Here's a photo of the nice carpet outside my room, since I have spent a great deal of time sitting outside on the floor since checking in earlier today. Mobile check-in and key worked fine at first. Then about the third time I tried to get in, the mobile key was inoperative. I had to call downstairs and wait around until they sent someone up with a key. Glitches happen, I get it, no big deal. But then about two hours later, I stepped out to get some ice and when I returned the deadbolt had shut behind me (literally ... HOW does that happen??) I had not taken my phone with me so I had to go downstairs to the front desk, in my pajamas and bare feet, totally not embarrassing or anything, to plead for help. The employee working at the desk, who had assisted me with my inoperative mobile key earlier, came up and did her best to jimmy the door open. She was so nice and tried everything in the world she could think of. But nothing worked. She went back downstairs then returned saying she had called someone and it would be about 1/2 hour. So .. I just sat in the hallway. Other guests walked by and there I am, sitting on the floor with my ice bucket looking all stupid. Finally someone showed up with a variety of implements to try to get the door open. He said, if this doesn't work I'll just have to bust the door down. Luckily it did not come to that - using his utensils he was able to get the door open. Of course now I am afraid of what will happen tomorrow and wondering if I should find a way to open the window in case I need to rappel in from the roof. This is a pretty new facility and seems to have quite a few bugs to work out. I'm here for business and will be fairly busy the next few days. I was hoping for a restful place to stay. So far it's anything but.

Had a bachelorette weekend getaway for my niece and 11 other ladies and we had an amazing time. The hotel is located near any and everything. To include restaurants, coffee shops, shopping, fast food, major highways, the airport. Everything is between 5 and 15 minutes away. The rooms were very spacious and nice. Smelled fresh. Could use some updating on the furniture but nothing that was broken down or ugly on the eyes. The staff was absolutely the best. There were friendly and very accommodating to our request. Special thank you to Latrice and Blessed. Forgot to take pictures before I decorated, but you still can see that the room is large and spacious. We had a queen room 2 beds, sofa bed, kitchen (stove, no oven, some rooms do have oven). The pool area has a bbq grill, they have a small conference room available for use (reserve in advance). Hot breakfast several options available (waffles, sausage, eggs, bagels, toast, cereal, fruit, oatmeal w/toppings, boiled eggs, yogurt, milk coffee, tea, juice, water and more).

Stayed for the week (Sun - Fri). Every time I walked in I was greeted by an individual in the best of moods. I’m certain it all has to do with Miss Blessed. Even though she’s doing three things at the same time, she’d still greet you and smile. All others were as pleasant throughout my stay. Location is far enough outside downtown where traffic isn’t terrible in the AM or PM to get out and about. If you do need to go downtown, it’s only 15 min away. There’s a BWW and Olive Garden within walking distance. The hotel is on a ridge which makes for awesome sunrises and sunsets to sit outside and enjoy. Gym has plenty of cardio equipment and a rack of free weights. Large enough for multiple people to get it in. Towels provided. Could use a pull-up bar/cable machine but you can make it work. Room was serviced without having to request it! Staying there again!

I spent two months in this Residence Inn while water damage was repaired at my home. Recently widowed, the move was emotionally difficult as well as physically. The cats and I were put into this Residence Inn by my insurance company, and they could not have made a better choice.||||The staff makes this hotel. Blessed Jefferson and her front desk staff - Laretha, Laneysa, and Maddison, are everything. From the moment I walked in, I was surrounded by a warmth that made me feel right at home. Any request I made during my time here was met promptly. The engineering staff responded quickly and politely when my kitten got stuck behind a drawer (!). Although I did most of my own cleaning because I didn't want the cats escaping, the housekeeping staff was unfailingly polite and supplied any needs immediately. ||||My room was attractive, large, and with a full kitchen. Beware the kitchen. You cannot really cook in it because the fire alarms are sensitive, but it is more than adequate for microwaved meals, eggs, etc. There is plenty of storage space if the stay is a long one. I had a view of a green hill that was covered by bull thistles, hemlock, and vitex trees. It was lovely. As I sat and worked at the desk, I could watch the rabbit family raise their babies, watch the buzzards fly their lazy way riding the thermals, and listen to the mockingbirds. ||||The pool is pretty and I don't understand the reviews that say it's small. It's fine and very inviting.||||I liked the breakfast, especially the make-your-own waffles. There was a good variety of food, that changed daily, and the breakfast staff was friendly and responsive. I appreciated the company at breakfast, too, and the view of the pool from the breakfast room.||||I have a couple small complaints. For a long-term stay, the living room furniture is back-breaking. The bed, thank goodness, is very comfortable! The other complaint is the paucity of hot water. Much water is wasted waiting for the shower to heat up, and I rarely had enough for a hot shower. Several times there was no hot water at all! The bathroom faucet runs cold and has a weak stream, about the size of a pencil at full pressure. ||||During my stay, I often found myself thinking that I could live there. I am grateful to the staff for their kindness, and for the way they went "above and beyond" so many times taking care of me. Thank you Blessed, Maddie, Laneysa, and Laretha. You are...

I feel like a lot of the reviews for this hotel are misleadingly good or bad. So I'll share my impressions in the hopes that anyone who chooses to stay here is making the best choice.

GOOD: This is a newer property, and it's in pretty good shape. The rooms are tasteful and well-laid out. The pool is pleasant - not gross like at so many other hotels at this price point. I was also particularly pleased with the staff, who were all extremely friendly and helpful. The location might not be useful for everyone, but at least it's convenient to get to from the Tom Landry Freeway. Decent size parking lot.

MEH: One of the problems with staying here is absolutely no fault of the hotel: This neighborhood sucks. The two restaurants adjacent to the hotel are both pretty terrible, and there is nothing else within walking distance. The Olive Garden is OK if you have children or elderly parents, but is otherwise not a very fun place to go. And the Buffalo Wild Wings was absolutely disgusting -- the garbage smell in there was so horrible I had to leave before even sitting down. There is a Starbucks, and I appreciate that. But that's absolutely it.

I was charged for parking on my bill at checkout and the staff corrected it. I don't think anyone was trying to cheat me. What I think happened here is that no one ever stays at this hotel without a car. And I can certainly see why.

I also thought the breakfast they offer at this hotel is pretty lackluster. All four days I was there was the same: the usual wet eggs, sad chicken sausage discs, Jimmy Dean microwave sandwiches, oatmeal, and a little bit of fruit. Not horrible, but could be a lot better.

BAD: The real shame of this hotel is that they are built directly over one of the loudest highways in America, but their building has absolutely no modern soundproofing. You will hear the Tom Landry Freeway in your room 24x7. I was able to somewhat sleep through it. But you can't really enjoy the pool or any other common spaces at the hotel without being bombarded by the noise. I've stayed at other hotels by highways, including a Hilton property along this same highway, and they all had various degrees of soundproofing. This hotel was clearly built on the cheap, and I doubt there's anything that can be...
