NEVER really wanted to stay here but it was closest to where I needed to do business for the week…it was the best of the worst of my choices for that area. I was totally proved right in my thinking this place would be awful. Manager H. Singh knows you have no choice for the area and won’t resolve anything because he doesn’t have to…they’re independently owned. His “hotel” and his “customer service” makes this company look very bad:
I asked for a quiet room. The AC was so loud that after 2 hours of trying to sleep and getting woke up every 20-30 minutes of the unit kicking on and off (plus keeping the whole room cold but humid and moist (only when running)) and listening to the crickets scream (yes they’re in the rooms but I think under the carpet as I could never see them) I finally asked for a room with a better AC and less crickets was told, “they’re all like that.” I then had to drive 45 minutes to find a store that was open for earplugs. Finally got back, put in the earplugs, AC is still too loud!!! Ended up sleeping on the bathroom floor (with only a few extra pillows for cushioning since they “didn’t have many” to spare). Received bites from something on the floor…(fleas!?)…got about 2 hours of sleep for my 16-hour business day. Hotel manager couldn’t have cared less and refused to refund me, saying I should have just left…at 0230 in the morning…during a storm…to stay where…? He also claims that they tried to provide me another room which is completely false. Their staff said, “sorry, all the rooms are like that.” Never offered me another room. Also, the manager claims I waited too long to complain…we’ll being awake doing work with music on versus trying to sleep in silence are two differed scenarios, hence, why I didn’t complain until AFTER attempting sleep for a few hours. He also claims my expectations are “lofty” but sleeping in a quiet room without bugs is just such high expectations to him, I guess… NEVER BEST WESTERN EVER AGAIN. This place totally makes Best Western’s reputation of a seedy hotel stay firmly in place. What a way to represent, Dayton Best Western. And Manger Singh fits the description of piss-poor manager who only wants to take your money. I’m a permanent Air...
Read moreWell its pretty average place....a little dated on the out side rooms, but what wins it a 4 stars vs 3 is the staff Yohaira, Candora and Johnny, the 3 best people I have ever met, they are the face of best western, there's 2 other women who work there, but expect out sider treatment...the one wouldn't even give me quarters so I could use THERE washer and dryer....really. But later in the day Yohaira (I'm sure I'm not spelling that right) made it right. The other 2 girls act like entitled brats to every one and if the 3 I mentioned didn't make the breakfasts....then I would skip eating, cold things that should be hot and warm milk ....yum yum.... But when Yohaira, Candora or Johnny made breakfasts...omg it was like eating at a nice place, not fast food. One of the rude girls one morning said she did all the prep work...I was hungry so I ate... Burnt biscuits and still cold sausages .... Got me sick.... So only eat when the top 3 cook. Another item that really pissed me off is how the owners treated there staff in front of other guest...not just me....really? If you feel the need to degrade a worker who makes you money can't you do it behind closed doors? But other then what I listed the rooms them selfs where not bad but I stayed inside, they have a hotel and motel all in one property. The inside was quiet, and no bugs. The out side the "construction workers" who where staying there smoked pot and where loud. I advise getting a room close to the lobby for a quiet nights sleep. Water pressure is really good and the water stays hot a very long time. The out side pool is small but nice if u have children. The place next store is not too bad, considering your about an hour east of Houston, and its a very small walk away. Over all, I would stay there again, They don't do weekly or monthly rates, but considering your other options in town....its pretty nice place. Also I would say the maids do a pretty good job too, the room I had was clean and no bed...
Read moreBooked a double queen handicap accessible room. Confirmed first time while making reservation. Hotel called me a week prior to visit to confirm what I requested which was that they have bars near the toilet. They said they did but only had bath tub and asked if that was okay, I said yes. Got into town early spoke to the receptionist and confirmed again we were staying in a room with bars on side of toilet. We checked in at 11:30 pm, to find out they did not have any bars near the toilet. Thank goodness the receptions was very kind and helped find us a different room. She said there are no queen handicap accessible rooms only rooms with one king. It worked we were able to use that restroom. Only to realize their door opens outward into the room. But hall way isn’t big enough to pass a wheelchair through! We had to open the room door to get my mom into the bathroom. Definitely poor design. Now to get a handicap person onto a tall King size bed. The people who design handicap accessible hotel rooms must not know one person who is actually handicap. It was very difficult for my mom and I to enjoy this hotel. We managed and we made it work. But would not recommend this to other handicap people. Place was very clean and again receptions was...
