My spouse and I were on a road trip around North Dakota in August 2023 and spent a Saturday night at this Holiday Inn Express in Devils Lake. Overall, the hotel was okay... nothing too special. It was a bit of an older property but served its purpose for our night's stay.||||Our check-in process went okay, and our room (#225) was clean and comfortable (although a bit plain with little in the way of decorations). We had no problems during our stay.||||One thing we appreciated was being able to use the hot tub in the indoor pool area. That was nice. But one downside was that I sort of wanted to use the business center computer, but the key card did not work to get into that room. It wasn't a huge deal, and so I didn't mention anything about it to the front desk... but it would have been nice to know what was going on there. (Was the computer not working? Was it just a fluke with my key card?)||||Breakfast at the hotel didn't look all that exciting (or super appetizing) in the morning, so we just ate breakfast elsewhere. Not a big deal.||||We got a decent night's sleep at this hotel, which was important. If I ever find myself needing a place to stay in Devils Lake, I'd consider staying here again... but overall it's just an average hotel. (If I'd had the ability to give it a rating of 3.5 stars, I probably would...
Read moreWe have stayed here for the past few years for our annual family reunion that is held out in Graham's Island. The room was fine upon our arrival, but if you are expecting anything to be done during the week you will be sadly mistaken. I know some hotels have gone to an every other day cleaning/replenishing schedule although nothing was posted at this hotel about that. We booked our stay for 5 nights. On Day 3, the garbage was emptied and we got a few new towels but that was it. The bed was not made, the shampoo and conditioner as well as hand soap were not replaced. When my husband went down that night, the man at the front desk was very apologetic and gave us some new supplies. On Day 5, they didn't even come into our room. So no garbage taken out, no new towels, no shampoo or conditioner, no hand soap, and no new toilet paper rolls. Again, my husband went down to the front desk and the same man was at the front desk and was very pleasant. I had to laugh because they had a a sign by the tv with a QR code on it to scan to provide a tip. Seriously? A tip for what??? We were very disappointed with the lack of service to the room this trip. We are looking at other options...
Read moreAlways my first choice when I am travelling through the area as I have been the last two years. Other than rooms with no microwave or refrigerator (unusual for this class of hotel), I would 9 times out of 10 give this hotel an "excellent" rating in all areas, especially the breakfast and its server (she is truly a hostess). But this last visit was very disappointing; my room was the last one on 2nd floor, north-east corner. Two queen beds, one of which had a dip in the middle that felt more like a hammock. Thankfully the other one was fine, and as usual, very comfortable. I'm not sure if it was inconsiderate guests, as I never saw anyone in the hall, so more than likely it was the north exit door, but several times throughout the evening a door would slam shut with such force that it would startle you out of your seat. Thankfully it was not an issue after 10:00 pm. Please understand that this description was the exception and not the rule, and I am only providing it as a service to the hotel management in hopes that these things will be attended to. I look forward to my next stay and trust these issues will have been...
