Update: I feel obligated to update my initial review to warn everyone to stay far away. First forget any customer service. They will say they will look into your concerns and call you back, but never will. They take your money and leave you out to dry never to be heard from again. I jumped through nunerous hoops to provide documentation as requested when I was able to talk to someone when I called the hotel to follow up on my issues only to be ghosted time and time again. Even Choice Hotels corporate will abandon you and just encourage you to sign up for more promotionals for future stays (I'd rather sleep in my car than in one of their properties again.) Next the texting service they use, they don't actually use. So don't be fooled by the numerous pleasant texts you get, they are evidently fake (yes they expect their customers to know that, because that is totally normal practice). Finally when you give them your payment information you are handing over all your information and consent to be charged for however many nights they want to charge you for, even if you aren't there those nights. Be warned, don't make my mistake, stay far far far far far AWAY! You aren't saving money, you are creating a nightmare.
Bargain not worth the bargain. Booked the room because of the big pool and proximity to activities down. First night at the hotel we were horrified by the amount of hair all around the edge of the pool. Not strands of lose hair from a busy day of users having fun, we are talking massive clumps of hair like you would find at a hair salon. The hotel pays to have someone check wrist bands to control access to the pool but the attendant literally just opens the gate and doesn't seem to care about cleaning the pool area. The water was so cloudy you couldn't see the kids at the bottom of the pool which is a major safety concern. There were no towels at the pool and when I asked the gate attendant he said there weren't any but I could bring my own (who goes to a hotel pool with towels?) I went to the front desk and they said they were out of towels but could give me one and would deliver some later. I returned to the pool where my family was swimming and informed them they'd have to share one towel to dry off (fortunately the entire place was humid and muggy from lack of a/c so they didn't mind the wet walk back to the room). We did see someone bring some pool towels down AND watched as that person collected a discarded pool towel and fold it back up and put it in the "new" pile he brought down.
The room was even worse. Dirty wash clothes were stuffed under the mattress with a bottle of lotion (need I say more?). The amount of dust on every surface was incredible. I have never been to a hotel where the outlet was so filthy I was concerned plugging in my hair dryer my start a fire. There were exactly 2 towels in the room one of which was dirty. After watching the towel recycling process, I was very suspicious one of the 2 beds in the room was similarly recycled given the makeup stains on the back of the pillow and how wrinkled the sheets were compared to the 2nd bed in the room.
Oh the extra towels I asked for at the pool? We got them delivered to our room... at 1030! Someone came banging on the door multiple times until we woke up and got out of bed thinking there was an emergency or something only to be greeted with towels.....
We booked 2 nights and tried to leave the first night but given our extremely late arrival time and young kids, decided venturing out in a new city that late at night with littles was slightly worse (although we seriously debated how much worse staying there was). We did not stay the 2nd night.
This place has great potential but needs serious attention and better housekeeping. If you are considering this place either pay a little more to stay someplace you'll actually enjoy or stay a little further outside the city and drive in. This hotel is in a shady area that isn't within walking distance to...
Read moreAs I write this. Me and my 2 sons ages 24 and 12 are sitting in the parking lot of this hotel. Because we have been literally kicked out and unknowingly had the police called in on us. We haven't heard anything or had any problems on our end so this has really hit different. They called us we'll after check out time and said for us to pack up and bring our things to the front so our room could be cleaned and re-booked. I asked would we be switching rooms for the rest of our stay since we had already been here for 2weeks and maybe it's time for a deep cleaning. She sounded confused an said she would need to call her boss and could I give her a few minutes to find out more information. I then spoke with front desk they didn't no what was going on. The boss was texting the lady telling her to kick us out. Our reservation was getting canceled. She even explained she didn't no why. That's just what he texted. Then the boss wouldn't answer any more. Because she was unsure what was happening she told me to go back to my room and once he came in I could speak to him. He came in and I saw him a few times not knowing who he was. But I didn't no what to do. Me an my family packed up everything already just waiting for direction. Once the house keeper got in touch with him on her cell she put him on speaker. And told him to speak to me. He didn't want to and got angry at her. He was yelling saying I need to go because I hadn't paid. I said yes sir we have. I have my receipts. Then He yells to tell me we can't be here longer than 3weeks. When our 3week mark hadn't even came up. We checked in Feb 24th. He kicked us out on March 15th. Out 3week mark isn't until March17th. We are looking to move in our apartment March 19th that's why we extended the time to begin with. He had no reason of why to be honest and refused to speak with me. He walked pass me an house keeper and got mad when she tried to stop him to speak with me. We have been homeless that's why we where staying here to begin with they call the police on us and said we are now transpassing. No money returned that we can try to go somewhere else. I can't even get help to get a jump on my car battery to leave cause I'm now Not suppose to be on their property. Where do we go. What am I suppose to do. I have a young child. And its been storming all day and it's cold. And we are stuck. I would like to pursue this in CivilCourt. What my sons witnessed today was...
Read moreI took a chance on this place despite the mixed reviews for the sake of proximity to my destination and saving money.. it was not good. I’m not a person with crazy high standards for lodging. I just want a clean, safe space, and this place was not clean and didn’t I didn’t feel the most safe. If I had not arrived late and night and leaving early the next morning I 100% would have at least tried to get a refund and gone elsewhere. I wish I had taken the time to get some pics to share.
Only gave two stars because all of the staff seemed very nice and helpful and the rate was very good. Check in was easy and the PM and AM front desk workers were nice and helpful. Same with the bartender and restaurant wait staff.
But the first thing I noticed when walking in was the immediate musty smell (should have known then but I was tired and just wanted to pass out.) It just got stronger on the way to the room and lingered on all of the bedding. The bedding itself looked clean, at least.. the pool is in a central open area surrounded by a carpeted lounge area and carpeted hallways, so I wonder if chlorine smell plays a part?
Some level of outdatedness is to be expected at any budget hotel but this place looks extremely old and run down.
There were a lot of hairs on the bathroom floor and in the tub like it had not been cleaned well at all. I had also booked an accessible room so the shower had a shower chair.. this was a fold up kind attached to the wall and when I took a closer look I noticed black grime (mold???) all around the hinges of the seat. The bottom/back portion was covered in this. I ended up skipping a bath because I did not want to sit near that. There were also dust and cobwebs in every corner and crevice of the room.. the AC was missing part of its cover and you could see the screen portion absolutely covered in dust.
Safety wise I’d say it’s probably safe. I just got weird vibes. It didn’t seem to be in the best area and several of the floodlights in the parking lot were out. I was also put in a connecting room without requesting one.. it locked as it should but still made me feel a little nervous.
One more side note: breakfast is so pricey and the dining area also looked very worn down and outdated. I believe the breakfast plates were about $14 and just included the basics like eggs, sausage, and potatoes. I did not try myself...
