We wanted to visit Casey, IL -- the small town with the big things -- on a recent trip back to the Midwest. Hotels are somewhat limited in the area, so we picked the Days Inn which was on the north side of town and reasonably priced at around $80 a night. There is plenty of off-street parking with plenty of turn around room. There is plenty of greenspace and walkable areas. It is a pet friendly hotel though there we two different pet fees listed. It is a two-story hotel with an elevator. We had a nice large room with a king bed (had metal supports and a bit noisy), self-contained bath, lounge chair, and desk with chair. There was some hall and room noise. You can walk to a DQ, Pizza Hut, Subway and McD. It is next door to a large truck stop with conveniences. Other things are a short drive away including many of the biggest things. We had free reliable internet and free accessible ice machine. It was mainly a continental breakfast with waffles. We had a mini-fridge with a freezer section as well as a microwave, iron and board, hairdryer. I wish hotels would realize that many guests are offended by the crap on Fox News and the last thing they want to hear or see in common areas like the breakfast nook is this station. With so many other options, turn to...
Read moreIf you have traveled often throughout your life, you are aware of the coin flip chance of a Days Inn being nice or not. This was one of only a few in the area to choose from and honestly, you're better off driving further down the highway if you have the option. The guy at the front desk was nice and got me checked in pretty quickly. The room had 2 double beds that aren't true doubles. They are basically modified twins. They were very firm and not the most comfortable (as I prefer softer beds). The pillows were decent though. I didn't try the TV but the mini fridge worked fine. The WiFi was very inconsistent - worked well for 15 minutes, super slow for 20 minutes, etc etc. The shower stayed hot and didn't fluctuate in temperature like some of the older hotels do. Outlets were a problem and I'll never understand why hotels don't address this issue more often. Seriously, one outlet in between the beds that had the light and clock plugged into. Unplug the clock and you discover the outlet is so loose that it will barely hold your plug. Another outlet between the other bed and the outer wall had the same results. No outlets on or under the desk either. The fridge/mic were using one and the TV was using the other....

A round hard scrabled egg. Hard cold biscuits. Waffles you could cook. Cereal and muffins. I needed to stay a few more hours the next day because of storms coming our way on the hwys. I asked how much that would be. The lady called and they told her 95.00 charge for the whole night. So I paid 95.00 to stay 4 more hours. Got home to find I was charged for 3 nights not 2. I called the hotel where the lady said I was only charged for 2 nights on her end. Theres no way it only shows 2 night charge in thier system if it shows 3 on my bank account. She said it takes a few days for the system to show it correctly but still says it only shows 2 day charge. For me to call back in a few days and she would take care of it. She could have just said sorry. I will fix it. It will take a couple of days to show up in my account. Because im living pay check to pay check it cost me a over draft charge in my account. That ill have to pay. Everyone was very nice there and professional untill i called about the over charge. Thats why i only...
