Preface this review by stating, I have never stayed in a roadside motel. It was sort of a bucket list item lol. I went into this with high hopes but my husband prepared me for the worst. This was one of those times I can say, I was right (if we were keeping score lol.) Let's start with the biggest thing..the room was spotless! Probably go as far as saying, flawless. The bed wasn't exactly to our liking but we have a memory foam so that's not unusual for a hotel bed. Just a little too soft, for us. But we were so tired from a day of hiking, we probably could've slept on concrete. The single room is small and quaint. Tongue and groove walls throughout. Half carpet, half hardwood floors. Some may argue the wood walls would date it. I think it added to the absolute charm of the place. The woman in the office was friendly and helpful. Offering suggestions for restaurants and providing a map for a covered bridge driving tour. This motel is on a main highway so we expected road noise but heard none! However, you can hear ever little thing your neighbors are doing and saying. Not am issue for us, we were tired. But I could see it being an issue for some. If we come back through the area, we will for sure stay here again. Zero...
Read moreJust back from a very enjoyable mini-vacation to the "covered bridge capital of the world" Parke County Indiana. As we cruze the back roads in pursuit of curiosities like covered bridges, grist mills, springs etc we always look for GOOD door parking family owned motels and the Covered Bridge Motel is a very good one indeed.||While this motel was built many years ago it is well maintained, very clean and comfortable with very nice towels and minimal road noise.||Good location at the edge of town on Hwy 41.||Now if your are expecting a luxury hotel, this is NOT the place for you, but if you want a good quiet nights sleep and door parking like car and motorcycle folks do, then the Covered Bridge Motel will be a great choice.||No breakfast or coffee, but that is fine with us as we prefer a good heaty breakfast to begin the day while traveling and Benjamin's is an outstanding family restaurant (breakfast, lunch & dinner) not far away.||||Enjoy the search for the many covered bridges that dot the area.||||Cya down the road.... ... .. .O o- Carl H....
Read moreThe room was clean. They don't allow pets and that is the best thing. It is very close to the town and restaurants. The only downside for us is the shower instead of a bathtub. but we knew this in the beginning. We loved the kitchen area and the fact they even had T.V trays in the closet. There is a full size refrigerator and microwave. We never noticed any traffic noise from the road in front of the motel. The owner was very nice when we asked for a room facing the road. The only thing that we noticed was the window unit ( air conditioner ) was loud until it reached the temperature you have it set on. We had no problem because it didn't last that long. The towels are in a sage green color and just beautiful. This is a great change from the white that most motels and hotels use. They were soft and I just loved the color. They were so nice to bring us some towels just when we needed them. I call this service. I would suggest you give this motel a try. We stayed from Sunday to Friday and enjoyed every minute we spent...
