This place has no business renting out rooms yet. It is still being renovated. There was no way to securely lock the door (which was obviously needing/going to be replaced) which was peeling paint. The sign in the lobby asked for "patience" when dealing with all the potential critters (bugs and rodents) that we might find. I suppose that explains why the room smelled strongly of pesticides (NOT cleaning chemicals). The smell was so bad that we had to leave the door open for quite a while even though it was very cold outside. The toilet seat was broken. The place was an active construction zone and very ugly to look at. Additionally, we were told that it was in Coalinga but it's actually about 10 miles from the town proper, which caused us to go 20 miles out of our way. They never told us it would say Travelodge on the sign and we drove around in circles for a bit before we realized that it was actually the Baymont Wyndham we had reserved. It didn't even look like it was open for business and it definitely shouldn't be. There were feral cats howling for most of the night. We had staying at the Baymont in Tehachapi 2 nights prior and that was fine. This one was far from fine. If it wasn't so late, we would have left and found somewhere else to stay. My request for a refund fell on deaf ears. Except to say that even the person working the front desk agreed that they shouldn't be open for business! We had every right to request a refund and it would have gone a long way since I told them outr stay in Tahacapi was fine - this place was not even on the same planet. We will never stay at a Wyndham owned hotel/motel chain ever again as a result. I realize that's a lot of places to stay away from . Travelodge, LaQuinta, Super 8, Days Inn, Howard Johnson, Ramada, Microtel, Wingate, Ameriinn, Hawthorn Extended Stay, Vacasa, and a bunch of Vegas places. They're so big that they couldn't afford to rightfully (along with apology) refund us one night stay....
Read moreI'm on the road almost full time & have learned to always read reviews before even considering making plans for an overnight stay. It was the beginning of Labor Day weekend. EVERYTHING in the area was ridiculously overpriced & anything within reason was not just gross, but downright scary. So glad I asked to see a room before driving further because this property exceeded my expectations! Sweet Jeanette kindly offered to let me see two rooms: one freshly remodeled facing the interior of the property & the other situated facing the parking lot, enabling me to park right in front of my door, which I much prefer, but hadn't been remodeled yet & was sadly dated & not just worn but worn out. Talk about "before & after!" I happily paid for the updated & remodeled room which was spotlessly clean w/laminate flooring, huge tiled shower, fridge/micro, desk area, & free wifi w/ample signal to check weather & routing for the rest of my trip. The door needed to be repainted but otherwise the room was fine. The bed was super comfortable & the pillows so amazing that I tried to find out what kind they were so I could buy a couple! I'm so sorry I've misplaced the name of the gal @ ck out because she was just as friendly & helpful as Jeanette had been the night before. Continental was scant w/packaged items but for an outstanding breakfast/lunch/dinner I'd recommend Harris Ranch. Bear in mind the property is in a transitional phase & remodeling is in progress. Pool wasn't functional & it was your basic budget-type motel, lacking in upscale amenities. But if all you require is a clean place to shower & sleep without breaking the bank, do yourself a favor & check it out! I'm...
Read moreAfter traveling 13 hours from Oregon to Southern California and having 4 more hours of driving to do, my boyfriend and I decided that we should stop and get a room for the night. I saw a sign that said they had rooms for $42.00 so we pulled in walked into the office we were told oh no sorry we don't have any more of those rooms left. So we took another room, after inspecting the room we noticed that the bedspread had not washed and had seamen stains, my boyfriend walked up and asked for new blankets,he was told they didn't have any extra blankets but offered to move us. We moved into the new room that had 2 beds, again both beds were disgusting and the wall was covered in boogers. That was the last straw. We went back into the office and asked for our money back and the girl at the counter didn't even ask us what was wrong. I will never stay at a travelogde again. It was obvious that they do not care about standards. Tweezers everywhere, it was obvious that they don't drug test. They should...
