We stayed here 3 nights (20-23 May 2025 ) in Room #426. We treated our son and his family from north Georgia, and they stayed in Room #419. This review is focusing mainly on our room with a few notations. The room was a 2 room suite with bedroom and living room plus bathroom, of course. Upon entry was the bedroom with a king-sized bed, end tables, a small dresser with TV on top, plus a closet with a safe. The living room area had a sofa and coffee table with a small dining area and a kitchen with full size fridge, microwave, and more. Our view was of the Atlantic Ocean and the nearby beach. Outside and below was a firepit area where people smoked even though there were signs stating that smoking area was elsewhere? The room was very comfortable for the most part. The bathroom was just inside the door closest to the living area. There was a separate toilet area, a large sink, and a huge shower. The issues with the bathroom were 1) barely lukewarm water the whole time (Note: | Room #419 had scalding water!) and 2) a loose 2 roll toilet paper holder that was like a seesaw (whichever had larger roll went down?). We survived these issues, but it would have been nice to have at least a lukewarm shower. Another issue was the remote control. I assumed, incorrectly, that the sensor was in the lower edging of TV next to furniture, but NO, the sensors for both TVâs are on cords that look like thumb buzzers used on a game show. I thought the batteries were low and did receive new batteries when I went to complain. I realized afterwards when it was just as bad that there were cords, and in one case (the living room), it was hanging behind the furniture? Once I pointed them both forward away from the TV (towards the bed or sofa), the remotes worked perfectly. Other issue, but not the hotelâs fault, was loud, screaming kid in next room. The kid sounded challenged, but we heard spanks and other noise. The door between the living area and the bedroom had a sweep on the bottom to keep noise out so we closed that a night, but the connecting door on the living room side didnât have anything to keep the noise out plus you could see light under the door at times. The hotel needs to better insulate connecting doors.|As an IHG Diamond member, I receive complimentary breakfast for 2 (can take points or drinks instead) so we had breakfast each of the 3 mornings: 1st day with Adrian and Shannon the other 2 days when Adrian was off. Both were friendly, but Adrian was much more attentive and focused. Shannon was better on the last day. I included breakfast for the other room on the 2 paid days (used Chase free night on 1st night) so they ate the 2 days with Shannon. The 2 young grandkids received free breakfast off the kiddie menu. With my status I was able to have any menu item, but the prepaid breakfast option only included the right column "Hotel Favorites" and not "Specialties"? On one day, we left a tip on the other room for Shannon for $6, actually $5.99 to make total $6, but $6.51 was processed. She told them afterwards, when we had left, that the original one wasnât signed and did something at the register? I requested a 1 cent bill so we could add a tip to room. I had given the one for my complimentary meal to the other lady who was the bartender, and she processed it correctly! We left a cash tip for the other room the last day! (Note: each room received a welcome card with 2 drinks-beer or wine; we used cards for both rooms plus one given to me by someone checking out thus we got 3 beer (me) and 3 wine (other half) on separate visits). All good with friendly bartenders and patrons.|For my breakfast, Day 1 I had the sausage gravy breakfast, Day 2 I had a western skillet, and Day 3 I had an omelet (with unmelted Swiss cheese and minimal bacon crumbles). I would not have the skillet again, but the other 2 were satisfactory, and I didnât say anything about omelet issues. My coupon said "one main menu item with unlimited non-alcoholic beverages or full buffet" (n/a here) so I thought I could also add extra items to my omelet, etc. but was promptly told by Shannon that I could only have 1 entrĂŠe and nothing extra unless stated on menu. I prefer a buffet/omelet station so I can have a better variety and note that many Holiday Inn locations are transitioning away from menu to buffet (i.e. Valdosta). Overall, it was a good way to start the day and worth the price (free)!|I contacted Justin at the front desk in advance, and he upgraded us nicely. He also put us on the same floor but not nearby as requested, although I would have preferred our family members next door rather than the loud, screaming child the 1st 2 nights and days! Everyone was friendly at the front desk. I apologize for the remote control issue, but housekeeping needs to make sure sensors are in correct position. Hotel was mostly quiet (except for next door). The kids enjoyed the activity room and the kidâs swimming area. Access to the beach was easy, but watch out for cars on beach. Parking was good except the 3 Diamond parking spaces were always occupied. I often wonder if they are really Diamond members or possibly employees since enforcement is by âhonesty policyâ? We preferred to park in the covered garage area since it was hot and sunny, but spaces could be tight; the hotel wasnât full so parking was easily managed with no car damage. I am not a big fan of the $33.75 in fees ($30 resort fee plus taxes), especially for those with highest status and for free/reward nights, but thatâs becoming the norm, unfortunately. Prices were reasonable even with the fees given that there were no big events in town while we were there. We would return here for similar reasons, but we are not big beach people (prefer the west coast of Florida anyway). Overall, I am giving a 3.5...
Read moreThe place needs some cleaning and updating for sure! Elevators are super hot and super SLOW. Our room wasn't the cleanest we stayed on 7th floor. I used clorox wipes to clean when we arrived in our room. The wipes were very dirty considering we had just arrived. Had visible dirt in corners..bathroom floor was very dirty..room feels humid n sticky. Everything felt dusty our ac was dirty I wiped up visible black clumps on it. Would recommend not staying on 1st floor my mother in law did and was kept up late from kids running around screaming in halls and in the arcade that's next door. If you get a pool view on weekend don't have Lil kids because live music plays till like 9pm and its very loud in room. The doors are heavy and about push you over the rail so steady yourself when leaving the front door. Our balcony door was so hard to open. The drains in bathrooms need to be cleaned better there was build up of hair visible in bathroom sink causing water to not drain properly. Shower curtains need to be replaced. Look dirty feel dirty and barely hangin on. Not a fan of your closet being in the kitchen. Have to ask for utensils and plates n pans which they bring up in huge plastic bin that looks filthy and you have to store. ALSO breakfast is NOT FREE have to purchase..which I paid for 2 breakfast when booked to be included which is $15 ..you get a card for each day you purchase and have to present a server. YOU HAVE TO SIT THERE AND EAT through a server and you CANNOT pick what you want. It's eggs potatoes meat and bread and choice if either coffee water or juice ..since eating there and through a server you also have to tip bc it clearly states on card GRATUITY NOT INCLUDED. We didn't even use bc of that and when I tried to return all cards to show I didn't use any of them they would not refund me for any of them even when I stated wasn't Informed had to also tip to get my prepaid breakfast and wasn't able to choose what we wanted nor where I eat it. Did see several big roaches on 4th floor outside doors when visiting another room. I did like the fact they had a kid area that's gated in with a splash pad like area however it's full of sand and wasn't attempted to even be cleaned over course of our stay and one of the fountain heads wirh cover was broke and loose where kids were takin off making it safety Hazzard. The pool furniture has seen better days..never had pool towels clean and available they provide with only 2 in ur room when we had 5 ppl which also has sign informing you if not back in your room you are charged. Pool had lot of sand in it also, not once over course did anyone clean that either. Make sure you have room card to get in n out if gate to beach. Firepit was nice..kids enjoyed corn hole boards they have out also with big chess and connect 4 games by pool. On 2nd to last day we found out in the kids room next to arcade n gym you can go sign out beach toys and boogie boards board games and movies for free just have to return and sign in before check-out. On certain days they pass out water guns at pool ..Popsicles..and have bingo with prizes. The gym equipment is limited and most out of order..the arcade has claw machine air hockey and w diff driving games and 1 alien shooting game..yet some were out of order and the shooting game took our money. The front staff were civil nit the friendliest..there is drinks sodas water and energy drinks available for purchase also some beach toys and other misc in lobby. Energy drinks are 5$ each sodas in vending machines located by ice machines on each floor is $2.75. The trash by elevators seemed to be where ppl were dumping room trash causing bad smell and bugs. They did come in our room each day to change bedding did notice some stains on linen..carpet feels gross recommend wearing shoes everywhere you walk in room. If you don't want them in your room while you are out use your door hanger. There is safe located in closet in kitchen area. Fridge doesn't get very cold and had rust and dirty all over Hoping they update and clean up so we can come...
Read moreI'm writing this review a few days after our stay to keep an emotional component out of it. Let me tell you what a stay is like in this hotel:
You arrive there at around 11.35 pm at night. (Our actual accommodation fell through, so we ended up there.) Booked two rooms for two nights. Got the first night at a discounted rate (arriving very late). The second night was USD 269.00 per room without tax. +Resort Fee +Resort Fee tax, etc...
The person checking us in was very friendly and quick with setting up our key cards and getting everything ready. She also let us know that there's staff there 24/7 if anything comes up. Didn't know I would need that at that time...
We get told to drive up one level to park our car there. With me driving, my father gets out of the car to find a spot. He finds a maintenance worker that tells him to wait a little while until we can park in a spot where he wants us to park. Doesn't give us an ETA or anything. With us being tired, I find myself a spot. He comes running up to us. Tells me how dangerous Daytona Beach is and that there's criminals there that would do nasty things to me. That he wants to protect me and my family from them. He wants to put our car in a spot, where he can put a CCTV camera on it to make sure that nothing happens to it. (I was driving a rental with full coverage. I didn't give a crap about that car.) After accepting that he now wanted to sort out parking for us, I let him do his thing. (Keep in mind: it's around 11.50 pm now)
After informing me about the dangers of Daytona Beach, the maintenance guy doesn't see to clearing a parking spot for us. Instead, he starts hitting on my mother. Asked her if my father (who was with us) was treating her right, etc. He's lucky me and my family are from Germany and my father didn't hear his approaches towards my mother.
We go to our rooms. (Reminder: Room rates+Resort fees+taxes for two nights came out to around USD600.00 per room) My room had a connecting door, the lock on it was broken. If the guests next door had decided to check on that, they would have been in my room without issue. The furniture in the room is falling apart. (drawers not closing properly, color peeling off, etc.) Both beds were dirty. Especially the bed closer to the door. (rented a double queen room) I guess, most guests use the bed further away from the door and the other bed gets cleaned rarely if at all. On the balcony, the railing and A/C had rust on them. (There's other reviews with pictures, if you want to look at those.) The worst in the room were the unwanted roommates. I killed 3 roaches while in the first room. Upon seeing the 4th, I called the front desk in the early morning. They told me they would find me a different room. The maintenance guy would be at my door shortly to bring me key cards for another room. I was also told: they wouldn't charge me with the resort fee for my troubles. (Got to save around USD100.00, yay...)
The maintenance guy told me he checked out the new room before he came by to give me the key cards to make sure everything was "perfect". He must have checked on the wrong room...
The new room didn't have a connecting door. The same issues with furniture, beds and balcony being old, rusty, rundown, and at the end of its lifespan remained. Also, (the maintenance guy told me about the dangers of Daytona Beach, remember?) this room didn't have a working deadbolt. The door set crooked in the door frame which led to the bolt not actually locking the door. The first room did have a door catch. In the second room, you could only see the screw holes in the door frame where there was a door catch once.
The room my parents got, luckily didn't bring them into contact with unwanted roommates. But they still had the same issues with rundown furnishings as described.
We have seen 3 different rooms, all rundown and messy. Take your money somewhere else. There's a lot of great options on the Oceanfront. This isn't...
