I made reservations via the Internet. I arrived in Elk City in the late afternoon and went to the motel. When I opened the lobby's outer door, I noticed that the door frame was bent and was difficult to open.
The concierge at the desk explained to me that there was a water main break, that the motel was without water service, and that it would be “restored in about thirty minutes”. I decided I could handle that as I did not need to use the toilet or the sink until later that evening.
I went to my room but before I opened my door, two couples were entering their room a couple of doors down. They explained to me that when they went into their room earlier, they noted that the beds were not made, and the room had not been serviced by the staff. This was 6:00 in the evening.
I went out the hallway door to the outside to get my stuff out of my car. I noticed that the card lock on the outside of the door was not working. The staff gal told me there was a trick to make it work and tried it herself. The card lock was not working. So, she jammed the door open with the rubber doormat. I then got my stuff out of my car in into the room.
I entered my room and unpacked, and then went to the front desk to get quarters to use the laundry. I went to the laundry room, loaded my clothes into the washer, and started it. I went back into my room to use the ironing board. I noticed that while there was an ironing board, it had no cover and was bare metal. There was a holder for the iron but no iron. So, I went to the front desk and asked for an iron and an ironing board cover. She told me they had no cover, So I said I could improvise and adapt so I asked for a pillowcase. She gave me the pillowcase and an iron.
I went back to my room and set up to iron my clothing. I plugged the iron in, and it was stone cold and never heated up. So, I returned the iron to the front desk.
30 minutes later, I took my clothes out of the washer and set up the dryer, putting eight quarters in the slot and starting the dryer. 40 minutes later I returned and found that my clothing was still wet, and the dryer never heated up. So went back to the front desk and informed them the dryer was not working. I asked for and received a large green garbage bag to load my wet clothing into. I figured I would dry my clothes later that day at another motel.
I went to get ice, well no dice. The ice machine was broken.
I went back to my room and went to sleep. At 11 pm I woke up to take a shower. I tried the water and it finally was working. But I was too tired to take a shower and went back to bed.
The next morning I went to the front lobby to get the Continental Breakfast. The continental breakfast was a coffee machine with a two-slice toaster. That was all. There were no condiments even. So I toasted my own bread but had to eat it dry.
So I had a loaf of bread in my cooler and made two slices of toast. But there was no margarine or jelly to put on it so I had to eat it dry.
I loaded my car, and before I checked out I go the hotel supervisor’s number and I called her. She said she had no power to issue refunds, so I asked her for the General manager’s phone number. I was told to call him from 8 to 4 on weekdays.
I made the call on the following Monday. The manager said he would get back to me on Tuesday. He never called. So I called on Wednesday and he admitted to the problems and gave me a full refund.
It is a motel from hell. I do not...
Read moreI would like to share an honest review of this hotels staff. I have myself not set foot in this hotel, however my son was sent there for an extended stay thru his job. I called and made a reservation with a wonderful lady. She and another female staff memeber were very helpful and gracious making reservations for my son. My son was renewing his weekly stay with a male staff member who not only went up on his rate but was very rude to him for no reason because he was a welder. (Apparently they have a bad reputation at some places) He made derogatory remarks about his trade. Then fast forward 3 weeks my son was not there on the day he was supposed to renew his weekly stay, he went in later in the day and this male staff member was waiting on him. He actually went up on his weekly rate 130.00 dollars, when my son questioned (they did argue) this increase the staff memeber called the police on him and had him trespassed from the premesis. We had to In turn have the policeman make the staff memeber let my son collect his gear and belongings from the room. We also had to pay the nightly rate for him to grant him access to get his belongings. Then when we tried to get my son a room at a local hotel nearby he found that that staff memeber had also called and had him trespassed from that hotel as well. We were able to find him a nice hotel at a comparable rate to the one he was getting before this clown got involved. The ladies we delt with prior to his involvement were wonderful, I think it's sad that the establishment lets people on a power trip like this one male front desk clerk cause this much upset (calling the cops on an 18 year old) especially considering my son was 4 hrs from home and is there just for work and has not caused any trouble the entire 3 weeks he was staying at this hotel. I cannot say how much I do not recommend this establishment due to this front desk clerk. I hope the male front desk clerk reads this and hope the owner sees this because there was absolutely no reason for the police to have been called. To form resolution he needs some anger management classes. Also this 40-50 year old man stated that he wanted my son trespassed because he was afraid of him. Lol seriously your a grown man. Hotel...
Read moreOk let me start off by saying that just because it says by Wyndham doesn't really mean much.
The location is convenient to I40, but the building is outdated and needs some love. Be aware that there is no elevator.
Got here late, was dog tired and just wanted a nice hot shower. Checkin was easy and smooth. Staff super friendly and helpful. Went to my room and was hit with a musty smell. The AC was on which helped. Dropped my bags and hopped in the shower. The water pressure is really really sad. Almost like they need to soak the shower head in CLR or just outright replace. I could have taken a shower with a water hose and been done a lot quicker. Not only that but the spigot, when you pulled the knob to activate the shower head, it didn't fully close and there was no way to get it to completely close. The inside, when I felt around with my finger to try and get it to close felt rusted. Also found a sticker burr entangled in the fibers of the wash cloth I picked up.
When I went to turn the bed down for the night I found stains on the bed and sheets like they weren't changed. Honestly looked like period blood. I called staff and they brought a whole new set of sheets and covers. They offered to change rooms but I had already dropped my stuff and had spread out. Plus I was in my PJs. Staff helped me switch the covers and I was fine. Found a grasshopper on the floor barely alive and also a dead spider on the night stand. I don't think this room has been used in quite some time. ¯(ツ)/¯.
Slept decent, no interruptions. AC was cold and kept the room cool all night.
In the morning I packed up and headed out to find that they are not serving breakfast.
In short, check the room thoroughly when you check in and if it's not clean or something is wrong, report it to...
