I traveled from Washington, DC to attend Country Style Cookoff 2024 event in Blenheim, SC. I found this hotel to be nearest to the event for my type of hotel standard. My check-in was fast and quick thanks to the gentleman "Jacoby" at the front desk. He was so polite and friendly also he explained everything you need to know about the hotel amenities in detail and let it be known to call him for anything we need. The pool was right on time since it was a hot weekend. The exercise room was spacious and had more than enough equipment for any type of exercising you do. The room was as I expected, Thank You "Brooke" she was our housekeeper our room was clean and bed was comfortable since I do have back issues and need a firm mattress that was a huge plus for me. The bathroom was decent and the sliding door with no lock was fine with me since I don't need to lock a bathroom door inside my private room(a lot of people complained about it in there reviews didn't really understand why. You should be comfortable with anyone staying in your room. Don't share rooms if a shut door is not private enough for you). The main attraction for me was Dizzy's bar/grill the service was exceptional along with the delicious food and nice ambiance. I enjoyed karaoke and the staff was polite my strawberry margarita was a hit and I can't leave out Dizzies is open to 12 midnight. I must mention the free breakfast was delicious and "Tracy" and "Towanda" gave exceptional service in the breakfast area. It was clean and plenty to eat from waffles, grits, turkey sausage, cereal, bagels, eggs, home fries, sausage biscuit(my favorite), oatmeal, yogurt, coffee, juice and I'm sure I left out something because it was a lot to choose from which was a plus for me. I can't leave out "Tondra" at the front desk who check me out and made me not want to leave. Thank You so much to...
Read moreOur room was very clean and spacious. The living area is a nice touch, for added space. The rooms have a sofa which converts into sleeping for two additional guests, if needed. I love the desk in the room with the half partition. The room appeared to be bug free.
The details in the room were not up to par, though. For guests sleeping on the side opposite of the night stand, there is no accessible plugs (this hotel just opened January 2023, so I think plugs wouldn't be an afterthought). The sink had very slow draining, and the shower, while better than the sink, still drained slowly. The shower curtain was a curtain from Walmart (the Mainstays tag was still attached). The bathroom door also does not lock, has gaps around the side, and has a large translucent pane in the middle.
The gentlemen that checked us in was exceptional. Everytime my family members or I passed him, he inquired if there was anything he could assist with. The staff during breakfast were also very polite.
One issue I had at check in was that an additional incidental fee of approximately $25 was added to my total. I was unaware of the fee, until after check in. At breakfast, the waffle makers were out of order, with no alternative offered by the breakfast staff.
The location of the hotel is in an older small downtown area. The town has a small section they're trying to revitalize. A large financial incentive and land swap were offered to the management company of this hotel, to entice them to the area. The town offers a number of restaurants, bars, and ice cream within walking distance to this hotel. The town feels fairly safe; however, it does appear very rundown and in disrepair, once you wonder off the main street. If you are a light sleeper, be aware that railroad tracks run...
Read moreThis being a newer hotel in the area, we thought it would be a nice, relaxing place to stay. It was a bit pricey so we were glad we only had to stay one night. The hotel is located beside the police department so it was annoying to get woken up during the night from the sirens. After going back to sleep we were again woken up at approximately 5:30am to a loud humming noise coming from the heat/air unit in our room. Which caused the heat not to blow any air at all, we turned the thermostat off but the unit continued with the humming noise. And it was extremely cold outside which caused our room to cool down almost immediately. Then the complimentary breakfast (which is paid for in the room rate) was horrible, not a wide selection of food to pick from and what was offered was not really ordinary breakfast food. The "scrambled" eggs were not completely cooked, they were so runny that water was standing in the bottom of the container they were sitting in! Then the batter for the fix-it-yourself waffles was so thick that it took, at least, 5 minutes to fill up the little 5oz cup so you weren't able to fix a whole waffle especially if you wanted to eat before the rest of your food got cold. To say the least, we were not impressed with this hotel and unless it's an emergency, like this stay was, we will not stay here again nor will we recommend Springfield Suites to family, friends, acquaintances or strangers. We would rather drive 45 minutes to an hour away to stay at a better hotel; one where the staff takes pride in their quality...
