From the moment I made the reservation until check out, my experience with the staff was phenomenal. My stay in the Honeybee Suite was for Mother’s Day as a gift to myself and for a family member’s birthday celebration. Upon arrive Brian welcomed Lucy, our little dog, and me with a big smile and Hello. I had spoken with Brian the day before about what I had planned and that I would be arriving with Lucy and arms full of birthday cake and overnight bags. He immediately got a luggage cart and helped me get everything to the rooftop suite. He also gave Lucy a honey bee decorated bag with dog bone snacks. Sunday afternoon brought Jordan to the front desk with her sunny smile and well wishes for an enjoyable evening as we headed out to Ballad Brewing to for local microbrews and darts. Upon check out this morning, Brian was there to greet us and we were able to meet Madison, the General Manager. She has done a wonderful job training the staff and overseeing the operation of this exquisite boutique hotel in downtown Danville. I love properties like this. The owners have taken an old iconic building and turned it into a stunning property. Their attention to detail with design and decor is greatly appreciated. You have to wonder around the property to find all the unique features that they have preserved, such as old staircases in alcoves. The lobby areas are spacious and inviting. You can find the honeycomb shape of beehives in so many of the fixtures - tile, decorative boxes, coat hooks, the outside signage. The Honeybee Suite is breathtaking and provides an at home feeling upon entering. The floor to ceiling doors in the living room open out onto the rooftop area. The views are incredible and you can see a number of murals on neighboring buildings. The open floor plan, including the living room and full kitchen with its spacious island, was perfect for our small family birthday gathering. The half bath in this area is nice to keep the master bath private for the overnight guests. The Bee Kind soap products, black makeup towel and shower handle on the opposite side of the rain shower head were small pleasures as well. The combination of textures and colors in fixtures and furniture looked and felt as if everything is exactly as it should be in a balanced, natural setting. I enjoyed the use of local art and photographs throughout the suite and property. There is a beautiful public park tucked between the buildings, complete with water feature and lots of little sitting and gathering areas with brick arches and columns. My stay was far too short, but it invigorated my soul and gave me exactly what I needed to feel like a Queen...
Read moreSo I stayed here due to having no power because of the ice storm. First we go in at 4pm, which was check in time, to get our room and it was not ready. It was not ready till around 6pm. The room was nice, small but nice. Around 11pm is when all the fun started. I went down stairs to grab food from door dash and there was a huge party happening with people just coming and going as they like, in and out of the hotel entrance. I look to see where the security was, or at least a front desk employee. Then I see a sign in lobby stating that the front door is locked at 8pm and if you need to reach someone call this number listed below. So you are telling me there is no one monitoring this hotel overnight and all your guest know it. Wow, great job to whoever is over operations and created this total catastrophe. So now you have guest or guest of guest holding the door open right in the hotel lobby letting people in to party in a hotel with no staff. Needless to say people were partying all night long and we did not get to sleep till after 4am. People were running down the halls, hitting our door, pretty sure someone was messing with the door knobs and hit ours a couple of times and they were slamming doors all night long. When we woke up the next morning, after about 5 hours asleep I asked to speak with a manager. We told the manager that they do not need to have guests in this hotel in the downtown Danville area without security, that you are asking for something bad to happen. Her response was it was a safe area, which it is not, and that if we felt unsafe that we should have called the cops. Are you serious! If you are coming from out of town, especially if you have kids do not stay at this hotel it is only a matter of time before something really bad happens. It's a shame, I thought this was a great idea and would boost the downtown area and it's image, but they completely missed the mark. You get a smaller room, no amenities, no staff after 8pm, and no security; yet the price of the room is double the price of other hotels in Danville. Do...
Read moreMy husband and I decided to stay at The Bee Hotel for the first time, and it exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, we were greeted warmly by the staff.
Our stay at The Bee Hotel was nothing short of enchanting, as we discovered its hidden treasures one by one. Nestled within this historic gem, we found not only comfort and exceptional service but also unexpected delights that made our experience truly unforgettable.
One such surprise was the observation deck on the third floor. While there may not have been much to see in terms of panoramic views, the deck offered a tranquil outdoor space adorned with a cozy firepit. It provided the perfect retreat for those seeking a moment of quiet reflection or a chance to bask in the crisp evening air.
Inside, the historic charm of the hotel enveloped us, transporting us to a bygone era of elegance and sophistication. Our spacious room, adorned with tasteful decor, provided a welcome sanctuary after a day of exploration.
Artie's, at the reception desk, recommendations for local dining options proved to be spot-on, leading us to a culinary adventure that delighted our taste buds and left us craving more.
Of course, no stay is without its minor inconveniences, and we did notice the occasional noise from slamming doors and footsteps echoing through the hallways. However, these small disturbances were easily overshadowed by the overall charm and hospitality of The Bee Hotel.
In conclusion, our time at The Bee Hotel was a delightful blend of history, comfort, and tranquility. It truly exceeded our expectations. We eagerly anticipate our next visit, eager to once again immerse ourselves in the timeless allure of...
