We were visiting a theater in Lancaster and I wasn't interested in paying the high price for the hotels in town so I found this one that was only a 30 minute drive. The rooms were about $50 than any decent hotels in Lancaster so we decided the savings was worth it over convenience.
The hotel is not really near much of anything so if that's bothersome then I wouldn't stay here. It is also right off a pretty busy highway so road noise was definitely prevalent most hours of the day/night. I would recommend a room on the even # side of the hallway for less road noise. The hotel itself was very quiet during our entire stay.
We were able to use digital check in and room selection which I love. No stopping by the desk and can go straight to the room. The hotel was nice and clean. There were a lot of board games, Foosball, giant Connect four, and other activities available in the lobby. The gym is open 24/7 and the pool is open 8am to 10pm. The pool isn't huge but big enough for a couple of families to have room enough to splash around. The water was pretty cold however so keep that in mind.
We stayed in a King size one bed room. The room itself was pretty basic as you'd expect from Tru brand hotels. No closet or extra seating but there was a small desk and a bench to set luggage on. There was a mini fridge but not microwave. There wasn't a ton of room to move around the bed, but if you are just using the room to sleep and get ready then that's no biggie. The bathroom was pretty big and the shower was really nice. The soaps and shampoos are attached to the walls in squeezy tubes which I preferred.
We only had breakfast at the hotel one morning, but there was a pretty good selection. Bagels and English muffins, scrambled eggs and sausage patties, a few different cereals, and a selection of juices. They also had 2 pancake machines which I've never seen before. You wave your hand in front of the machine and it automatically makes a pancake that you can watch roll through an oven. They were very good and perfectly warm and they offered a variety of toppings as well. Overall a very good breakfast. This hotel is also only about 20 minutes from Shady Maple which has an awesome breakfast buffet 😋
All the staff members we interacted with were very kind and helpful. The housekeeping cleaned the room very well prior to our arrival. It smelled very fresh when we opened the door.

Read moreWe really enjoyed our 4 night stay. First time staying at a Tru by Hilton and it will now be on my list when I'm looking to book hotels. The breakfast was fairly standard continental breakfast but was very good. The shower had hot water and good water pressure, the beds were comfortable, the AC unit did a good job of keeping the room comfortable where we set it. The large 50" TV was definitely appreciated as we're big college football fans and it was the first weekend of the season! We also really appreciated the thought that went in to putting an outlet on the wall between the two bed that is clearly there for the intent of plugging in cell phone chargers. For once we didn't have to move the lamp stand or unplug something in order to do so. The hotel also had a decent pool and gym that was clean and enjoyable. The room was clean, the service by the staff was excellent. Much better than similar quality hotels in the price range.
A few areas for improvement:
Some kind of sound dampening would be nice. We could often hear a room full of kids above us yelling and thumping on to the floor. It was early enough that we were up watching college football anyway, but nevertheless we found ourselves looking up at the ceiling and just saying, "sheesh, calm it down up there." Our room was on the side of the hotel with the Dunkin, so we really didn't have a LOT of the traffic noise mentioned by other reviews, but it's also a hotel right off two major freeways; I expected some traffic noise. What was nice was that the room had a heavier "blackout curtain" that could be lowered right inside the window frame, and then also another good quality curtain that could be closed in front of that. We closed both to sleep and that did a fairly decent job of keeping outside sounds minimized.
The rooms do NOT have a microwave in them, that was missed. There is a small mini fridge with no freezer for those ice packs from the cooler. We had ordered delivery one night and it would've been nice to not have to take the food down to the lobby to use that microwave to heat something up then carry it back upstairs, and ice packs weren't frozen for the cooler for the trip home. Minor inconveniences, no big deal, but these are just possible thoughts for improvements!
Definitely will be back next time I'm...
Read moreLoved this hotel! We stayed Fri-Mon and were very pleased. The hotel was sold out Friday night and Saturday night and the staff handled it very well and were very nice people. Here is a lengthy review of our stay with pictures.
The parking lot surprised us with EV parking! We have a hybrid so a huge hidden bonus for us was the free charging spots.
The lobby is very bright, colorful, and family friendly. There are: couches, phone charging outlets everywhere, games, cool chairs, free coffee all day, and even a little 'shop' with extra amenities and snacks that you can buy. There is also a patio with tables and chairs off the back of the lobby.
The hotel has a salt water pool (which we didn't use), and also a nice size gym. The gym has a couple treadmills, an elliptical, free weights, bench, giant exercise block, and a tv that has workouts.
Breakfast this weekend was a bit chaotic with the hotel being completely booked. So needles to say the complimentary breakfast was mobbed. The staff did the best they could with refilling foods like: eggs, chicken sausage, bagels, muffins, cereals, waffle batter, yogurt, and oatmeal. With a little patience items were refilled in a timely manner. There was plenty for everyone.
Our room had a King size bed. (Picture is after use, forgot to take one sooner). It is very compact but comfortable and functional. There are wall hooks that came in handy, a little desk, a mini fridge (but no mini freezer section), a mini table over it, a bench, and two night tables. The room has outlets everywhere for charging options. Another nice surprise was that the window has a built in back out curtain you can draw to darken room as well as a white polka dolt one for light and privacy. The bathroom was little but perfect in size with the glass stand up shower. Soaps were provided in tubes mounted in the shower and the side of the sink. It reduces plastic waste and was nice to use our desired amounts.
The hotel is super easy access to the turn pike and other highways. We found it perfect for our needs. Everything we wanted to visit was within 35 mins. The people were really nice and we plan on coming back...
