for the kid. Parking was good.
However, our room this time was much smaller and lacked any seating other than a small rolling chair. In addition, the door leading out to the pool would only open a bit less than halfway as it was blocked by one of the beds (Pretty sure this is a significant fire hazard).
I am disabled and have mobility issues. That is why I requested a room that opened outside, so if I needed to evacuate, I could get out easily. Unfortunately, to get out that door, I had to squeeze between the wall and the bed and then open the door partway to get out. I am sure that would be a major inconvenience in a fire. I would also bet the fire marshall has no idea they are booking rooms like that.
During check-in there was supposedly an issue with my card from Booking.com. Somehow, I got charged $50 on one card and $419 on another, all for a $359 stay.
The front desk ended up refunding the $50 on the one card and said the extra charges were some kind of deposit or something. I have stayed with Hilton brand hotels all over the east coast, and this was the first time I have ever been charged anything extra.
The front desk said it should fall off of my card, but so far, it has not. So I guess I'll wait and see.
It was supposed to be two queen beds, but unless the queen mattress we sleep on nightly is just extra-wide, those were not standard queens. The whole room felt very cramped, so I'd be willing to bet with the beds already blocking one door, they are smaller mattresses. Also, not having a nightstand on both sides of the bed was a pain since my wife and I had to pass her phone and glasses back and forth. She could not even put her phone on the floor because the bathroom door covered the only plug on her side.
The breakfast was not as good either. One morning you could ring water out of the eggs and the sausage; it was so watery that it just tasted terrible. The little red skin-on potatoes were the same way, soggy mush. The selection of hot food was just not impressive at all. We basically at bagels most of the time and stopped to grab some breakfast as we left for the day.
The inside was clean, but the outside was a different story. The pool area wasn't cleaned during our 3-night stay. There was a dead lizard by the pool my son found on our first evening there, and it was still there when we checked out. Also, the trash cans in the pool area had a pizza box in them when we got there, and it was still there as we were leaving.
I hope this was just an off week for them. It was so good last time, but we may have to stay somewhere else when we...
Read moreWhen you live in a place that is flat, you welcome any getaway that includes hills or mountains. It’s something you don’t see very much when you call the coastal plains your home, and it makes for a more memorable trip. One hotel that provided this much- needed change of scenery for me was the Hampton Inn in Caryville, Tennessee.||Located near interstate 75, this hotel is nestled right next to mountains and depending on your room, you may end up with an open view of the mountain range. If you like, you can choose to go outside, in the front of the hotel, and sit on one of the chairs or swings where you can soak up the mountain views and fresh air. This is what I did when I visited. I spent almost an hour just swinging back and forth, gazing at the natural beauty.||Inside this Hampton Inn, one will find clean, comfortable rooms. Each morning, you can enjoy the complimentary breakfast, which includes an assortment of cold and hot foods, all you can eat. I liked starting my mornings here, serving myself scrambled eggs, sausage, cereal, and yogurt before beginning my adventure. ||Besides cleanliness and comfort, another important factor in any hotel is the service and I found the service here to be very good. The staff went out of their way to make my stay as enjoyable as it could be. I was also happy to discover that the hotel has a business center because I had some work that I needed to do that was better accomplished on a desktop pc than on my mobile phone. ||It's a refreshing change to see mountain scenery. Ask anyone who lives in flat terrain and they will agree. With the Hampton Inn Caryville, Tennessee, you get the mountain scenery that flatlanders crave, along with great service and comfort. It adds up to a highly recommended place for lodging in...
