We stayed at the Lodge as a stop over before heading to Atlanta. We were greeted warmly at the front desk and shown to our room. The room is beautiful, clean, well decorated and the bed is comfortable, a delightful blend of rustic and modern. The bathroom is elegant with an amazing view of the lake and mountains. Each room has its own air conditioner and with the heatwave, it’s wonderful to have a cool room! We had a waterfront facing room and sitting out on the little patio looking at the view is so relaxing. A bottle of wine is available in the room to purchase which is a lovely touch. We ate at the restaurant and not only was the service outstanding, so was the food! The chef sent out a little tasty morsel for us to try out. We ordered the bread - warm and fresh! My steak was done to perfection and the orange crème brûlée was delicious. We walked down to the deck and the view of the mountains and lake reminded me of Italy. Just breathtaking. The hurricane has certainly left some damage, but the beauty remains and we are told the lake should be functional in 2026. There is so much to love about the Lodge, everything is so well taken care of and so well thought out for the comfort of guests. So many great spots to sit and enjoy the view. There is such a feeling of tranquility sitting at the lake as the sun goes down and a cool breeze comes in after a hot, humid day. As we sat there, I couldn’t help feeling that we were incredibly fortunate to have such beauty just a few hours away from home. Something to take note of : we were told that the walls are not soundproof and quiet time is from 9pm - which I was really happy about and was looking forward to a peaceful, quiet night ….of course I assumed everyone would respect the policy given that it’s an adult friendly hotel. Well at 11:03pm the room next to us still had their TV on. Thankfully a white noise machine is thoughtfully provided in the room and I made use of it trying to drown out the noise from the tv - this was a small blimp and by no means spoiled the experience. I highly recommend visiting and enjoying warm hospitality and outstanding views. The service we received from everyone was friendly and eager to make sure we were comfortable and had what we needed. We will definitely be back (despite the thin walls 😉). At 11:24 pm silence had arrived, sound machine turned off and it was time to slip into a deep sleep. Thankful that we got to stay at The Lodge on Lake Lure. Looking forward to returning ….soon!
An addendum : The ‘charming couple’ next door had their tv going again at 5:30am. I felt less than happy! A late night I can handle but to be rudely awakened at 5:30am by a loud tv? The positive I guess was that we got our coffee and went to sit by the lake and enjoy it before anyone else came down and we were able to get on the road to Atlanta earlier than we planned . It all worked out just fine. We will definitely stay at the...
Read moreTo my kids, Mandy,Sam,Jeff As your Mom, I am writing to say I do not & never will understand why or how you could erase your dad & I from your life as easily as you did? ALL 3 of you at the same time and our grandchildren too!! You offered no explanation even though I pleaded with you to please let us sit down & work “it” out. Have a discussion because I told you we missed our family. YOUR response was no response. For a long while I believed it was me, not anymore. I firmly believe you are to emotionally immature to handle your dad’s dementia & can’t express it. So simple to fix! Mandy, Sam, Jeff… you have robbed us of being a mom, Dad, Nana & Papa and you don’t care. Your dad is in severe dementia & Parkinson’s & you haven’t taken a minute to see if we are dead or alive !? We/I will never understand that! Forever, I have ALWAYS said, your family will ALWAYS be there for you!! But, you aren’t available for US, your parents! We gave you life, love, protected, cared, supported you your whole life. You got what most kids will never have and to be cut off from you & our grandkids is hard to understand. What is the REAL REASON FOR THE DISCONNECT? We deserve to know! What have we done?!? I think it’s more about YOU than us. It has broken our hearts. You KNOW your dad has dementia & there is no cure. It’s. Terminal. Are you afraid to educate yourself? Do you not care?!?Is that what family LOVE & SUPPORT looks like?!? No birthday cards, no mom/dad cards… nothing! We will never know you or why you have...
Read moreMy friend and I rented two rooms at the lodge a few days ago. We were disappointed at the value for what we paid. Our total tab was around $850. Dinner was good, dinner service was good except when my friend asked for another side of potatoes they were not able to accommodate his request and the dinner reservations were not busy. The rooms were great. Everything else was just not worth it. The grounds need some attention it looks like they never prepared for season no cushions on the outdoor chairs no flowers or fire pits or color. Absolutely zero ambiance on such a beautiful lake. There was no access to the lake and they told us this via email after we already reserved the room. They also Informed us there is no breakfast included any longer. I asked the front desk for a tooth brush thinking a $300 room could at least furnish this, nope. When the front desk checked us in they mentioned coffee and muffins could be delivered in the morning, this never happened. The coffee and breakfast was horrible actually a joke again for the price they are asking for like frozen potatoes deep fried to the point of a cardboard texture. To top it all off I get a call after I checked out that I left my sunglasses and if I would call with a credit card that they would send to me. At this point I dont even want the glasses back I would not spend another dime on this property. With no amenities you would think they would step up service or...
