I stayed for two nights in Dorm 1. Rooms are big and I got lucky with being alone in one of the dorm rooms on the first night. The hosts are great and the bathroom facilities are immaculate. Unfortunately the amenities, plugs and clean bathrooms don't outweigh my grievances. Right off the bat there really isn't air filtration in these rooms so it gets dusty. My first night left me dealing with congestion from dust related allergies. Would recommend bringing an antihistamine or something if you have problems with dust. The second night highlighted a new problem. It really isn't a wise location considering the building itself is connected with a bar and music venue next door. Don't expect to turn in for an early nights because things next door can continue on until 11 at night. Dorm 1 is right at the walls between the buildings so it's loud. Also I can hear this repetitive recording of wolf howling into the night I don't know what or why that is. All in all, a great concept, poor location, and rooms aren't...
Read moreIf this is not one of the best hostels I've ever been to, it is certainly the most beautiful. Pre-check-in communication with the hostel was terrific, and after meeting the owners Robert and Lucy I could see why this place is so special! I only stayed one night but appreciated the opportunity to hear live music down at the bar and interact with some of the folx staying at the hostel. The bed in the dorm room was comfy, and the bathrooms immaculate. Towels are provided, which is always awesome for any hostel. All of the rooms are on the second floor - the hostel management is very thoughtful and does warn you about that beforehand. Of possible interest to some folx is that there are also single, large steps getting (1) to the shared bathroom and (2) into the shower - no reason to detract from this wonderful place, and thought it might be useful for folx who may have any mobility issues that could make those steps...
Read moreI was spending 1 night in Clarksdale on my way to a surprise birthday party in Greenwood. I couldn't stay in Greenwood and give away the surprise, so I came a little early to enjoy another spot in the Delta. I didn't really know about all the Blues and what the town was known for, but I caught up quickly. Since I was traveling by myself I wanted to stay in downtown at a fun local spot but also was clean and safe. This place was all that and more. I slept in the 6 bunk room and was glad they had little curtains on each bed. There was a place to stash my stuff out of sight, but I was the only person for that room. The shared bathroom was clean and well equipped. The kitchen had a coffee pot and all that I needed for breakfast the next day. The linens were clean. The beds were comfortable. All in all it was a fun adventure and great...
