Courtyard by Marriott Decatur — Hotel in Decatur

After spending 9 hours on the road, I arrived and stood at the check in counter for a full minute before the young lady looked up from her phone to see me standing before her. She stood, did not greet me, but asked with an attitude and a look of disdain on her face, "Can I help you?" Even though the hotel was quite empty, as there were 6 cars in the parking lot after 10pm when I arrived, I did not receive a room upgrade even though it is protocol for elite status members when rooms are available. When I got to my room, the heater made a terrible noise when it came on. I was so tired it wasn't worth the effort to complain to someone who obviously didn't care to do her job in the first place. The next morning I went to the front desk and showed the lady there a video of the noise the heater was making and she immediately gave me another room and upgraded us as was fitting. We took our luggage to the new room and left for the day to visit family. When we returned in the evening we learned that only one of the heaters in our room worked, we turned it on and at first it was fine. Several hours later it began to make a very loud noise, so we just turned it off and slept under an extra blanket for the pull out couch. The next morning I reported it again at check out. My name is narondra reed, my family stayed at this property, for 3 days June 10th through the 13th, I must say the hotels standards are ok, during our stay there was lack of communication regarding products available, when I asked for towels there was a delay in bringing towels, I would have to go downstairs to get them myself, also my main complaint is the days I stayed at this property they were very busy, I proceeded to go out to explore the city, the parking lot was very busy I didn’t feel comfortable leaving the lot due to the parking being so tight, also the vehicle I drove was a large truck, I called the front desk to let the staff know, I was placed on hold several times, after 27 minutes, I proceeded to go back into the property, there was an African American lady I expressed this situation too, her remark was oh my god, she left, she clocked out, I asked the young lady her name so I could file a complaint she hesitated and advised me the other lady was a fill in, but she did assist with guiding me out of the right property, I believe the service I received was unacceptable, June 10th stay was 202.00 June 11th stay was 186.00 June 12th stay was 178.00 I believe these prices are close with this being said I want stay at this...

What a wonderful surprise this hotel was! After a really difficult trip, I could not have been more pleased with my decision to stay here!

The whole hotel was clean as could be, and our rooms were almost like new. The carpets of hotels often seem sketchy, but these almost appeared steam cleaned or recently installed. The colors were fresh and crisp, with no stains. There wasn’t any mold or really any dirt anywhere.

The A/C was ice cold, the beds incredibly comfortable (better than the $1000s of dollars condo we stayed at the week before), and best of all it was whisper quiet the entire time. Our room had an enormous TV, and even a balcony! Having a Starbucks inside the hotel - limited though it was - was icing on the cake.

The hotel also has restaurants nearby for whenever you’re hungry, and a wide variety so that even the pickiest eaters will find something.

The only negative was that our room’s sink had a clog, but that was only noticeable when using it for a bit.

If we ever take another trip through Alabama, I am 100% staying here again. For the price I don’t think you could find a place to stay as...
