Rocky River Inn — Hotel in Doniphan

Rooms were very basic but clean. No fridge or microwave...so a heads up there. Arrived at 6am on Saturday with no reservation. Knocked on the lobby door and the sweetest lady in the entire state come to the door half asleep still. Informed her we needed to check in then and check out Sunday and asked her how much. She informed of the price, wrote down our days on the receipt, had me sign, told us we should eat at Patsy's, next door, that evening for dinner and and told us to enjoy our stay and our float trip that afternoon. Fast Forward to late that afternoon... a woman came to our room to clean it.. said we were staying and were already paid up. She questioned it... told her what went down that morning.. told her if it was a money issue to let me know...didn't hear back from anyone.. assumed we were good to go. Checkout time rolls around and the housekeeping hounds us to go to the front desk before leaving but never saying for what. We loaded up and went to drive closer to the front desk.. when like 3 people starting motioning and hollering for us not to forget to go to the front desk. Which is where I was going. I was now informed that I owed 50 more dollars for our stay because I was improperly charged the morning before and I needed to pay for the half a day and should have known this. Look.. thing is...I didn't know their rate to know if the 110 dollars was for one night or a day in a half. I was given a price for the service I needed provided. I agreed and didn't question it. Why would I? I then offered the day before to Pay extra if there was a problem. That was opportunity number 2 for them. By check out, I had spent the extra money we had and didn't even have the cash to pay it. So I told her she was gonna have to suck this one up and should have spoken up when I asked. She was moody (not the same lady that checked me In...never seen her again after she checked me in)...and had an attitude.. I apologized for their mistake and left. Every day since, going on a month, they have attempted to charge my card for the 55 dollars. That's absolutely crazy to me. You can't change the deal once it's been made. That's not how things work. Will not be staying here again nor do I recommend it. The restaurant next door...

We traveled toWe traveled to doniphan to see a sick family member who is elderly the first room they tried to offer us there was no way I would have been able to sleep on those beds they look like they were about a hundred years old I put my hand on the bed and you could feel the springs I have chronic pain so we requested another room at five dollars more for room because had been a microwave and a refrigerator no big deal there was mold on the ice buckets a horrible smell in the room it kept me up all night coughing and gagging they say no pets but people had several pets one of the ladies from the office came to try to help get the TV started and believe it or not she wasn't even wearing shoes people were driving up to the office at all hours of the night communicating outside but the biggest deal was when we went to leave they were going to we realize they were going to hold an extra $75 to the room stating that we were smoking in the room and they had proof and we ask for the proof because if you know for a fact that you was not smoking anything in that room then you have no proof you just have a very old motel that stinks very bad this was a family that stayed in that room we didn't even smoke in the car that we drove up there in no we did not smoke in the room that we were in and being accused of such a thing was very insulting cannot get a hold of corporate office for this place I would not recommend staying here I would prefer the North end motel next time and anybody out there looking for a nice place to stay the North end motel is being remodeled and it has been there for a long time but the service is friendly not not acting as if they don't receive enough pay for their jobs and trying to steal money from consumers who are trying to visit doniphan Missouri I give this motel a zero rating...

Disgusting. The first one we got had bed bugs. When I went down to the office the girl said we have never had bed bugs so I showed her the video I had just taken on my phone and she just said well we dont have any other rooms like that which was just a plain 2 queen room. I said well I dont really care I just know I'm not staying in that one. So she have me another room that was non smoking and when I opened the door the smell of stale cigarettes was so strong so I went back down there and told her that it smelled like cigarettes really bad. She said yeah sometimes people sneak and smoke anyway but there is a $250 fine. I said well I'm not paying any of that bc it already smells like people have been smoking in there for years not just occasionally. I checked the beds for bugs and didnt see any in that one but I still couldnt sleep well thinking about them in the last one and it stunk in there so bad. And I thought they were suppose to have sprinklers in motels. There were none at all in case of a fire. Their breakfast there consists of pop tarts and oatmeal. That's pretty much it. Oh and bagels. Would I ever stay here again. Absolutley not. I grew up in this town and I expected nicest but I didnt expect it to be so nasty. If you do have to stay here dont expect much and make sure you check the beds. She never went up to the room to look at anything and I doubt they did anything to the beds. I guarantee you they put other people in there. Never will I stay...
