Tropical Inn is a gorgeous little motel 10 minutes from clearwater and the strip hosting the rest of the beautiful beaches here (st. pete is about a 20 minute drive with heavy traffic and Dunedin is 10 minutes). Plenty of places to eat in walking distance and a coin laundry right next door. A dollar store and grocery store are across the street to the right for forgotten items or to stock your fridge. There is a library next door and the back side is nestled in a little neighborhood great for taking your kids for a walk or bike ride around the block. There is a golf course across the street in this western direction, and a nice 70 acre park (Pinellas, I believe) a 5 minute drive away that does miniature train rides, and had a great Christmas light display. The owner is very friendly and will check on you intermittently and had great communication with us beforehand when we were running (very) late. Even when the building became close to full occupancy, it was still a nice, quiet and unassuming environment for everyone here. The courtyard was as adorable as it looks in the pictures with a decent pool that you unlock manually, so your kids can’t just run in, and is a great place to have a beer at night after the kids go to bed or to do some reading in the morning. We were pleasantly surprised with the lack of crowding we experienced during the holiday season on this side of the bridge, but it still is a busy little town, so make sure your little ones are in your line of sight, because it is next to a constantly moving road on the east side. The only thing that we didn’t have here that you might be expecting is a coffee pot (but we usually bring our own coffee anyway and picked up a cheap one across the street). We felt very safe here and had no issues. Overall, I would say give this place a chance. You will get everything you’re looking for minus the beach at your back door (but you could still easily access the bike path that crosses the causeway that will take you straight to the beach and is separated from the road so you can do it safely with kids (an hour walk total)). It makes up for that with such a great little area and a MUCH better price to be honest. We stayed for almost 2 weeks and didn’t break 1000.00 for room rate for two adults and two kids. We would definitely visit here...

This place was remodeled as you can tell, so the room was pretty decent but doesn't match the exterior. Looked a little sketchy but it did its job. Beware, you need $100 CASH deposit when booking which caught me off guard as I don't carry cash as a safety precaution. I was told to go to an ATM. I booked through booking.com so it was not very apparent this was needed in their information. We went back and forth and I showed him. He eventually found it on the booking but I still don't know how. It's literally not apparent. I took some stars away because of this and my first interaction. I came from out of town from another hotel so I had time between check out and check in so I decided I'd just go to the beach first, since it was a holiday, the beach was packed. I found an amazing spot. I knew eventually I would need to leave and check in. I was trying decide how long would I stay. So I called and asked what was the latest they took check in and I was haggled about that. Was even told They could give my room to someone else as they had no vacancy- all because I asked how late could I check in. I didn't want to be charged or else I would have told them to just give my room away but I didn't think about making my deal. We settled on 9pm. I eventually got there sooner than agreed which was good. The hotel room itself had an issue which the grounds keeper told me about but it was a bit ghetto. I had to take a lamp in the bathroom to shower. I won't fault them. Things happen. I think it was a fuse because a nearby outlet didn't work either. It's hard to get repair people over the holiday. All in all, it did what needed to be done. I just needed a place to sleep for the night so I wasn't looking for amenities and did not take any. The bed was comfortable, the water was hot and the pressure was pretty good. There was a pool which looked nice. I was just mainly put off by the lack of compassion about the checking in process, getting great parking at the beach on a holiday was a chance of luck and also the $100 deposit CASH. As a woman I don't feel comfortable carrying cash which was inconvenient. I think they should revise their cash deposit and just take debit or an additional $100 on the credit card and then return it. I'm not sure why they wouldn't could be fees...

In this review you will not get lies. I will be truthful about our short stay. My husband and I booked this room in this area due to us having to be in a wedding on the beach. Did not want to pay sky rocket prices on a hotel and this place had all we wanted in a suite. A perfect quick getaway to relax and wine down. I was very skeptical by the reviews. Alot of negativity was written and was getting nervous as we were getting closer. Our experience was not NEGATIVE, it most certainly was POSITIVE!!! The check in process was quick no problem. The gentleman who checked us in was polite & friendly. Didint make us feel funny in any way. Very welcoming. Although we didint have enough time to enjoy the pool or sit on the property courtyard it was beautifully set up. You could see the Owner takes pride and has worked very hard to make his property welcoming and inviting. Felt comfortable & safe. As for the $100 cash deposit people have stated that they were unaware of. We did not experience that. It was a simple look up reservation. Charge and on our way. My husband and I stood in the Couples 💑 👫 suite. The room was very clean, spacious and modern. You can tell as I stated before the owner takes pride. Jacuzzi was great 👍 👌 fridge clean, microwave no problems. Shower bathroom clean & Spacious. Loved the lighted mirrior in room. TV cable worked great. Bed & Pillows were clean and very comfortable. Me and my husband were very pleased. We didint know how this place had bad reviews. This was truly a hidden gem. 15 min from beach. Was well worth the money spent. Whenever we make it down to Clearwater we now have a spot to call ours. We live 2 hrs away and Clearwater is my favorite beach ⛱️ We will be back. Now as far as other rooms I can only speak for myself and our suite. We had no issue with our room & our stay. Hence why this review is a full breakdown. Thier is Construction being done still. That's beyond the owners control. Thier still easy access on to his property & the construction is not affecting Tropical Inn. I hope for future guest this review helps you better ease your mind. Thank you for taking time to read my review. Look forward to coming back. Checkout went...

This motel needs to be banned, seriously. The worst experience for my family. FIRST OF ALL, it’s a disgusting place, LOOK AT THE PICTURES. Let the pictures speak for themselves and do not book here. I made a reservation online for my father in law. I just gave birth at Morton plant hospital, so my husband took my father in law and our two little ones to the motel around 6, mind you I just gave birth hours before…. So I forgot to put my 3 and 1 year old on reservation but I figured they can take care of it when they got there. NO ONE WAS SNEAKING CHILDREN IN…. I called the motel 4 times. No answer, finally got a call back. I explained that I forgot to put two kids on reservation but it’s just my father in law staying with them. The motel manager , clearly has terrible communication skills and is very unfriendly tells me my husband needs to be on reservation, I explained to the manager probably three times. MY HUSBAND IS NOT STAYING WITH OUR CAR THERE. My husband returned to the hospital and my father in law stayed with two kids at hotel. The manager insisted for my husband to pay parking fee. Absolutely ridiculous and at this point by the manager’s communication and lies and his scammer behavior, I was honestly scared for my children to stay here. The manager tells me he doesn’t allow children in the room because of a sink being held up by a piece of wood (see picture) my response was IT IS NOT SAFE FOR CHILDREN OR ADULTS. My husband did not stay , he left at 9 pm and returned at 7 am next day!!!!!!!! Do not book here, this man is a scammer, see other reviews, this motel is disturbing and disgusting. I have phone calls recorded, pictures and everything to prove. I will be pursing further action about this and reporting the filth and unsafe hazards all around the motel. I am glad I recorded the phone calls. See pictures for all the unsafe and dangerous features. DISGUSTING clearly rooms are not cleaned!!!!

This was my first time staying here. I stayed by myself for three days. As soon I walked in, I had a great first impression. It was clean, dry, and bug free. The AC did not have a horrible odor either, like a lot of them do at other hotels/motels. I was very impressed with the vanity at the sink and the whole shower itself was very nice. I wasn’t expecting this type of shower in my room and absolutely loved it. The room felt up-kept and the quality of everything in the room was very nice. There was nothing to really complain about. Everything that matters checked out with flying colors. I’d have to nitpick otherwise. The little gnat-like bugs, not sure what they’re called, there were a group of them in the sink when I first got in but quickly got rid of them. I saw a couple more after that within my time there. I saw a small spider on the desk once, as well. Didn’t see any other bugs besides those. A hotel room being dry and smelling clean really goes a long way for me, and this room really felt clean and had no excess dampness trapped inside, even after showering. It’s well ventilated. This is a first time review. I’d like to assume all the other rooms are the same, but can only speak from my experience. The manager, or owner, whoever, was nice and easy to work with, and helped me out quickly with something I called him about after checking-in. I did not use their pool, although it seemed fine from what I saw. I would definitely like to stay here again.

Place is severely overpriced for what it is. It is a slightly nicer version of a Motel 6. They charge $150 a night for a place that is maybe worth $50 per night. I get it that it is a touristic place and hotels on the beach cost 400 dollars a night, but at that price point you should be able to offer something more. Instead there was a dead dried-up roach on display in our room, housekeeping was not done when I asked "because of Covid" which is totally BS in a State like Florida where everything has been open for a year. I travel in Blue States under lockdowns in the past year and housekeeping was performed! When I asked for fresh towels I was also told I had to pay $3 per towel, which is total craziness. No trash was collected and we accumulated it in our room over the course of 2 days. Totally lazy and cheap. No trashcans or ashtrays anywhere on public grounds, no vending machines, no coffee machine in the room for the price of a suite in Vegas! A towel was on the pool deck for 2 days and the backyard was full of trash, as no bins were provided. Better off sleeping in your car. RIP OFF.
