We visit Amish country at least once a year and have for at least 15 years. This is the first time we have been in Amish country and have not stayed at the Carlisle. There were not many available rooms in the whole area and the lady at the Carlisle recommended this Inn. The price for a night is $160+ with taxes...this is the usual price we pay for our stay per night so it didnt seem unusual. The problem is the rooms are cheaply furnished with cheap "no tell motel" type bedding. For a "newly rennovated in 2018" facility the bedding is probably some of the cheapest most uncomfortable ive ever slept on...the sheets were rough as sugar sacks and the gross blue linty blanket that resides under the thin comforter....the pillows are flat and hard....the room was clean in the front and neatly arranged in the sleeping quarters. The furniture is not the quality Amish furniture you would expect to see in Amish country its all bulk produced press board that youd expect to see in any motel though it does appear to be newer....there is a sink in the back of the bedroom area that is 70s pink and the outlets didnt work at that sink. The bathroom appeared to have not been cleaned...hair on sink, tub and floor toilet also not cleaned i always bring lysol to clean with so i took care of that cleaning myself...bathroom also apparently had not been swept....but clean towels were in place soaps abd shampoos on counter and shower curtain was pulled back and arranged like someone had started the job but not finished. I contacted the front desk and informed them that i had already cleaned the room and i did not want anyone in the room for houskeeping during the day and we left to shop, eat, and explore. When we returned the maid had come in, moved all our stuff and placed all of my items on top of the nasty bedding that i had pulled down and tried to avoud with my belongings....i was very upset because i had specifically asked that the maid not come in...the Inn keeper said she would wash my blankets and such...um no thanks...she also offered a glass of wine....very nice but i really feel that she should have compensated me with a refund of some sort or a bottle of wine...ive never stayed anywhere and asked that my belongings not be touched and had this happen before. Very disappointed...this Inn is on a very beautiful piece of land with lots of potential....but i have to give only 2 stars because if you are going to charge rates like the places that have the most amenities you have to provide those nicer surroundings...i would not mind a higher rate to stay but should have comfortable nice beds and bedding...not motel style and when a customer has a specific request like no houskeeping today please...that should be...
Read moreThe place is beautiful no doubt about that! My friends and I have been there a couple times. First time was around February of 2024 wonderful person at the desk and we met the owner great experience that time! We came back around October and it was a disaster, there was a new person and she was a wreck and was flustered with everyone the owner seemed mad or upset and kinda reflected that with the guest (I know it's hard not to) but when your in that type of industry you just have to. And I'm pretty sure this other women we meet was her daughter and WOW is all we could say! We will probably never be back again. We could over hear her complaining about her boyfriend I would assume? Talking and looking at all the pretty lady's coming into the business.. I mean come on? It's a business? If you can't trust your man than don't have him there! And!!! My friend heard her tell the women at the desk that kept telling everyone she was the manager 🙄 but didn't do a great job at it, that a guest was fat and ugly!! What! If that is how you people 'secretly' talk and think of "your" guest than you will no longer receive our business. I understand that daughter is the wine maker but let's s be real the wine isn't that great. And there is much much friendlier winiers out there! So like I said the place is beautiful and the owner is really a nice women she just had a bad day, but those other two women definitely ruined it for us because that is not how you treat other people in that kind of industry....
Read moreGreat place to stay in Ohio's Amish country. In addition to the Inn, there's a winery (wine available for tasting and purchase) and horse stables (which were not open yet at the end of March). When "the season" starts I'm sure this place will be hopping with activity.
As it was, it was wonderful to have a nice quiet place to be. There are lots of gazebos and porch swings and lawn chairs all around, along with a pond and ducks and just beautiful scenery all around. Horses free-roam on the property, but I did not see them - I guess they weren't feeling it on this cold March day!
My room was good sized. Fridge but no microwave, which was ok. Plenty of electrical outlets and lights, the heater was very quiet and easy to control with the wall thermostat. Tall showerhead, big thick towels and a sink within the bathroom and outside the bathroom, too, which was nice. Comfy bed. Lots of channels on the TV if you're into that, and overall just a great experience.
Oh, almost forgot to mention the absolutely fantastic breakfast the owner cooked up and is served 7:30 to 10 AM. Baked eggs, sausage, mini cinnamon rolls, cheesy hash browns, but also cereal, yogurt, fruit, bread for toasting and great coffee.
The owner Julia was great, friendly and accommodating, and really made me want to...
