We stayed three months at the PEM from the end of September through Christmas 2019. I would give the park 3.5 stars if I could but not 4 stars. The pros are that this is a lovely, well manicured and well maintained park. Reservations were easy and the staff was friendly and attentive. There is a gated main entrance, but anyone could gain walking entrance by the restaurant. We felt safe and there was a strong security presence, but this resort is in a large urban area so caution is advised. Our site was spacious and a nice pad was provided. Electric is not included for long term visitors, so call ahead and set up with APS. The grounds contain a mix of RVs, motor homes, older and newer park models and on site, stick built newer homes. It seems the management is encouraging home building and there was a lot of construction activity during our visit. The pools are fantastic and it has the nicest hot rub and work out room I have ever seen at an RV park with several elliptical, cycle , treadmill and weight equipments available. Daily activities are many and varied from water volleyball to sewing rooms, billiards, cards, lapidary, shuffleboard, lawn bowling and music groups. The activities team does a great job of bringing talent to the resort and the music and shows were worth the cost. Dances were fun and the meals very good. The big deal here is pickelball and there are many courts and a very active club. Now for the cons. October was stiffiling hot in the high 90s and December cool in the 50s. I guess I expected less temperature variation, so be prepared. The noise from nearby Luke Air Force base is deafening. I registered levels of 85 decibels frequently during the day. Planes fly Monday through Friday 7 am to 10 pm, sometimes every 20 minutes. I would not recommend trying to run a business or have a small child at this location. Several guests reported less noise in the rear lots. We were on the 2 nd Street which may have made it worse. We were very disappointed by the restaurant which was one of the reasons we picked this park. We experienced, in my opinion , poor service, food quality and uninterested management. The golf course was closed for overseeding from September through late October so be advised. The main pool was unusable from November until just before Christmas due to heater failure and an inability to get parts. A small pool was also available but you could not swim lengths in it. Like every RV park, it can be cliquey. We had trouble finding out how to get set up for golf leagues and card groups. Our calls were simply not returned. Be persistent if you want to get on a group. Our nearest neighbors were lovely though. I'm still not sure about returning. Perhaps we will try the January to April season as there appears to be more activity during this time frame. The management should be aware of this increase as overbuilding will quickly swamp the capacity of this resorts amenities. SAFETY CAUTION: This is the Sonoran Desert. We saw many bark scorpions in the evening around our trailer and near the roads. Use caution if outdoors, wear shoes at all times, shake out stored shoes and clothing, watch your pets and consider pest...
Read moreI had stayed here a couple of times before 2020 but the last stay turned out to be a disaster. The resort requires visitors to take parking directions from resort staff when parking a RV. Two years ago Walt K. directed me to continue backing up and he backed me into a telecom pole. Doing more that $11,000 damage to my motor coach. The resort provided me with an incident report that established their fault for the incident. Subsequent documented conversations with Jim M. (operations manager) established their intent to pay for the damage. I decided to file a claim with my insurance just to make certain that the work would be paid, assuming that cost recovery would occur nearly coincident with the repair. For nearly two years Pueblo El Mirage has refused to accept multiple, ongoing contacts by my insurance company. A lawsuit is up and will hopefully motivate Scott Roberts to pay the bill. This organization does not honor their commitments. Stay away from this place.
Final (I hope) update on this incident. From the time Pueblo El Mirage Documented their culpability in doing $11,395.55 damage to my motor coach in their own incident report, it took 883 days (2.4 years) for them to succumb to their own facts and a court case to bring them to heel pay $9,654 to my insurance company. Today I was finally made whole when my $1,000 deductible was returned to me. At one point the offered to pay $500 toward my deductible. I patiently waited for them to pay the entire amount. I beleive the local staff, like the Director of Operations Jim M. is a person of integrity. He kept things advancing through their chain of command but at some point corporate staff saw no value in honoring commitments made through him. They decided to drag their feet until they had no choice to settle or go to trial. Lesson learned, when you in the right don't trust corporations to do the right thing. In retrospect I should have hired an aggressive attorney and sued for diminished value and loss of use...
Read moreWe stayed at Pueblo El Mirage RV Resort for two weeks over Christmas and New Years. The resort is clean and well kept, spaces are level, there is a ton of amenities (pickleball courts galore, tennis courts, lawn bowling, shuffleboard, craft rooms, wood shop, large pool, hot tub, sauna, fitness room, even a golf course), the staff, residents, and other visitors are all friendly and welcoming, there is a small dog park, and many people walk their dogs throughout the park. The resort is gated and the gate is tended, so I would say that the park is pretty secure, residents do leave golf clubs strapped into their golf carts overnight, and people do have easily removed items on their porches and paitos without incident. The majority of the park is comprised of permanent park models and upscale manufactured homes, but all are well maintained and the sites are free of clutter or unsightly items. The RV spots that are scattered throughout the resort are clean and level, have a cement pad for your step, and a permanent table and benches. Besides the resort itself, the park is situated within 15 minutes of some of the professional baseball teams spring training facilities, an assortment of grocery stores, a few different Walmart stores, the Arizona Cardinals stadium, factory outlet stores, Costco, and Sam's club. There are two potential drawbacks to the location - one is that it is fairly close to Luke AFB, so you will hear F-35s flying overhead (I call it, "The sound of freedom") during the daytime. The other potential drawback is that there is some risk of having your vehicle(s) damaged by errant golf balls (remember, there is an active golf course amid the RVs and permanent homes). We enjoyed our stay, and will happily return to...
