There's a reason the MASSIVE Holiday Inn next door is always completely booked. The Quality Inn & Suites CVG Airport (1805 Airport Exchange Blvd Erlanger, KY) is an utter dump! If you're happy sleeping in a garbage can, this is your kind of place! Booked the hotel directly through their website while on the road. We arrived at 12:37 a.m. There was nobody at the front desk. I rang the bell - no answer. I called out - no answer. Receipts laying within hand's reach with FULL CREDIT CARD NUMBERS on them. I called hotel direct. Phone behind desk rang and rang. No signs of life. After 20 minutes, a couple toting suitcases came into the lobby. I explained that nobody was apparently running the hotel. Seconds after talking to them, a man (hobbling like he had been hit by a car) walked in and went around behind desk, sat down and looked at me. "How can I help you?". Apparently, the front desk person is also the airport shuttle driver! He just left his post to go pick this couple up at the airport! It gets worse. I check in and tell the other couple "Good luck!"
We get to our suite. No key card - the room keypad code is the room number with a "zero" added onto the end. Room 212 code is 2120. Literally throughout the hotel! Every room is accessible, because they never set a specific code for you! I can go there this weekend and walk into any room, because I know all the codes. UNSAFE! Room is an absolute DUMP. Slick one-sheet linoleum throughout - slip and fall lawsuit waiting to happen. Fold out couch and easy chair are ratty old hotel furniture from the 90's with covers on them! Person who was sleeping on it decided to not remove cover or open bed, just threw the sheet onto the couch to sleep. Shower has mold, wetbar sink drain has mold. "dining area" in suite was an old faux marble-top high table with stools. Obviously bought second hand damaged and reassembled incorrectly. Lightbox in "kitchenette" was repaired incorrectly multiple times and would have cut someone reaching up to it. Toilet in bathroom had a loose seat-nut underneath. If you sat down, you would fall off the toilet - yet another lawsuit... I reached under and secured it (immediately scrubbing my hands afterward). There was a lone cabinet pulled 8 inches from the wall with this GENIUS set-up of plugging the television into an extension cord... when there is an outlet right there... AND THE OUTLET WORKED (we plugged one of our phones in to it)! Speaking of outlets - take a look at this "quality" job with the outlets in the "kitchenette". We used a luggage cart to bring our items up, and I blocked the door with it - since the keypad codes were virtually useless - I slept with one eye open all night. Next morning, our group decided to skip showering and just get the hell out of there - except for one of us - who told us that there is no hot water, so they took a cold shower. With 5 in our group, I decided to use the lobby bathroom, so I didn't have to wait in a line. You'll find pictures of that nightmare below. Damned good thing we didn't want to use the pool. It is closed indefinitely. Empty, yet security gate is propped open for any unsuspecting guest to fall into a concrete pit. Check out? These thieves try to swindle you out of $1.50 for use of the room-safe (which we never used)... then charge you a $5.00 "resort fee". I asked what it is for. This was the morning clerk's answer: "For the FREE breakfast, the FREE wi-fi, the FREE pool, the FREE shuttle service." (NONE OF WHICH WE USED) I responded "You literally just said those are FREE. Do you not understand what that word means?" The guy got an attitude, and started arguing with me. I told him I wanted a receipt and copy of what I signed when I checked in. He got really pissy about that, slammed things around, and threw the papers at me. I told him I would be disputing the charges with Choice Hotel Credit Card - who they are part of. DO NOT GIVE THESE THIEVES ONE SINGLE PENNY OF YOUR MONEY. This cesspool is tantamount to a $39.99 roadside motel, and should be shut down immediately....
Read moreThe public parts of the hotel were not clean. When we arrived there was trash on the ground all around the front entrance and the outside garage can near the entrance looked filthy-as did the entire outside entrance area. The general appearance of the front foyer was one of neglect and poor cleaning practices. The carpet in the hallway leading to our room was strewn with debris and this remained the case for the entire three nights of our stay (I actually took a video of the hallway floor on our final morning there to document this). The surfaces in the breakfast area were not being wiped down and, in fact, there were what seemed to be (at least) several days worth of dirty hand prints/gunk all over the “handle” area of the mini fridge that contained the frozen breakfast sandwiches and a communal gallon of milk (that is a whole other kettle of fish…). This is all obviously unsanitary, and would have turned my stomach at the best of times, but apparently who ever is responsible for cleaning this hotel somehow missed the memo that we are still dealing with a global pandemic… The room did not appear to be as dirty. The surfaces seemed to have been wiped down in there (though sanitized is anyone’s guess) and there were plenty of clean towels (that did seem to have been properly bleached and so I am happy with that). I noticed a red smear on the side of the sheets on one of the beds in the room. I couldn’t be for sure if maybe it was just a stain that would not come out but I would think a hotel should not put a stained sheet in a guest room even if they do know it has been properly laundered. I was also afraid to put my bare feet on the room. The carpet looked quite old, and in desperate of a good shampoo, even though it did appear to have been vacuumed since there was no visible debris. I was thankful that I brought my flip flops!
The hotel itself is older, and in need of updates. Though everything we used in the room worked I will say that the faucet is much less than ADA friendly. Both my father and I had trouble turning on the water. Granted, we did not request an accessible room (as we really do not need that). However, we’ve also never stayed anywhere that the standard bathroom fixtures were so hard to use that needing accommodations simply to be able to turn on water never even crossed our minds.
I am still giving this hotel a couple of stars because everyone we encountered on the staff was at least polite and they tried to do as we asked, when we asked (such as when we had to ASK for a “Do not disturb” placard for our door because there was not one anywhere in the room). I did not bother asking to have things cleaned up however-that was a bit to tall of an order. I also have the feeling maybe whoever is in charge just doesn’t have the same standard of cleanliness as me - which is probably the whole issue.
For those that might say “You get what you pay for…” you may be correct. The old building and un-updated features would be what I would expect for the lower rate - and that is fine (I only mention them in my review because if I’m writing a review I would like to make sure that it is thorough). I do not expect poor sanitary conditions in the middle of a pandemic. Also, the reason I stayed the whole three nights we were booked for is because someone else booked the room for us, we had not driven ourselves on this trip, the person who did drive and do the booking was staying with family (and therefore didn’t care that we were not happy here), and I had no where else to go until our entire traveling party departed for home. I WILL NOT...
Read moreMake sure no one stays here at all if you don't care about privacy. We decided from Thursday night till Sunday to stay for the weekend for a little getaway. Well we went it everything started good we got a king suite looked pretty good. Woke up next morning to Justin playing video games on an extra TV we brought with out Xbox. We went to get breakfast around 9 and it was already gone. Decided to take a nap around 2 and feed oakleigh I Breestfeed also. Justin's playing xbox and baby is sleeping I fell asleep got woke up to a quiet knock on the door so we look at each other then housekeeping decides to walk in before he can even get up they say housekeeping and he said no and the dude proceeded to walk in and look at me while my book was out and grab the trash very loudly even tho he saw that the baby and me was trying to sleep. They walked in even after we said no didn't even answer the door then proceeded to be loud and even talk to each other in there language. Well after that happened we tried calling the front office and the lady who answered said she'll tell her manager and was in a rush to get off the phone. Mind you that there all the same race so I'm thinking maybe it's a family owned hotel and they live there. We go out for the day come back and there's a couple of them outside staring at us talking about us. Everytime we go in and out the lobby they look and start whispering. Well yesterday were in our room we get another knock and the lady that answered the phone and a dude walked in again and said something about roof leaking mind you I'm in bed once again getting the baby a nap so Justin's playing games and they look where I am and leave doesn't even say anything. Not only did they not care about our privacy but they were very rude and immature. Last night we needed towels since after the first day they never came got our trash or gave us fresh towels so Justin calls the front desk asking for more towels they say yes whats tour room number so we tell them and they say nope you have to wait till housekeeping In the morning. Why ask for our room number if you can't hand out towels? Never heard of a place that doesn't give you towels when housekeeping isn't there. Also felt like every second we were being watched like there was hidden cameras. Also there was poop smeared all over the wall by the toilet. Here's some pictures and some reviews people left about them just walking in. When we checked out we also had to wait Additional 5 minutes bc of the TV we brought in they thought we stole it so they had to check the...
