My stay at Holiday Inn Crossville was not a pleasant stay at all. Since I tend to visit that area for business purposes, this has been the hotel I have stayed in before. After my first night, I had to be moved to a different room on a different floor after I reported seeing a brownish looking bug crawling across the nightstand and the next day I woke up itching all over. From what I saw after googling the “brownish looking creature” appeared to have been bug bed. I also looked at tips to use after I read those creatures are called “hitch hikers” which means, they like to go home with you.
Upon my return home, I followed what learned by not bringing anything into the house, purchased bed bug spray, sprayed my luggage with the spray, stored the luggage in a garbage bag and sat out in the sun, placed all of my clothing into garbage bags until I went to a laundry mat to wash and dry my clothes. At night, I had to take an antihistamine and covered my legs and arms with aloe vera gel to relieve the itching while trying to sleep. This was so inconvenient for me but I was sooo thankful to be home in my own bed.
The next day I called the hotel to inform the General Manger of my concerns and experience during my stay. Only to discover, she appeared to not be of any concern at all. Basically she said “there was not one bug found in the room you stayed in.” I explained to her, I was not itching at all until I stayed at that hotel and I regret not capturing the bug to show the front desk staff.
This review is to not report any negative comments but to report what I experienced and how I felt after speaking with the General Manager. I must say, the evening staff member was very accommodating and friendly. I appreciate everything she did for me while I was there. ( I apologize I cannot remember her name.) But when the GM does not attempt to accommodate the guest then the guest has to decide whether or not there will be a returned visit...
Read moreIve stayed at QUITE A FEW IHG hotels over the last couple years. I have come to expect a certain standard like up to date, decent size tv’s; an eathernet outlet for hardwire internet connection, a TV that has functional HDMI inputs, etc. This location had none of thise things. The TV was outdated and VERY small for the space. Besides that, it was clean and everything did work, just not as well as it should.
The other issue I had with this location was when I trued to check in. I had actually stayed the 2 nights prior, and my plans changed causing me to stay another night. The first time i checked in, everything was great. I had no hassle, and the desk staff was accomadating. The 2nd time i check in, however, my experience was very different. When I went to present my payment card, there was an issue with the name on the card. It is a company card, and therefore it doesnt have my name on it. This has NEVER been an issue before, but this time it was. The desk clerk was unwilling to accept the card, and would only give me robotic and VERY scripted responses as to why. Eventually, we brought the GM over (which the desk clerk huffed at by rhe way) and he allowed me to use the card only after I called my boss and had him tell the staff it was ok. While I understand the intent behind this locations policy, its erroneous. I could have just called a random person in my contact list and the staff would be none the wiser. It inly creats a hassle and a...
Read moreWe are IHG members and stayed here for 2 nights using points. We were surprised to find such limited breakfast selections, and compared to the other IHG we stayed in, in TN, felt it sorely lacking. The fitness center and pool were both closed due to the pandemic, but we found the IHG less than 2 hours away had an open pool and fitness center; with restrictions of course. We ate in our room due to social distancing requirements, and awoke the next morning to ants all over the waste basket; understandable under the circumstances, but we felt this should have been anticipated long before now, and been sprayed by a pest company. We immediately reported it to the front desk and requested additional points be added to our account. Part of the requested points were credited, the rest nothing as of yet. On a positive note, the staff was very nice; Emily was bubbly and helpful in the evening, and Joe was very personable as well. My wife did have to make a trip to the front desk to request a sealed hand lotion, as the bottle in the room had been opened and used - not a positive start. We both slept like babies on the signature bedding, found the bathroom to be clean and hot water plentiful. We anticipate several more trips to Crossville in the coming few months, and while we understand the need for caution, we may need to rethink our choice of...
