Catalina Beach Club — Hotel in Daytona Beach

I stayed in a two bedroom unit, and love the balcony over looking the beach and the roomy feeling of the unit. I also observed the pool water being checked by an outside company, so felt confident in the cleanliness of the pool. The beach access was convenient and location more private than other resorts. However, this was the first time in all my visits here that I felt it was a little dated: the dishwasher was pathetic (wheels constantly fell off, top shelf broke, failed to adequately clean dishes), one of two elevators broke for 50+ units and 6 floors (elevators were not air conditioned and often had to wait), no security guard (sketchy situation observed one evening after 8:30p), pool closes at 8:30pm, and key cards stopped working on Friday evening (despite check out not being until the next day and when most people were loading vehicles...big...

Stayed here through RCI exchange and was very pleasantly surprised because I didn't expect much. However, this little place is a gem!

Rooms: Much larger and more updated that I expected. The 1 BR has 2 bathrooms! Plenty of space!

Location: There wasn't much across the street but it's a walk to a gas station or Breakfast place. Winn Dixie and Dollar General are both a short drive right down the road. Landshark and a Tiki Bar are a walk north on the beach abs a great food truck is an even shorter walk south.

Amenities: There's a large game room which the kids enjoyed. The pool is heated and there's a kiddie pool, no hot tub. Dvds are available to check out and there are donuts in the morning on Sat and Sun. There are also two grills for use as well.

This is a great family place and may not be the fanciest spot on the beach, but it was...

The one bedroom unit at this resort if huge with two bathrooms, a very large living room with airbed pull out couch and a small balcony overlooking the ocean. The building itself is very very old and somewhat rundown. The steps from the pool area were washed away in a hurricane so one has to exit the front of the building, walk down the sidewalk, and then walk down a walkway to the beach. Quite a trek just to get to the beach. There is pretty much no landscaping to speak of. The staff were all very nice and friendly. The room was clean, except for the floor which was filthy. Did not appear to have been mopped. Towel exchange only twice during the week so had to really conserve towels. Would stay here again just because the room was so large and...
