My son and his mechanic are traveling the States for Motocross as an amateur racer. My family has been a member of KOA for years and have had no problems with staying in any of their campsites. My son was traveling from Ohio to Casey Illinois on April 4th 2016. The reason they were in the town of Casey is because there is a Motocross track 10 minutes down the road from the KOA called Lincoln Trails MX Park. They were practicing on the Lincoln Trails track prior to race on the weekend. I called Casey KOA and talked with a lady by the name of Kathy and told here that they would be arriving on April 5th leaving on April 7th. I pre-paid over the phone for their stay. I asked if they could accommodate a 43foot Motorhome with a 17foot trailer. She indicated that would not be a problem. They arrive on the afternoon of April 5th checked in and parked in their reservation spot. Jake my son's mechanic unloaded the trailer with 3 dirt bikes and a pressure washer to wash the bikes. They also travel with our dog which is an Alaskan Husky which was tethered to a hook with a cable. Our dog does not bark and is a very friendly quiet well mannered dog. A gentlemen confronted them and told them they could not wash the bikes and informed them to pack them up. Jake asked if there was a spot that they could wash the bikes and the gentlemen said no. They complied and loaded the bikes and the our dog and proceeded to leave to find a place to wash and clean our bikes. They found a gas station down the road that would allow them to wash the bikes. Approximately 2 hours later they came back to the KOA and attempted to pull into their reserved spot and was told by the same gentleman that they were not welcome to stay here and asked to leave. Upon asking why the gentlemen told them to go to the front office. They proceed to the office and spoke with Kathy, which told them the same thing and the reason she gave was too many complaints from neighbors. Jake asked what neighbors and what are the complaints? Kathy informed them that the complaints were the pressure washing of the bikes and our dog. Jake informed her that they did not pressure wash and the dog was put back in the motorhome as soon as they were confronted. She told them we thought you left and went some where else. My son told her you told us we could not clean our bikes here so we found a place to do so and we came back to stay in our pre-paid reserved spot. She responded by refunding them the money for the spot and told them they were not welcome and to leave. Jake asked what neighbors are talking about as there were not campers next to them. Kathy responded we do not want you here at our KOA find some where else to go. My son agreed to leave without causing an argument and were forced to go and find some where else to park in a town where they do not know anyone. Eventually, they found an RV park down the road that would take them in for the night. This is an act of blatant discrimination against two people without any good cause. I did not think this was possible in our age of civilization. This is completely wrong and I have a call into KOA corporate to find out if this is their form of practice. We are members of KOA to protect from this kind of behavior and to stay in places that are dependable and safe. I would not guess in a million years that this kind of behavior would happen to my family.
Kathy refunded our money which is not why I am filing this compliant I am writing because of the treatment that was displayed against my Son. In this day and age discrimination should not be allowed to happen to anyone especially out of state travelers that committed nothing wrong but mutual respect for the facility. I want Kathy which is the owner of the facility to be responsible for the overnight charges for my son to stay in another campsite and a written apology for the treatment that...
Read moreThis had to be the rudest people who I have ever encountered in all my camping experience. The owners, Glenn and Kathy Glickman made our brief stay miserable. I will not fault KOA as I stayed at two wonderful ones previously on the same trip. Kathy will spend most of the time when you check in explaining everything you cannot do. When you are traveling with 4 kids and a small dog, things can get hectic. I was lectured vy Glenn when I checked in that I should have told them I was traveling in 2 seperate cars as parking was an issue. There were only a handful of visitors so parking wasn't an issue at all. My 32 lb. Dog escaped the camper and I had Glenn sit in his golf cart while my family and I tried to get her back. As it was 90 degrees, she eventaully came back dehydrated. Glenn on 3 occassions advised me that someone would have to sit outside and watch the dog (he didn't care about her physical condition) even though he saw she was secured on a chain and I was trying to get her cooled down. After 3 times, I finally responded in a manner I am not proud of. Glenn went into a vulgarity laced outburst, in front of my 13 year old daughter, loud enough to catch the attention of the visitors around us. After a verbal exchange, he advised me that I could leave or have the police called on me. Needless to say they weren't worth the extra time. Kathy was extremely rude to my wife after she had requested a map of the park grounds only to be told that I had already got one. This KOA is horrible. My review is just one of several outlining the lack of courtesy from these people. There are great KOAs along the same route. I would go...
Read moreThe KOA stands out for several reasons. Like the one north of Memphis, it is gravel and convenient to the Interstate. The park is literally bordered by a huge farm, about as Southern Illinois as one can get. ||The owners are the hardest working Ukranian family you'll ever see. The gentleman mentioned in a negative review had just spread a load of fresh gravel as we arrived in our 65-foot motorhome combination, I helpfully offset his tire tracks to help smooth the surface as we pulled into the park. ||He gave the standard spiel of all KOAs about leashing and bag pickup, marshalled me to my site. Then, he dashed back to the idling tractor to spread another load. At the same time, a huge dump truck with bed elevated was doing the park's read exit. ||My 80-foot pull-through had fresh topsoil repair where some previous occupant had damaged the lush grass. Other sites bore evidence of similar repairs by the owner. ||The facilities are spotless, and -- pigs will certainly fly -- the WiFi was decent.||My human-like Havanese can be programmed to stay within ten feet, the owner saw them being obedient, happily waved as he dashed back and forth feverishly alternating between greeting newcomers and fighting gravel wars.||Casey itself is a remarkable Route 66-style gem, the entire population has banded together to make it a prime tourist destination. Intuition suggests this all stems from the golden age of auto travel that started pre-Depression; and, that is completely wrong. A local businessman rallied neighbors in 2009 to save a dying town, and you have to come and see the...
