If I could give a negative review I would. Lake Lure sure is beautiful. My family and I were out for a day of swimming and kayaking. We found a lovely place to kayak near our home, however, there was no swimming there. So we left to find a place where we would be able to do both activities.
My husband and I have heard numerous reviews about Lake Lure, and have been wanting to visit, for probably over a year now. We were so excited we finally had a reason to go - swimming, and kayaking.
I called Lake Lure Adventure Company because out of all the places I had found to contact around Lake Lure, they seemed to be the place that could give me the information I wanted. They did, AND DIDN'T.
We were a mile from my home when I called and spoke to a gentleman who after I asked if there were any places where I could put in my kayak, and where my children could swim. He told me about a boat ramp near The Beach, where there was great access to the water. It's near the ABC Store on Memorial St.
When we arrived, finally close to an hour later, excited to swim and kayak some more on this 86* day, The Beach was closed, and there was a sign stating I needed a permit.
Where I'm from, there is such thing as a state park, where I can pay a fee to get in, and enjoy my whole day with my children and husband.
This would have been less painful if it wasn't so far a drive out, and back, for nothing. This would also be less painful if it wasn't my husband's last day off for at least two weeks.
The second reason this needs to be a -5 out of -10 review, is the second time I called I spoke to a woman who basically screamed into the phone. I asked if there were any public places around Lake Lure where my children could swim with their father, and I could put my kayak in. She stated there WERE ZERO public places where we could do both of those activities anywhere around Lake Lure . . . UNLESS, I wanted to rent 6 kayaks, one for each of us, and put-in at their pier.
I will be calling in a few weeks to speak to the manager, after this has settled in my mind a bit.
I will not be visiting Lake Lure again. First impressions with me are everything.
Lake Lure is spectacularly beautiful, but the word that it is CLOSED until Memorial Day each year, to kayaks, and swimmers, (UNLESS YOU WANT TO RENT "THEIR" KAYAKS) needs...

Our family's adventure with Lake Lure Adventure Company was nothing short of spectacular. As part of an epic birthday road trip for my twin girls, Payton and Maren, we decided to rent a pontoon boat for their 14th birthday. The experience was truly unforgettable.
The company provided us with a 22-foot boat that was not only in excellent condition but also extremely easy to navigate. The boat allowed us to explore all sections of Lake Lure, as outlined in the comprehensive map they provided. Their suggestions were spot-on, leading us to some of the most breathtaking vistas we've ever seen.
However, the highlight of the day for my girls was the semi-secluded coves we discovered. We anchored our boat in these tranquil spots, where we swam and played games, surrounded by the serene beauty of nature. These moments of joy and laughter were the perfect birthday gift for my girls, making our adventure on Lake Lure a memory we will cherish forever.
The staff at Lake Lure Adventure Company were professional, friendly, and extremely helpful, ensuring our boating experience was safe and enjoyable. Their service was impeccable, and their equipment was top-notch.
In conclusion, I highly recommend Lake Lure Adventure Company to anyone looking for a unique and memorable experience. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion like we were or simply looking for a fun day out on the water, this company will exceed your expectations. We can't wait to return for our...
Read moreAmazing experience as usual. Cant say enough about this place. This was our 3rd year in a row coming to lake lure, and our 3rd year using these guys for our wakeboarding/tubing and boat rentals. The staff is absolutely amazing, super knowledgeable, super nice, and excellent for teaching beginners to wakeboard, and more importantly great with children. On top of all that, i had noticed, one of the days of this past trip i had arrived here for a 2nd day of wakeboarding and noticed a nail in my tire and was losing air pressure. My rental had no spare. I thought i was screwed as there is no where to get a tire repaired In the middle of a mountain or anywhere close by atleast. Didnt know what to do or where to go. I had asked the young lady working the counter if there was anywhere i can go, the owner heard me, walked over and said bring your car over ill plug it for you. Like really ? Lol I couldnt believe it. Literally saved me hours maybe more who knows. It Turned a bad day back to a good day real quick. I usually dont write reviews but these guys deserve it. See you...
