After our group was showered and bathed for the evening after swimming, our bathroom in Room 120 was SWARMED with ants between the sink’s wood legs and the toilet. There were NO crumbs or ANYTHING we could see on the floor, so we were confused and disgusted as to why they even suddenly came out at night!? My husband discussed the concern with the girl at the front desk, and she checked the maintenance closet and there was no “ant spray”, but offered to move us rooms (2 of the 6 children were already asleep by this time, so this wasn’t an option)… We (luckily) just all shared the conjoined Room 118’s bathroom through the night and morning, as my husband doused the ant area with soap & water and used our hotel towels to clean the area as much as possible. (What else were we to do?)… This nighttime desk clerk stated she’d called her manager and was waiting on a call back, and she’d call our room if she heard anything. Being up until 2am- we never heard anything… Upon checking out, that next girl at the front desk for her shift, was NOT made aware at ALL of our ant situation & simply apologized and handed me our receipt of still paying in full for both of our 2 rooms we booked. I understand things happen, but with nearby stores all being closed by 11pm, we couldn’t even handle this situation ourselves any differently. Very unprofessional and dirty feeling in our room & just wish something could have been done because this was the 2nd time staying at this exact hotel within a month, just for a fun evening with our kids.
The hot tub in the pool area was NOT warm at all.
While doing our final “sweep” checking we had all our things prior to checking out, there was a stale half of a Dorito looking chip underneath the desk of Room 120… Our group did not bring or have any Doritos, so I used a napkin to pick it up and throw it away as well. Lastly, having stains on the comforters in Room 118 and Room 120 both, was the “cherry on top”…
During my last stay here (on Feb. 10, 2024), I could proudly say the hot tub was nice & warm and our room had ZERO ants or any issues at all (which is why I chose to return here for this stay, close to home).
Unfortunately after this experience, we will go elsewhere in our future and also suggest to any friends or family to not come to this location for their own “weekend getaway” trips. The only main positives, giving my rating of a “2”, were having the conjoined rooms & the various breakfast choices in the morning, as having 5 children (our own 3 kids, plus their extra 2 friends) and 2 adults, those both helped our stay in...
Read moreWe stayed at the Comfort Inn of Dover 03/10/2018. It was the best choice! The hotel is a beautiful facility, inside and out....very well taken care of with an excellent professional and friendly staff from start to finish. The staff obviously takes pride in providing the best hotel possible! It was very much appreciated!
I doubt the facility is very old. The rooms, lobby, and halls/entry areas are all beautiful and well-maintained. The young lady that did our check-in was very friendly and helpful. The hotel housekeeping staff was the same. The room was beautiful, everything was like new, and very clean. Everything in the room was in perfect operating condition. There are multiple entrances to allow parking close to the entrances closest to your room also. The parking lot is very well lighted and in good condition as well. I would recommend this hotel to anyone! It is great! Very reasonably priced too. Provided an excellent breakfast buffet, complete with waffle making capability.
During our stay, the pool and hot tub was closed for maintenance. But the hotel made a call a few days ahead of time to let us know that would be the case. It let us know that the hotel next door to this was extending a courtesy of allowing the Comfort Inn Guests access to their pool area during the stay though! That made my grandson happy, since a pool to a youngster staying is pretty important! So the cooperation of the 2 hotels making the pool accessible was much appreciated on the stay. Yes a bit inconvenient- but we were warned it would be the case ahead of time. So we had absolutely no problem with this situation. We appreciated the neighboring hotel extending the use of their facility like that too.
The wifi is free and excellent, as was the good TV reception also. The room had a fridge, microwave, coffeemaker, hairdryer, ironing board/iron.
Our stay there in Dover was for a Christian concert at the Ohio Star Theater in Sugarcreek. This is a very short distance to drive to the theater from this hotel. Excellent location. Right on Rt 39, and right next to a ramp to I-77. Excellent location! A short jot to the right out of the drive & you're at a McDonald's and ready to explore things there at Dover there. The drive back to the left takes you to the Amish Country area attractions also. This WILL BE our new 1st choice of hotels in this area....
Read moreStayed here last night due to a funeral I attended with my grandmother and infant daughter. Our stay here was fantastic. When we checked in the staff was super helpful and let us know the best place to park to have easy access to our room. Our room was very clean, the bathroom was roomy and well stalked, the beds were very comfortable, the AC/ heating unit worked perfectly, the outlets were located on the lamps so they were easily accessible, the blankets on the bed were real comforters (not the scratchy blankets some hotels have). Apart from all that the staff was fabulous to us. While unpacking there was a knock at the door and the lady from the front desk had walked down a sock my daughter had kicked off in the lobby, which she very well could have just put behind the desk for me to come looking for later. Also during the night, my grandma became very restless and went to walk around at about 4:30 am. The night desk clerk made her some coffee and chatted with her a little bit. In the morning we had breakfast, which was delicious. Waffles, yogurt, toast, eggs, sausage, cereal, juice, coffee, was all available. My grandma doesn't particularly like sausage and asked the attendant if there was bacon, the woman told her that they have bacon every other day. My grandma was fine with this, and made herself a plate, but when she sat down to eat, the woman had made her some bacon and brought it out to her. We really enjoyed our stay here. I intend on staying here in the future as I have family in the area and my husband and I really enjoy going to Amish country only a...
