The Comfort Inn, Denver, PA is an all around winner. You can only go right when you stay here.
This Comfort Inn received "Exceptional" ratings, and this Inn is worthy of that rating, primarily because of the high standard for the amenities (the small things). The Denver, PA Comfort Inn offers 24/7 cold water with lemon; most other Choice Hotel members offer special water 3 - 11 PM. There are plenty of fresh cookies at 3 PM and the coffee pot constantly full. The entrance is clean and inviting. Parking is easy and close to rooms.
The breakfast provided uses the Choice Hotel standard (pre-purchased and pre-preprepared or not organic) eggs, bacon, pastries, etc., BUT the preparation and presentation is exceptional. We ate at different times during the 6 - 9:30 AM time frame and each and every time a large supply of hot eggs and breakfast meats were available. Coffee flowed. The breakfast staff asked regularly if everything was OK and if we had what we needed. Used plates and messes were quickly cleaned up, and the long generous breakfast counter always clean and neat. No other member of the chain achieved such a high, caring standard. In sort, first rate!
Yes, the staff is friendly and helpful. They really care and act as if providing customer service is something they want to do not just talk about.
The modest negatives: this hotel was built in the 1960's and the basic architecture looks it. BUT, the recent renovations are successful so the hotel looks up-to-date, clean, and positive. The most annoying feature is a small amount of electrical outlets in a room. Although, there are lamps with extra outlets, I have so many devices that I needed more outlets. (I hear you: travel with fewer devices.)
The windows are single pane (no thermal) but have heavy curtains so we had no problem with keeping warm or cool as need be. Again, the well-done renovations overcame the outdated windows.
On our first visit we rented an accessible room, which although big lacked sufficient counter space for my dental kit and other toiletries. On our second visit, we rented a standard double queen. I had plenty of counter space.
This Comfort Inn is located at the intersection of I76/PA Tpke and US 222, which means the location is very convenient. Downtown Lancaster is an easy half-hour drive, and entering/exiting the Pike is 3 minutes or less. We found the location great for visiting any destination within a 50...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWas in Ephrata, PA for one week on business. Chose this hotel based on price and the generally positive reviews. Hotel is just north of Ephrata right off Rt. 222. My first night was in a room facing the front of the hotel. There is a convenience store located across the street as well as an entrance to the PA Turnpike at the nearby intersection. Lots of car and truck exhaust noise from the convenience store and exhaust noise from trucks getting on and off the PA Turnpike. Went down early the next morning and the night person on duty was very apologetic offering to move me to a different room before I even asked. Got a new room a few down from mine facing the back of the hotel. A lot more quite than the front. Still a had a little noise from traffic on the PA Turnpike but that did not bother me. My room was clean and up to date, the bed and pillows were very comfortable, bathroom was clean, furniture was in good shape, and everything worked. Great TV, iron and ironing board, good sized fridge with small freezer unit, and smaller sized microwave which was fine for what I needed. Internet was very fast all hours of the day. HVAC worked just fine with no smell. I had a non-smoking room on the 2nd floor of the wing that has no smoking rooms.Common areas were just remodeled. Breakfast area has a small bar open every night. I did not have an opportunity to try it out. Breakfast was standard fair with a good selection of hot and cold items. Same eggs and bacon every morning. Would have been nice if they switched things up. Fresh coffee was not always ready at 5:00AM as the dinning area does not open until 6:30AM. Had some coffee by the front desk but it was cold and tasted like it had been there all night. Front desk staff was great. Did not have to interact with the house keeping staff. Just got clean towels and supplies at front desk. This hotel does have a business center with one computer hooked up to a printer. You can not beat the price for what you get. Will stay here again if I am back...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI liked that there were no elevators since the hotel was only 2 floors. However the fact that there were two separate wings of the building that were not connected on the second floor of the hotel and you could not just pass through to get to the other end of the hotel. If you wanted to get to the opposite end of the hotel from the 2nd floor you have to go downstairs and then walk around the building or go downstairs then back inside to go through the lobby to pass through the first floor hallway to the other end of the hotel. Also the furniture is completely worn out and needs to updated and replaced with new more comfortable furniture and bedding. Finally I find that getting to my hotel to find out that I canāt even hook up my Roku because the front desk doesnāt even have a remote to change the input for me at the very least pretty disturbing and extremely uninviting. Why would possibly want to limit your guests ability to get comfortable at your hotel? Why would you force people who stay at your hotel to watch only what you are able to offer for free? I find this trend beyond overwhelming at times when Iām treated like a small child not even allowed to use any of the other inputs on the tv in my hotel room. Why even buy a tv with multiple input selections just to take away any possible way to use the other inputs? I wouldnāt stay at this hotel again simply because of the fact that the tv is basically parental locked and only lets you change the channels up or down one at a time and adjusts the volume but has no other use and makes watching tv so incredibly frustrating with no real way to even surf the channels at all since the channels change so slow. At any rate I feel like a rating of 5 was still pretty high despite how little you get what you pay for with this hotel. Prices are high at this location and the hotel...
