Pros - the room itself was just what we were expecting :). Someplace cheap and clean to stay the night while we travel. It also has a mini fridge and a microwave.
Cons - When we first got there, the room we entered was heavily fragranced. I have asthma and my throat was starting to swell like it usually does when exposed to too much cigarette smoke. We had reserved a non-smoking room. Likely guess was that the perfume was sprayed to cover the smell of smoke. When we asked if we could switch rooms, the attendant told us that they spray fragrance in all the rooms. We thought we would try it out, but it was hard to be in, so we asked one more time if we could try a different room. They acquiesced and moved us to a different room... Which was much better! Literally no perfume. I was happy to be in a new room, but it felt like we had been lied to about their policy of "spraying" all the rooms.
Also, when we were getting to leave, I noticed a lady fiddling with (what I assumed to be) her truck tires. It looked like she was filling them up with air. When I passed by 5 minutes later, it was pretty evident she was letting air OUT of the tires. I could think of no logical reason why she would do this to her own car, so my dad told the front office what appeared to be happening. They said they would look into it, but when we drove away, the front desk attendant was still cleaning the glass to the door. I can understand her not knowing what to do, as I myself was a little unsure what to do (should I have called the cops?), but as it's something that happened at their business, she should have contacted her manager or owner about what to do.
Breakfast was pretty simple. There was sugared cereal and a waffle maker. It would have been nice to have a few instant packets of oatmeal, some hard boiled eggs, or some apples. All those things seem fairly inexpensive to stock.
We had just stayed at a similarly priced and styled place the night before, so I'm not saying I expected anything grand. We were just a little disappointed by what we...
Read moreSo glad I continued on to Delano. I was traveling north from southern California (10-24-19) and was met with delays due to the wildland fire that had broken out that day. I knew I wouldn't be able to complete my drive and decided to settle in for the night. I attempted to find lodging in Bakersfield but was turned away by 3 hotels due to our Golden RetrieverI. I decided to push on and see if I could find something up the road. I stopped at the Rodeway in Delano and I am glad I did, the Hotel was more than happy to accept my dog and I had no problem paying the extra $10 as it does take a little extra cleaning to remove animal presence from a room. ||||The room was exactly what I needed, I place to grab a warm shower, lay my head for the night and most of all my dog would not have to spend the night in his travel kennel in the SUV (something he has yet to do) because I was too tired to travel any further. ||||The staff was great, the young lady working that night was pleasant, knowledgable and expedited the transaction quickly. the room was spacious, quiet and clean and worth the price paid. ||I would stay again if the opportunity presents itself. Keep up...
Read moreI do a fair amount of traveling and quite frankly I'm a germophobe. I try to stick with a "name brand" hotel if possible but have been disappointed there also. I have been to Delano before and stayed at other hotels that frankly I would have been better to sleep outside in a tent. But I have to admit this Rodeway is a diamond in the rough. My expectations where low but I can honestly say this was a quite a nice stay. The room was clean and so was the bathroom. There were also no funny smells and the maid service was on par with some of the fancier hotels. The bed was also comfortable and afforded a great nights sleep. I don't care much for hotel breakfast so I can't comment, but the staff was quite pleasant. I rated them a four, but compared to some of the other hotels in the area they could get a five. My travels will bring me to Delano again next year and I will be sure to book a room here. Many thanks to the staff at...
