Northend Motel & Suites — Hotel in Doniphan

Not fancy by any means, but clean, safe, cute and the owners are super friendly and accommodating. I love mom and pop places, and I love retro places, and this hit both marks. Definitely a throwback to the early motels. If you don't need all the bells and whistles, give this charmer a try. It's obvious the owners love their motel; from the flowers everywhere, to the benches out front of each room, to the fact they allowed an elderly couple stay there indefinitely after a devastating flood, caring is evident everywhere.|When I called to make a reservation (because you can't do it online...old school, remember...), there wasn't a need to take my credit card to hold the room. It was my word; they just ask you give them 48 hours notice if you need to cancel. The owner called me the day before to make sure I was still coming; I assured her I was. I asked when check in was, she asked what I needed; when I asked about check in for noonish, she said she'd make sure my room was cleaned first in the morning so it would be ready. When I realized I wouldn't be in until much later, I called to make sure she knew and didn't think I bailed. I mean, she was kind enough...I needed to reciprocate! |The room itself was small, the bathroom was very small but sufficient. I loved the 50s yellow tile in the bathroom. The TV wasn't a plasma flat screen, but worked just fine with plenty of channels. The bed was comfy. The AC was a window unit but worked great and wasn't too loud. |If I had a complaint, it would be the people above me sounded like a herd of elephants (heavy walkers!) But that wasn't the fault of anyone other than them.|I would stay here again in a heartbeat, I would always rather support a locally owned and run business than a big chain if I can. And, added bonus....GREAT Mexican restaurant, Mi Casa, within...

The people who run this place are very friendly, down to earth, and very helpful. While checking in a young boy was there. {the owners son I guess} he was very polite and visited with my son while I was busy. I never had a problem with anything while staying here. Got anything asked for...and was never disturbed!! We stayed while moving. Only needed 1 nite {told front desk maybe 2} The motel was booked for a wedding the whole weekend so the room was only avaiable for one nite. Later that day the motel called us and told us there was a cancelation and if we still needed the room it was avaiable....how nice is that!! They have smoking and non-smoking rooms available. I was told they had just repurchased the motel and were currently in the process of re-doing all the rooms. The room I stayed in was a little in need of a few face lift options {the carpet was 2 pieces} But this is not a big deal to me. I can overlook small fixes. THE MAIN THING...... I was not afraid to soak in the bathtub, lay my sleepy head on the pillow, snuggle up in the covers with my 5 year old son and sleep a deep sleep!! I would recommend this place to friends and family!! It is a quiet area...very close to amenities. grocery stores, gas stations, fast food and take out...all within walking distance. P.S. during my stay I discovered...the McDonald's will deliver straight to ur room! If I ever need a place to stay in Doniphan this will...

Very comfortable bed, super clean room and service was just AWESOME! Plans fell through on our weekend get together leaving us in a bit of a scramble to put something together. Contacted the hotel & spoke with Brenda 2 days before and got our room reserved. She was very pleasant to speak with and took very good care of us. We originally planned on being there by 7 or 8 PM but the devil had other plans & we didn't get in until almost 1:00 AM. Brenda told me no worries and accommodated our very late arrival. My family & I got a great nights sleep in a nice clean room. Now do not expect Italian marble floors or gold plated bath fixtures but if you need a good clean room with a cozy comfortable bed at a VERY reasonable price, call Brenda.
