the newest restaurant in marblehead. I was excited to try it out. first off, it's not direct waterfront, but has views of lake erie from across the street. according to employees, they plan on building a bar/patio across the street as an "add-on' to the restaurant/hotel. I don't see how this will work logistically, since it is indeed across a major road. I can only imagine a pedestrian crosswalk would be the only option.
we initially sat outside. the seating is limited. some of the tables they offer are extremely awkward for a dining experience (very low seats, a low table, not a setup very suitable for dinner, maybe drinks and handheld apps). we moved inside shortly after though, because two parties brought very misbehaved children that were running all over the place, making the experience miserable. moving inside was better (not screaming children). cocktails were extremely expensive and the fill the glass full of ice and about 4-5 sips of a drink that runs you between $14-$20. the drink WAS tasty, but not worth the price. the presentation was the focal point, still not worth the money. dinner took forever. the menu doesn't offer many choices and majority are traditional dishes they try to put a unique and more opulent twist on, however, reading the menu and having dined at many fine restaurants, this place was trying too hard to be trendy.
we did not stay in the hotel, but did visit the pool, which was absolutely nothing impressive and was not heated. I guess if you enjoy throwing away money and find trendy places exciting, the wave 🌊 is for you! for anyone else, this should be a pass for other restaurants in the area. maybe you won't get a hotel built-in, or it won't have water views (only from outside though) but spending over $180 on 2 people (no appetizer, 3 drinks, 2 entrees [salmon, a burger] no dessert) I find this outrageous, because I wasn't even satisfied. I've had MUCH better food for half the price. the wave has a lot to work on if it intends to stay in business in this area.
maybe stop here for a cocktail (a few sips....), sit outside and hopefully no screaming kids will ruin your experience, then save some money and go somewhere else for dinner and end up with a happier...

The restaurant is beautiful with great views and the food is good, if a bit pricey, but that's to be expected at a nicer restaurant in a touristy spot. The backyard recreation area is really nice and cozy. The pool is pretty, if small. Everything in the room was nice and new, and clean. Cons: There was a wedding there at the same time and seemed to have taken over the entire hotel and backyard area. The staff was running around trying to accommodate them and didn't have much time or energy for anyone else. Loud people partying in the back until pretty late. Rude people, whatever. The check-in process is chaotic nonsense. There is no separation between the (very busy!!) restaurant and check-in area and no proper front desk, just a big table, half of which is the hostess stand for the restaurant. Check in was a girl with a macbook who was nice enough but pretty dismissive. We were supposed to get a text with important information including the code to unlock our room, which we didn't get. She said yeah that happens because people don't have service here and told us to take a photo of her computer screen?? The door lock code did not work and it took at least 30 minutes and 4 different codes to finally get into our room. I asked if we could add my phone number as well as my husband's in case I needed to contact them, they said no, only one number can be added. There are no phones in the rooms and no front desk to call, you can message them but if you don't have service you can't, obviously. Room was nice and clean but missing basic amenities like lightbulbs and toilet paper. Shower drain was very slow. TV barely worked and could only get basic cable. No microwave, the tiny fridge was fine for drinks but not cold enough for food. Overall, this place has some nice things about it but is way way too expensive for the way it's being run. Hopefully they will work things out and maybe rethink the way things are being done because it's totally...
Read moreWas invited to the restaurant’s soft opening, I am friends with the Priest of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church right across the street and he and I both went to try it out and get a tour of the rooms.
First off, the atmosphere and decor of the restaurant gives off a grand vacation feel! You almost forget that you are in Ohio! The furniture is modern yet functional and comfortable, the outdoor patio with the fire pit is gorgeous, and the full cocktail bar will definitely make for some awesome nights.
For an appetizer, I ordered the Kettle Chips and the Sour Cream & Onion Dip, which was outstanding, my friend ordered the tortilla chips with guac and their spicy queso dip, which I got to try and was great too! (I am personally not much of a guac guy, so I didn’t try it personally, but my friend absolutely loved it! — I had some of the spicy queso dip and it was excellent!)
My friend ordered the chicken tenders, which you can tell were fresh and homemade and it came with a side of the kettle chips.
I ordered the grass fed burger and i added my usual bacon and egg to my burger and it is probably the best burger I have ever had! The egg and bacon were cooked perfectly to my order, and the relish that came with it gave it so much flavor!! I want to reread the menu to see what all came on the burger because it was truly outstanding!!!
Definitely by far the best dining experience I have had anywhere at Marblehead. Looking forward to going back...
